Since moving to Riverdale Court, my nan is definitely more engaging and appears happier. There are always numerous staff around, either attending to residents or sat with them doing activities or chatting to them in the TV room. Unlike her previous care home where she would be left for long periods of time by herself with no one to engage with and you’d often have to hunt for a member of staff. The staff are so much more attentive at Riverdale, interacting with all the residents, and getting to know their visitors. Overall, the vibe of Riverdale Court is much more pleasant and comfortable, for both residents and visitors.
I am pleased to read that your Nan is engaging more and appears to be happier Lindsey, it is good to hear you have noticed how attentive our staff are.
Living in Plymouth I do not get to see my nan very often. Although she has deteriorated recently it was good to see she is being well cared for. She looked clean and tidy and the carers are very aware of what she needs. Despite her limited mobility she is encouraged to join in with the activities provided. I am more than happy with the way nan is looked after at Riverdale.
Thank you for your comments Stuart, letting us know that you are more than happy with the way your Nan is looked after at Riverdale; it must be comforting for you knowing that she is being well cared for.
My nan moved into Riverdale 6 months ago after living in another care home for 2 years. The only thing I’ve found disappointing so far is that we didn’t choose Riverdale from the start. My nan is a very quiet lady who doesn’t really interact well with others and she doesn’t ask for help if she needs it but since she’s been at Riverdale I can already see a change in her. The staff have encouraged her to get involved in all sorts of activities such as knitting, fitness, singing and even cheerleading! I came across the Riverdale page about a month ago and saw so many photos of my Nan enjoying herself. It was so lovely to see because she had become so withdrawn. For the money she pays in comparison to her previous home, the level of care is outstanding. When you can’t look after a relative at home you want to know that they are being looked after by people that genuinely do care and that is quite clear to see in all the staff at Riverdale. Thank you for looking after my nan.
This is wonderful news Elise, it is good to know our staff are making such a difference to the quality of life your Nan is experiencing.
I am pleasantly surprised by how well my Nan has settled in. When I visit, I often have to ask where she is as she’s in different areas of the building participating in different activities, which is lovely to see. I worried she would be lonely, but the carers always fill me in on what she’s been up to, which relatives have been to see her and how she’s been feeling. It is rare that I go in and she’s left in her wheelchair, she is usually in her chair from her home which they moved into the living area for her, sitting with other residents or talking to the staff. I was concerned that Riverdale wouldn’t be the best place for my Nan and worried about the effect it would have on her, however, I think my Grandad would be happy to see the care she is currently receiving. So far I am pleased with the home and grateful to all the staff that make her days a little better.
Lovely comments Natalie, thank you - our staff will be pleased to know how highly you speak of them.
My mum was placed at Riverdale as she has Alzheimer’s. We hear all these horror stories about care homes and was worried sick. But wow wow wow she is loving it there and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned daily and the meals and entertainment are fantastic. I’ve told my daughter this is where I want to go if I need to when I’m older. Well done to you all for providing such a great service. I work full time and can’t come as often as I would like but I can rest knowing she is in great hands.
Thank you Leanne - this is great news, so pleased you feel your mum is in good hands.
Excellent care and activities very caring staff always keep the relatives well informed and very welcoming. Such a friendly family environment, so grateful for the care they provide, brilliant.
Thank you for your comments Carole, they are very positive and it is pleasing to read. We take note of all comments, positive and negative; I see you scored food and drink quite low and wonder if you would like to let me know a bit more about that so we can try to improve things? 01795 597437 or flake@avantecare.org.uk
My mum was admitted here in December 2018, our family are so happy with mum here. Mum has so much to do. The carers do above and beyond their daily duties.
Thank you for your positive comments Debbie I am very pleased to know your family is so happy with your Mum's care.
Staff are attentive and friendly and go above and beyond, they make an effort to treat residents as equals and that this is their home. I was delighted that we were able to get nanna a place here.
From the start, they honestly cannot do enough for nanna, to make her feel comfortable, and catering to her food requests and looking after when she has been unwell.
Delighted and would definitely recommend it to others.
I was so touched to read your comments on the care your husband's Nanna receives at Riverdale Court Sarah; we are very proud of our staff and reading your comments confirms our feelings about the care they give.
Since moving to Riverdale the change in Mum has been really noticeable. She’s a quiet, introverted lady, always has been and it is easy to forget about her, leave her to her own devices.
The staff at Riverdale encourage resident interaction and it’s pleasing to visit and see Mum sat in the knitting circle or attending one of the many activities laid on.
I cannot fault the care staff they are attentive, they all know Mums name and take the time to speak to her and visitors to the home. They truly care and that’s reassuring.
The staff regularly contact me, keeping me updated with any medical concerns.
Mum enjoys the company of the other residents and the meal times, that’s never been an issue for Mum!
If you can’t look after your mum yourself then you want the next best thing and for me Riverdale is it.
Thank you for your lovely comments, Jackie. It is good to know the staff have taken the time to help her to become integrated into Riverdale Court and that you feel her care there is the next best thing to looking after her yourself. I don't think one could ask for more than that.
My husband is now a permanent resident and feels very settled and contented. It's a huge weight off my mind! Thank you one and all.
Since under new management, the care home is extremely efficiently run. The care staff are fabulous with my mum and make her feel safe and happy. The weekly/daily activities that are carried out are just outstanding. It's nice to know that my mum is in safe hands! She feels extremely safe in Riverdale Court and that because the staff and the environment are excellent.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and also reviewing your reviews I am very happy to read that you saw the changes. We feel lucky as well to have your mum at Riverdale and your support.
I will share this with all the staff :)
I often volunteer at Riverdale Court and I must say that the staff are always very supportive and caring towards the residents. There is always lots going on and the staff are friendly towards me as a volunteer.
Happy New Year
Riverdale Court's standard was excellent and the staff are very generous.
I have recently put in a complaint.
After being in the home for one month the change in him has been amazing. The staff are all happy, friendly and give him time. The home is spotlessly clean, warm and a very calm environment. The food looks lovely. He said the scrambled egg for breakfast is great! The cats wandering around is nice for the residents too. I am very happy with the home so far and would definitely recommend it.
My mother likes to roam and so I appreciate the beautiful large garden, complete with paths and a bus stop! I love the fact that she has this freedom, and it makes it well worth the 1.5-hour drive to take her there.
The rooms are beautiful - like hotel suites.
The staff are very affectionate towards the residents, and my mother, who is very tactile, loves giving them hugs!
The manager cares passionately about the welfare and comfort of the residents and services users; I googled his name and have seen that he has been the recipient of many awards. He previously ran a care home which was voted one of the top 20 in London and had a CQC rating of Outstanding.
You can rest assured that your loved one is in good hands in this establishment.
It is nice to hear good feedback and we are happy to have your mum visiting us regularly.
I will pass your kind words to all the staff.
I am always made to feel welcome.
Many thanks for your feedback Marjorie.
I have nothing but praise for the entire team in helping Mum settle in.
Thank you, Patricia, for your kind words. I will pass the message to the team.
Entertainment team and care staff are excellent and the new manager is great and caring too. Good changes made.
Many thanks for your reviews. I will pass the feedback to the team.
The staff are all warm, friendly and helpful and as such, the home has a nice, caring feel.
Thank you for your feedback.
