Dad moved to the care home in January and is on the dementia ward. The staff are very kind and attentive and Dad has settled in very well. I have visited at all times of day and always found a high resident to carer ratio. The room is bright and always clean. My dad isn’t well enough to take part in
activities so I can’t rate this. I’m still in shock about the fees of care homes in general so I have rated average for value for money - I just wish I thought that it was going to the carers who deserve every penny.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Reviews Team at Woodlands Care CentreDear Karen, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear that your dad has settled in well and that you find the staff kind and attentive. Ensuring a high resident-to-carer ratio and maintaining cleanliness are priorities for us, so we appreciate your positive feedback in these areas. We understand your concerns about the fees associated with care homes and we appreciate your honest feedback about the value for money. It's important to us that you feel your investment in your dad's care is going towards the excellent care and dedication provided by our staff. Your trust in us is greatly valued and we're committed to providing the best possible care for your dad and all residents.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and escorted to our friend. The carers in the room were all very interactive with all patients, and we were immediately offered tea and biscuits. The room was super clean and lots of activities were available for patients. There was a daily news sheet with our friend,
and he seemed to take a lot from it.

My mum is a resident of Woodlands and is very well cared for. Always clean and seems content. They do their very best to get her to eat and drink which she is reluctant to do most of the time. They also keep myself and my sister up to date with everything that goes on with her.
Reply from Sia Lebbie, Reviews Team at Woodlands Care CentreThank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that your mum is receiving excellent care at Woodlands. Encouraging residents to eat and drink enough can be a challenge and we're committed to doing our best in this regard. Keeping you and your sister informed about your mum's well-being and activities is essential to us and we're pleased that you appreciate the updates. Your trust and feedback mean a lot to us. A warm welcome easy access to coffee. Staff on hand if necessary. Rooms comfortable if on the small side but clean. Friendly atmosphere. Can be difficult to find home as navigator takes you to a different place but worth the effort to find it.

The home is nothing short of fabulous. I have been coming for the last 8 years and my wife has always been looked after in such a wonderful way. I met a friend the other day and asked if I could recommend to him a home and I said to him “Go to Woodlands”. I am very satisfied with the care my wife is
receiving, she couldn’t be in a better place!

My mother was placed in the Woodlands care home in November 2022 for nursing care with mixed Dementia. Since she has been there we have been very happy with the care and support she has received. There is regular contact from the home on how my mother was coping with her condition and any issues that
arise with it. I have met and been in contact with various members of staff along with the home Manager who all have been very friendly, and helpful and will always take the time to talk/discuss things with you. I can say that my mother is being very well cared for and looked after and can't thank the home enough for what they do.

Mum went into Woodlands at the height of Covid, so we were unable to visit or see her, which was worrying. But this was made much more bearable by frequent calls from them informing us of how she was settling in. When we could visit, everything was done to make it safe for everyone concerned. Mum has
now been in the home since April 2021 and we (her sister and myself) visit regularly. We have always found Woodlands to be welcoming, clean, comfortable and professional. Great, friendly and helpful staff from the minute you step in the door. Mum was on Wordsworth, which was recently decorated to a very professional level, with comfy chairs and lots of prints on the walls. All are chosen with care. Mum has just moved to Byron and the care and support she is receiving is just so good. We would highly recommend Woodlands for your loved ones. Lots of meetings for relatives to get involved in too, which is important.

My mother has been with Woodlands Care Home for over three years. My mum arrived there during the Covid lockdown, we were unable to visit, Woodlands Care Home communication was amazing, videos via tablet, and telephone updates during a week, made the transition into care very easy for mum and family.
Mum's condition has worsened over the last two years and care staff coped amazingly well. The Woodland care home provides a nice, happy, friendly environment for my mum. Any concerns are dealt with very quickly, efficiently, and well-communicated.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Woodlands Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Woodlands Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (479 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 530 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Care Centre is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 109 registered maximum number of service users is 21.8, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
