So pleased with the 'different' care. My parents have received at Horse Fair. Their needs have been met, although they are completely different. Staff are amazing and genuinely care.

Every time I visit the home with my dad, everyone is really friendly. There always seems to be plenty of activities and entertainment to keep my mum occupied, and I love seeing the photos on social media. The Valentine's Day meal was a lovely event for my mum and dad; both had a great time. It's great
to see how much the staff care for the residents and make sure they have everything they need. It was a difficult decision deciding to put my mum in a home, but it was definitely the best one and the nicest home.
Reply from Sheryll ., Client Liaison Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your lovely feedback. It truly means a lot to our whole team. We're so pleased to hear that both your mum and dad enjoyed the Valentine's Day meal and that your visits have been such positive experiences.

Our staff work very hard to create a welcoming, caring environment with plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, so it's wonderful to know that it makes a difference. We completely understand that choosing a care home for a loved one is never an easy decision, and we're really grateful that you trust us to care for your mum.

Thank you again for your kind words and for being part of our community.

Staff - all are very supportive of residents and use their names when speaking to them. Recent decorations done to general areas is of a high standard, but some bedrooms need updating. Sometimes it takes a while for problems to be solved. On the whole, the home has a good atmosphere from entering to
leaving. Garden is a pleasure to sit in when the weather permits.
Reply from Sheryll ., Client Liaison Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your kind feedback.

We're so pleased you found our staff supportive and welcoming, and that the atmosphere and recent redecoration made a positive impression. It's also lovely to hear you enjoy the garden.

We appreciate your comments about bedroom updates and response times, and we're continually working to improve in these areas. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Mum (Ann) came to Horse Fair in September 2025. Mum settled well into her new environment. The lovely thing about Horse Fair are visitors are encouraged and welcomed animals as well! Beautiful gardens when the weather is nice, mum enjoys the fresh air. Mum has her own ensuite room. The food is good,
and Mum looks forward to lunch in the dining room. She has built up a nice little friendship group.
Staff are friendly and supportive.

Mum came into Horse Fair 2 years ago in Feb 2024 and settled in quite quickly. She is sociable, so made some friends quite soon. She always says everyone is so kind and caring, and helpful. She loved the food and has regained the 2st she lost prior to coming into care. Our family are very happy that
mum has accepted that she needs support, and we feel she is safe and happy at Horse Fair. She joins in the entertainment and loves Sunday Hymns. She's happy.

We are so pleased to hear that your mum settled in quickly and has made such lovely friendships. Knowing that she feels safe, happy and well cared for is exactly what we strive for every day.

It's wonderful to hear how much she enjoys the entertainment and especially Sunday Hymns - those moments are so special. We're also delighted that she's enjoying the food and feeling so much better in herself.

I've just visited my uncle who has been in this care home for a couple of years now. I visit at different times and days and have found all the staff that you bump into to be caring and happy. Most of the residents enjoy entertainment from staff and outside agencies. The home is clean and tidy and is
currently enjoying a "makeover" with new carpets and decor. The managers Julie and Kirsty are very approachable, as are the rest of the admin staff. Xmas decorations are going up now and residents are looking forward to parties. In the summer staff take dementia residents down the gardens for a potter around. I know my uncle loves this.

Mum had been at Horsefair for over three years. After a change in management the ethos in the home changed, sadly not for the better. Ultimately I have moved Mum, which was a very hard decision as she is 95 with severe dementia. However, in order to protect her dignity and to ensure compassionate
treatment, I felt I had no choice.
Reply from Julie Anderson, Home Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that you felt the ethos of Horsefair had changed following the management transition and that this influenced your decision to move your mother. We acknowledge the concerns you raised and, after discussions with the home, regret that you no longer felt confident in our care. We wish your mother well in her new home.

Very attentive to care needs of my father. Excellent social programme, especially external visits and on-site entertainment. Nothing was too much trouble and any additional needs were catered for by the staff. My father has no hesitation in returning for respite care.

My mum in law has settled in well. She joined Horsefair in November 2024 and loves it. Within the first few days she said she wanted to stay. She joins in with most of the activities and loves chatting over tea with the other residents. All the staff are fantastic and nothing is any trouble and they
all greet her with a cheerful hello.

Mum has been a resident at horse fair since September 2024. We have found that she has settled in almost immediately. She has found her room first class and the care she receives from the staff is again first rate, they are always friendly and smiling - and nothing is too much trouble. The quality of
food is excellent and mum always complains there is too much food.
Mum has received regular medical assessments which i'm pleased with.

My mum has been in Horsefair for nearly a year now. I always thought that it would be awful visiting her in a care home, but how could I have been so wrong. From the minute you walk in to the place, it's like walking into a hotel. The receptionist's always greet you with a smile on their faces and all
the staff do an amazing job. When I visit it is like one big happy family and my mum has settled in so well. Thank you for looking after her.

Mum has been in Horse Fair for 6 months now and in that time all the staff have been so helpful and understanding, not just for Mum but for the family as well. The support they have provided Mum through all of the events and activities have been fantastic. Mum has so many laughs and jokes all day with
us and the staff.
I have stayed for lunch a couple of times and the food, cakes and coffee were amazing.
We are kept informed about Mum's care and any needs that crop up - we have a monthly residents meeting where I have the opportunity to discuss the activities at the home and the good work the staff do.

The staff at Horse Fair Care Home made it a seamless transition for my mum moving in on Christmas eve.
They could not of made us more welcome and supported all of us through this difficult time.
The rooms are nice and large with en suite facilities and since we added my mum's furniture and pictures
in place it is now a home from home for her.
The activities and entertainment they provide daily is second to none, with staff constantly at hand.
My mum now feels safe and appears to be slot less stressed & seems relaxed than her last few weeks at home and in hospital.
The staff are all friendly and helpful and there is a real family environment, we would recommend Horse Fair to anyone.

This was a very painful experience for us to put Mum into a care home. With Mum suffering from dementia, she couldn't understand why this was happening to her which made this a very traumatic time for us all. The staff were so helpful, supportive and professional throughout the whole process and so
caring and understanding to all of our requests. We cannot thank the staff enough. Such a wonderful support. Many thanks to all.

Needed more hands-on care. Had a rash and don't know how often it was treated. Needed help with getting dressed i.e. the right things to put on. The same with morning and night.
Residents with dementia seemed to be isolated on the top floor. I don't know if they were all allowed down into the garden
in the nice weather. On the plus side, the artwork on his bedroom door, cycling which was his hobby when young. Also, labelling of clothes worth every penny of £25.
Reply from Sheryll Ough, CSM at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for sharing your observations regarding our dementia clients and their access to the garden. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us enhance the experiences we provide. Our lovely garden is accessible to all residents and is frequently enjoyed during the warmer months. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
