Perfectly acceptable care home with good overall practices. Room for improvement especially around the menu choices and meal times. Not all residents have the same needs but they are all treated the same instead of by their specialist needs especially those on short-term/respite stays. Residents are not given enough interaction based on their abilities.

For the past two years, Freelands has worked very closely with us to provide our dad with the best collaborative care and support dad's stay at Freelands. This has provided our mum with peace of mind that all of dad's needs are fully met.

Over recent days dad's health deteriorated rapidly, and this is when the Freelands team have excelled even more than usual. The care and compassion shared to our dad and our wider family has been awe-inspiring. The team have gone over and above with their support. We would like to extend our gratitude to the whole team at Freelands as we continue the journey.

My husband has recently joined Freelands. At what was a very difficult time the staff at Freelands were kind, helpful and considerate. My husband and I have no living relations and no children of our own, so after over fifty years together the decision was very difficult.

Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Freelands Croft Care Home

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your review. We hope Freelands care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible and it is always nice to hear words like "kind" and "considerate" being used to describe our care. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your husbands stay as comfortable as possible and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

We are grateful for the help you have extended to my father. He has been safe and well cared for at all times. The staff really do seem to genuinely care about residents. The thing we have most struggled with has been the, sometimes, variable quality of the food (especially as Dad is vegetarian) and the lack of contact between teams and staff members, which can make it hard to get things done or sorted out.

My husband was admitted with Alzheimer's from day one he was loved and cared for very professionally. Nothing was ever too much for the staff to do and always with a loving smile no matter what time of day or night it was. The nursing home was so well organised and run and visitors were always welcome. We were always treated with the same care as our resident.

My mother needed to be homed after suffering from a fast onset of Alzheimers. So when we started looking nursing homes, Freelands Croft Care Home came up on the list. After speaking to the management, doing a virtual tour, due to Covid-19 times and looking at the facilities, I felt comfortable for my mum to take up residency. My decision was justified when I got to meet some of the amazing staff who would go out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable. The care and support was excellent and the rooms provided adequate space to create a homely space. The management keep you up to date with what is going on in line with the current Covid-19 situation and are always on hand to help with any situations that arise, such as visiting. The grounds offer somewhere to walk with the residents although my mother was not well enough to take advantage of these and the numerous activities they have running. Freelands Croft Care Home offered exactly what we needed and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We are eternally grateful for the support and care mum has received in the past year. In particular when dad died in January and we were unable to comfort her due to lockdown. The staff were amazing, comforting her, holding her hand during the virtual funeral. They have also supported us with regular updates on her health and well-being. We cannot praise them enough.

Because my mother moved there during the pandemic, it has been very difficult to visit and I was unable to view the home prior to her being discharged there from hospital following a fall and fracture to her hip. The care staff however have been helpful and supportive and seem to treat my mum with kindness and respect. The resident liaison manager in particular has worked hard to reassure me and keep me informed about how mum is doing. We are quite a large close family and he has tried to respond to every request made by all of us.

Thank you for your review. It has been a difficult time for you not being able to see the home beforehand and with the restricted visits due to the COVID situation and thank you for understanding. I hope your mother is enjoying her stay with us and if there is anything more we can do please just let the team know.

My mother has been a resident at Freelands Croft since May 2019. As we all know there has been a national lockdown in the UK over the past 12 months due to the COVID 19 outbreak therefore I have not been able to have human contact with mum. This all changed yesterday when we were allowed the visits inside care homes! I was the first family member to enter the home to visit my lovely mum and what an emotional day it was for me to once again hold my mum's hand and sit with her to paint her nails and listen to music. The main point of this review is to say how extremely professional the team at Freelands were during the whole procedure of yesterday's visit, all safety precautions were followed to allow a safe visit for me. It all ran so smoothly thanks to the planning and preparation. I cannot commend the team enough for how well they look after our loved ones. I can sleep easy at night knowing mum is safe and in the best hands with the nurses/caregivers and staff at Freelands!

As a resident, I really enjoy my time here. The food is very nice, and the puddings are always lovely. The staff do a really good job of helping me during the day and at night. My room is nice, and I have my photos on the walls. The room needs paint, so hopefully, that'll happen soon. I love the Monday afternoon bingo.

My mum has been a resident for over 8 years now and I can not fault the nursing staff and activities team at Freelands Croft. Mum has been cared for by a loving and conscientious team of people who take the time she needs to make sure she is happy and healthy dealing with both her type 1 diabetes and Alzheimer’s. They are patient and kind with everything they need to do always putting her needs and welfare first. I am so confident that she is receiving the best care, especially during this scary time. They have FaceTimed me and I have been able to have a window visit which, although I know she doesn’t understand, has brought me much comfort. Thank you.

I cannot express my gratitude for Freelands Croft. After looking after my mum for many years we had no alternative to place her into a nursing home after her time in hospital.
As a family, we have to have trust and assurance that our precious mum is cared for with compassion, love and respect. The staff are all this and much more. Whether it's an update on mum's day or an emergency, or even just to see how mum was when she was in hospital recently. I can't thank them enough. Your professionalism, care and attention is outstanding.

Lots of love and respect.
