Hawthorn Court care home, located in the centre of Hebburn, provides personalised residential and residential dementia care to older people.

The lovely home offers many areas for residents to relax, socialise and unwind. The beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms make residents feel at home, and some rooms have patio access to the landscape gardens.

I visited my auntie recently. I was very impressed with the overall standard of the care home. The staff were very friendly and the home had a high standard of cleanliness. The first impression when you walk in is fantastic. As a registered mental health nurse, I was highly impressed.

Mam came into Hawthorn Court after a stay in hospital. She soon settled in and we feel she was welcomed into the home. Hawthorn Court staff are all very helpful and pleasant. The home is very clean and well presented.

My mum was admitted to the home on New Year's Eve. She was poorly and had experienced many falls at home and was unsafe in her own home.
Since her admission, she has gained confidence, eaten well, slept well and become increasingly mobile although blind she has been well supported by the staff. All
the staff are genuinely kind and caring and provide a high standard of care. All the residents always appear clean, happy and well cared for. The environment is lovely and kept to a high standard. I can't thank the staff enough for their excellent care and attention to mum.

The food is absolutely disgusting! Cheap, not fresh, cold and texture of some foods like rubber. On a number of occasions, I have been so disgusted that I have had to go out and purchase food for my mother to eat. Something needs to be done about it!

I am unable to recommend a particular home as an advocate I present to my clients a balanced view of all provisions to the best of my knowledge.

We were told my husbands' personal washing would be included in your price of one week's residency. This was not so, a printed message was pinned on the toilet door saying "family must do the residents washing". My husband complained that the food was never hot enough, I find my experience of the coffee
served was that it was a combination of water and milk with a minimum measure of coffee.

The manager and care staff are amazing at their jobs. They are caring people with compassion and empathy for their residents. I have great respect for their care for my family member. The transition from my mother in laws home to her new home has been seamless. The staff, from the manager, carers and
housekeeping staff are fabulous, nothing is a trouble for them. Thank you all so much, the whole family feel relief that their mother is in safe hands.

Generally good but we are concerned with the yearly increase in fees at 5.5% with a similar rise last year. We received the letter detailing this. We are happy when this extra money goes towards the staff costs and benefits for residents. (Eg the silent alarms - are they installed at Hawthorn Court
Care Home?) but not with costs for services that provide no help for residents eg improve WI-FI where it could be spent on activities.

I can confirm that we do have a silent alarm system at Hawthorn Court. I would also like to point out that the introduction of wifi has improved communication for some Residents with families who live further afield and also allows access to different activities.

I have visited my friend on several occasions and have been very impressed with the building, which is so light and airy and very clean.
The staff on entering, could not have been more helpful and everyone is very friendly.
Naturally, my friend would rather be in her own home but she is comfortable,
extremely well care for and her room is lonely.
