Mom was moved to Bromford Lane for assessment (EAB), whilst there she was treated very well. As she has dementia the care and nursing staff were always compassionate and caring. The room she had was clean and bright with a wonderful view of the garden, which had an Avery and a chicken coop, which Mom
loved looking at. The quality of the food was superb, with consistent encouragement given to Mom to eat. She was always dressed in clean clothes as the home's laundry service was superb. The nursing staff looked after Mom very well and were always available to discuss her progress. Mom was looked after very well and I fully recommend Bromford Lane.

I am writing to complain about Bromford Lane Care Centre.
My partner was taken to the care home from hospital, I thought he was going for a few weeks so we brought him clothes he had at the hospital. The next day, I took a bag of clothes, I never saw those clothes again, I was very upset, so was my
partner. Complained to the staff and the manager, I was offered £50 which I accepted. Manager ignored me. Was treated very badly.

My aunty went to Bromford Lane Care Centre from hospital, she wasn’t very well. From the moment she went there, the care home staff were kind and helpful. They provide a caring environment and are always supportive to myself and my aunty. The staff are friendly and approachable. It’s a lovely care home;
a clean environment with comfortable rooms and en-suites. They provide fresh, healthy meals for the care users and offered me refreshments. The staff showed a good understanding of my auntie's needs and were always available to provide support. There is parking available and lovely outside gardens. My overall thought of Bromford Lane Care Home was that the staff worked hard and it showed. They provided a caring environment to the care users and that was really good to see. I would definitely recommend this care home to others.

Excellent care from all staff who tended to our relative. Friendly, helpful staff encountered everywhere in the building. The care our relative received was excellent- care is given with kindness and professionalism. Would recommend from our experience. Nothing too hard to do for our relative and excellent
communication regarding all aspects of care. Witnessed kind, thoughtful care being given to others in the communal area when we visited eg way the residents are spoken to, how food/drink is served. Keep up the excellent work. It is well run and managed - evident to us for sure.

My wife was transferred from another care home to the current Bromford Lane Care Centre. My family on several visits and myself, the reception given to us and my wife has been excellent in all aspects. The organisation on cleaning, personal care with patients in dementia area, all the care you employ
can be expressed as a leader against other competitors.

My mother was in a particularly poorly state when she arrived at the care home. The staff treated Mom with great respect and tenderness. The facilities are clean, modern and bright. In the courtyard garden, there's an aviary housing budgerigars and there are chickens running free. Mom is moving on to
a permanent place in a nursing home near my sister on the other side of the city, but she has benefited from the care she has had at Bromford Lane. I would have no concerns about an elderly resident staying here.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
I am so disappointed in this service, the website is not up to date and doesn’t look or provide the way is stated so, my grandma was in here for less than 24 hours due to lack of care and safety. I feel like they see the resident as numbers, not an individual. Nothing to keep them occupied, staff aren’t
seen to be communicating with residents, just head in phones. I was told it was an assessment unit but then my grandma was moved to a non-assessment unit “so easier to keep watch” with no access to her room if she chose to, code panel worn out so the family couldn’t even allocate the right code to access grandma's room. The room was more of an isolation than a room. The emergency panel didn’t look accessible, seems as if the TV was removed from the walls when there are ways to keep residents safe without removing it first. The home manager I approached was very blunt and was not helpful.
Not very inviting care, which is a shame as I was staff here some time back with the same management and was a much more homely and inviting place.
Reply from Sean Devine, Regional Service Manager at Bromford Lane Care CentreDear reviewer
We appreciate the time you have taken to complete a review and we take all concerns seriously. Your short time at the home did not allow you the full opportunity to fully comprehend how the home has changed since you worked here. The units are no longer residential care and are all now complex mental health. However we fully take on board all your comments good and bad, and if you would like to further discuss these with me I would very much like to meet with you.

Sadly my husband reached a stage of Alzheimer's and Vascular dementia where it wasn't safe for himself or others for him to remain at home. I was heartbroken when he was taken away. Bromford has been able to offer him a safe environment that allows him movement as he still roams. I am grateful to see
him well cared for in clean and kind surroundings. He was a respected man in his working life and is now treated with respect even though very ill.

My mom has been in Bromford Lane Care Centre (EAB ward) for a few weeks. Myself and family have been overwhelmed with the resident's care, patience and empathy. All staff are so professional, friendly and caring, who certainly go above and beyond in resident/patient care. What a great team Bromford
Lane!
Thank you for caring for my mom, you are all angels.

Couldn't ask for better care, which my mother has received whilst in Bromford Lane under assessment. The staff always ensured that she was cared for and made sure she was safe at all times. The staff were great with my mother, and the entertainment was good for her - she very much enjoyed funky Wednesdays.
She loved having her hair and nails done, and the other residents were great too.
Thank you for everything you have done for my mother.

My sister was at Bromford Care Home for approximately six weeks. I couldn't fault the care she received whilst there. All of the staff were very attentive and extremely caring, kind and friendly. The rooms were a very good size and kept clean. The place itself is quite modern and the food is good. I
would like to say a big thank you to all who cared for her and would definitely recommend the home.

After a traumatic year with my dad and his Alzheimer needs going onto an unmanageable level this year, the manager and her team were able to accommodate him and cater for his needs. A recent hospital admission and change in care needs was a concern, but the manager and her team were able to address
this and offer my mom and I support and reassure us on the next steps and care provision, especially around end of life care, which is important to us. Dad always appears clean and well looked after and especially warm during this frail time for him. Thank you.

My relative has been cared for at Bromford for several weeks. he was very confused, but over the last three weeks, has made a very good recovery and continues to improve each time we visit. She is happy and content and greets all members of staff with a smile. I find the staff very pleasant and most
approachable. All rooms I have visited are bright, fresh and clean and the meals I have seen presented are good in presentation, looking very appetising and satisfying.

My nan has dementia and has been on assessment at this home for a number of weeks now. As everyone knows, no one can care for your loved ones like you do, but this home really does care. They are amazing and I feel at peace that my nan is going to spend the rest of her time here. The manager is an amazing
lady, there is nothing you can’t ask her and there is nothing she won’t do for you. All the staff are so caring and have so much time. I cannot recommend this home enough!

My husband was put on end-of-life care at the end of October/November and I cannot fault the manager and her team for all the loving care they give him. Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.417)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.417) out of 10 for Bromford Lane Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.417 for Bromford Lane Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (265 Excellents x 5) + (81 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (25 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 393 Ratings = 4.417
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bromford Lane Care Centre is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 116 registered maximum number of service users is 23.2, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
