Extremely helpful care staff during demonstration and try out of new chair. They were willing, kind and full of advice, also patient and treated Mum with dignity while she deliberated and raised issues. On the same day, I witnessed the return of another resident from a hospital stay; she had the loveliest
of welcomes and was visibly delighted with the fuss made of her.
Reply from Gemma Bertelsen, Home Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your kind feedback. I am delighted that the staff made time to make Mum feel comfortable and help her feel at ease. I will pass your kind words on to the staff. Best wishes.

My Mum has been a resident in the Dementia unit since the end of May 2018. And is now in Palliative care.
I have nothing more to say than what an absolutely wonderful care home this is. From the first time she came to live here to the present time mum has had marvellous care, the staff are so compassionate
and loving to her and all the residents.
They have seen mum at her worst when angry, frustrated, sad and not understanding her situation, to laughing with her and making her smile and laugh. They are always kind, loving and professional.
All resident's rooms have their own bathrooms, communal lounges and dining rooms are spacious and well-fitted. A lovely garden for sunny days with an aviary. Alpacas visited recently, a huge hit, also staff member's beautiful cat came in for cuddles, I would not hesitate to recommend Horse Fair, you will be welcomed with love and kindness by all staff.
Reply from Gemma Bertelson, Home Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your heartfelt feedback, it is so warming to hear that even the little things go a long way and that you are so pleased with the care Mum receives. Thank you once again and we will share this with our team.

This review covers the period of time that our mother spent in the care of the staff at Horse Fair from September until she passed away in January this year.
We chose Horse Fair Care Home for our mother because a relative had given us a good review from when their relative was in the home and our
impressions when we visited to make our own assessment.
From the word go, we were very happy with the staff we met, the cleanliness and the quality of the room we were shown. Our first impressions were spot on, for the whole time our mum was with Horse Fair she was treated with kindness and with dignity, even though we know that as her dementia worsened she became very difficult. This made out lives so much easier as we knew that she was being very well looked after.
Thank you Horse Fair, from our family.
Reply from Gemma Bertlesen, Home Manager at Horse Fair Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for such kind feedback, providing support for our residents is something that we always put at the forefront of what we do but also offering emotional support to relatives is also a vital part of the care we deliver. It is heartwarming to hear that as a family you also felt that support. Best wishes, Gemma.

My father moved from sheltered accommodation to Horse Fair Care Home in December 2022 due to mobility and other issues. He has settled in really well and myself and our family are very pleased with the care he has received at Horse Fair. The staff are kind and attentive and care for my father's every
need. Compared to other care homes we have visited, House Fair is brilliant and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it to you.

My wife is being looked after at Horsefair care home. Although no one wants to see their loved ones in care, I can say that I feel very happy in my mind that she is always looked after very well.
Horsefair is lovely and clean, the food is excellent and plenty of it the laundry service is excellent
too.
All of the carers are excellent in the way they care for the residents and go about their duties in a professional manner. This includes the senior staff and management too. Reception staff always have a smile for you and are very helpful to me.

My dad has been staying at Horse Fair since April and I am so pleased I chose this care home. Choosing the right home is very difficult but having looked at several in the area, I decided to try out Horse Fair for some respite stays which Dad enjoyed very much. Now a full-time resident, Dad has settled
well and is very well-cared for. The staff are cheerful, attentive, caring and helpful. The lounge and dining areas are lovely, as is the garden which has an aviary which many of the residents love. There is an emphasis on socialising and interaction and Dad certainly loves the food! Covid safety procedures are in place and strictly adhered to which is reassuring. It is a huge relief to know that Dad is somewhere that is genuinely caring.

Firstly, I deliver exercise sessions in this care home every Thursday.

As I visit a lot of care homes throughout the Midlands due to my work, Horse Fair Care Home is up there as one of the best I visit due to its happy and safe environment for both the staff and residents. Two staff members imparticular

care assistant and the activities assistant are very helpful in getting residents prepared for my sessions. All residents seem to be settled within the care home and the atmosphere for my sessions is always great due to the staff's organisation and bubbly personalities.

Additionally, the Care Homes' handling of residents' safety is amazing. This is done by making sure all visitors and residents are signed in and out, a negative lateral flow test is presented on arrival, up to date with resident's covid jabs (seen this for myself in one of my sessions) and a temperature check is taken. To finish, all facilities are to a high standard and most importantly clean.

Mum went to Horse Fair Care Home for respite for six to twelve weeks. Unfortunately, her dementia had massively deteriorated in hospital and she stopped eating and drinking. Mum passed away on the 21st of March 2022. Mum was only in Horse Fair Care Home for six weeks but the love, care, tenderness and
clear distress to staff when she died was nothing less than remarkable.
The team of nurses, carers and staff are phenomenal and I would recommend Horse Fair Care Home to anyone whose loved ones who require care and/or stimulation. A wonderful place.

My great aunt recently stayed at Horse Fair Care Home following a hospital admission. We cannot thank the staff enough for the care and attention they gave her. She said the food was great with lots of choices and she enjoyed being able to socialise with residents and staff after a long period of being
on her own at home due to covid. The staff even took her out in the garden where she enjoyed taking part in a challenge the home were doing for Captain Tom. She was so pleased with her room said it was like a hotel and from start to finish, the communication was great and allowed us all a well earnt rest! We could rest knowing she was so well cared for. Her confidence and overall wellbeing has increased so much. Thanks again to all the staff you are doing a fantastic job and I would recommend this home to anyone.

Following an appointment for a pod visit with my sister, a staff member was waiting to welcome us and complete relevant Covid procedures. She escorted us to the pod during which time the friendly staff member told us a little about Dad's morning. We asked to speak to someone regarding taking Dad out
of the setting, if he would cope and how it might impact him. After our visit, a senior staff member met us and had a lengthy and candid chat with us. This was very reassuring and much appreciated.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.717 for Horse Fair Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (254 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 332 Ratings = 4.717
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Horse Fair Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
