Staff are always pleasant. They have some difficult residents and deal with them in a very pleasant way to re-direct. I would highly recommend this care home, highly recommend this car home, having viewed most care homes in the area. By far the best.

I find Lydgate Lodge an excellent home. My mother is 97 years old and is quite happy and settled there. She lived on her own for 40 years after my father died and we are very happy that she is now residing in Lydgate Lodge.

I am very pleased with the overall level of care and support dad receives.


The home is always clean, though at time his own room could benefit from a deep clean.


Dad has always eaten traditional meals. Meat and 2 veg. The food is certainly to his taste.

My mum had a significant deterioration in her general health following a spell in hospital and the demands on staff and management of the home increased significantly. They took on a lot of extra work in ensuring my mums increased needs were met and others e.g Doctors, District Nurses provided the support
needed.

I was recommended to Lydgate Lodge by a fellow carer whose wife was already here, so I made enquiries for my wife. She was assessed and considered suitable, so moved in almost straight away. That was in February 2016. I have been so impressed with the care and dedication of the manager and staff since
my wife came in and I have no hesitation in recommending the home to future residents.

My dad is 86 and now a new resident of Lydgate Lodge. He has settled well and the staff are fantastic. Every resident is treated with respect and made to feel valued. The staff keep me updated and they are very approachable. The rooms are well kept and nicely decorated. Overall the home is very welcoming
and homely. My family and I have made the right decision to have my dad here where he has full support for his care needs.

Mum has only been in Lydgate Lodge for 3 months and she has settled in very nicely. The carers are brilliant with her. The staff and management are very pleasant and you can talk to them anytime. Nothing is too much trouble for them and there is everything Mum needs at Lydgate.

Lovely place, dad has been well looked after both physically and foodwise and Lydgate Lodge has everything an elderly person could want or need. The staff have been exceptional apart from one girl who had a bit of an attitude. Problem one Sunday afternoon when my brother and his wife were visiting dad.
I think she preferred to go and have a cigarette! I would definitely recommend to anyone who requires respite like dad or being a resident. Thank you for looking after my dad. It is very much appreciated.

A delightful care home, built to the highest standards with plenty of communal rooms on each floor. Walking into the reception area is like being on a cruise ship with imposing stairs leading to the 1st floor. The staff are attentive at all times, providing the level of care that you would give to a

From the day we went to look around Lydgate Lodge to the day we went to clear dads room, we have been shown nothing but support, care and friendship. Dad spent 6 months at Lydgate and it gave him a new lease of life. He was encouraged to join in and also left alone when he needed to be. I was told that
Lydgate Lodge was dad's home and the staff were visitors. Each and every one of the staff did a great job and I couldn't have asked for a better way for dad to spend his last months.

My mum has spent the last two years at Lydgate Lodge and has always been happy and content there. The staff have always been courteous, kind and treated mum with respect. Staff always treat the residents as individuals and encourage them to make their own decisions, regarding what they want to wear,
food choices, entertainment and bed time. They always knock on the bedroom doors before entering, provide comfort when needed and love always. The food is amazing and of a very high standard, there is regular entertainment, pop-up restaurants occasionally, a café and trips out. It is more like a hotel than a care home.
Mum passed away in the home in November, the staff looked after me and my sister as well as mum. They did not interfere but left us to be with mum until the end and then dealt with everything for us in a very professional but kind and considerate way.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the management and staff for their efforts in improving Lydgate Lodge over the past three months. When I visited my mother at Lydgate Lodge she had really enjoyed her day. The residents had been baking and decorating the buns they had made and she looked so happy.
Her day got even better when it was her turn (all residents have a turn) to enjoy a special meal. It was 'steak night' and the kitchen staff and staff had gone to great lengths to make it special, complete with an entertainer. The cafe had been turned into a restaurant and when I left they were enjoying a shandy and a good laugh. Management and staff are really working hard to make life good at Lydgate with many activities. I drove home with a big smile on my face that said, thank you.

More stimulation is required for residents as a lot of the time they are sat about sleeping. They could do with more cleaning operations. More eye to details, the staff try really hard.
