Over this very strange time, Hawthorn Court management and staff have been so supportive. The stress and personal contact with the residents never wavered and always gave 100%. We as a family can't fault them. We are so grateful.

On first going into Hawthorn Court I was met with the impression that this was the place for me; a cheerful receptionist soon put me at ease and gave me a tour of the facilities. The rooms are bright and well equipped with all the fittings being clean and providing me with all I require. I quickly felt I was part of the family. The staff are most helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them to help you in whatever you want. I never have any complaints about the food, it is just like being at home. Due to the current restrictions placed on the staff and residents by the Coronavirus, I know it is a very difficult time. I know that this is the place for me where I will always be happy.

The patience, care and understanding shown to our aunt was exceptional. The facilities were of the highest standard and kept immaculately clean. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hawthorn Court to anyone thinking about residential care for a loved one.

I visited my auntie recently. I was very impressed with the overall standard of the care home. The staff were very friendly and the home had a high standard of cleanliness. The first impression when you walk in is fantastic. As a registered mental health nurse, I was highly impressed.

My mum was admitted to the home on New Year's Eve. She was poorly and had experienced many falls at home and was unsafe in her own home.

Since her admission, she has gained confidence, eaten well, slept well and become increasingly mobile although blind she has been well supported by the staff. All the staff are genuinely kind and caring and provide a high standard of care. All the residents always appear clean, happy and well cared for. The environment is lovely and kept to a high standard. I can't thank the staff enough for their excellent care and attention to mum.

Although usually a loner she has made one or two friends which have helped her to settle. She has days of challenging behaviour but states she is happy in her new residence.

The food is absolutely disgusting! Cheap, not fresh, cold and texture of some foods like rubber. On a number of occasions, I have been so disgusted that I have had to go out and purchase food for my mother to eat. Something needs to be done about it!

I am unable to recommend a particular home as an advocate I present to my clients a balanced view of all provisions to the best of my knowledge.

I find the staff at all levels to be knowledgeable and very welcoming and approachable. They know their service users are very well and therefore able to meet their day to day needs.

We were told my husbands' personal washing would be included in your price of one week's residency. This was not so, a printed message was pinned on the toilet door saying "family must do the residents washing". My husband complained that the food was never hot enough, I find my experience of the coffee served was that it was a combination of water and milk with a minimum measure of coffee.

The manager and care staff are amazing at their jobs. They are caring people with compassion and empathy for their residents. I have great respect for their care for my family member. The transition from my mother in laws home to her new home has been seamless. The staff, from the manager, carers and housekeeping staff are fabulous, nothing is a trouble for them. Thank you all so much, the whole family feel relief that their mother is in safe hands.

Generally good but we are concerned with the yearly increase in fees at 5.5% with a similar rise last year. We received the letter detailing this. We are happy when this extra money goes towards the staff costs and benefits for residents. (Eg the silent alarms - are they installed at Hawthorn Court Care Home?) but not with costs for services that provide no help for residents eg improve WI-FI where it could be spent on activities.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Hawthorn Court Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the home. We are very sorry that you were not fully apprised of the additional facilities made available. I can confirm that we do have a silent alarm system at Hawthorn Court. I would also like to point out that the introduction of wifi...

I have visited my friend on several occasions and have been very impressed with the building, which is so light and airy and very clean.
The staff on entering, could not have been more helpful and everyone is very friendly.

Naturally, my friend would rather be in her own home but she is comfortable, extremely well care for and her room is lonely.
