Freelands Croft is dedicated to caring for those with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs - with nursing, residential and short stay care.

There are 64 lovely rooms, and the home will always do its best to accommodate couples. Each of the comfortable en-suite bedrooms features their own accessible wet room, flat-screen TV and 24-hour nurse call system and many have views of their large landscaped gardens that wrap around the home. There are lots of places to choose from for some company or tranquillity.

Freelands Croft has four lounges, and a huge wrap-around garden is perfect for a gentle stroll. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

Residents can enjoy a bit of pampering in the hair salon or pop into the vintage-style café. The reminiscence room helps to recapture memories from the past.

Good food is so important for many reasons. Tempting meals and snacks can be enjoyed in the bright and airy dining rooms or in the comfort of the resident’s own room. Soon after a resident arrives at Freelands, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Visiting musicians, curry and quiz nights, and musical bingo are examples of some of the activities residents can experience, alongside weekly outings, arts and crafts or coffee mornings.

Friendly staff who make visiting a pleasant experience. Mum has settled well and is enjoying the activities. The menus look lovely and Mum really appreciates the regular supplies of tea and biscuits!

My husband was admitted with Alzheimer's from day one he was loved and cared for very professionally. Nothing was ever too much for the staff to do and always with a loving smile no matter what time of day or night it was. The nursing home was so well organised and run and visitors were always welcome.
We were always treated with the same care as our resident.

My mother needed to be homed after suffering from a fast onset of Alzheimers. So when we started looking nursing homes, Freelands Croft Care Home came up on the list. After speaking to the management, doing a virtual tour, due to Covid-19 times and looking at the facilities, I felt comfortable for my
mum to take up residency. My decision was justified when I got to meet some of the amazing staff who would go out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable. The care and support was excellent and the rooms provided adequate space to create a homely space. The management keep you up to date with what is going on in line with the current Covid-19 situation and are always on hand to help with any situations that arise, such as visiting. The grounds offer somewhere to walk with the residents although my mother was not well enough to take advantage of these and the numerous activities they have running. Freelands Croft Care Home offered exactly what we needed and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We are eternally grateful for the support and care mum has received in the past year. In particular when dad died in January and we were unable to comfort her due to lockdown. The staff were amazing, comforting her, holding her hand during the virtual funeral. They have also supported us with regular
updates on her health and well-being. We cannot praise them enough.

Because my mother moved there during the pandemic, it has been very difficult to visit and I was unable to view the home prior to her being discharged there from hospital following a fall and fracture to her hip. The care staff however have been helpful and supportive and seem to treat my mum with kindness
and respect. The resident liaison manager in particular has worked hard to reassure me and keep me informed about how mum is doing. We are quite a large close family and he has tried to respond to every request made by all of us.

Freelands Croft have looked after Mum with kindness and professionalism. They have been a great comfort to us during the pandemic. I saw her for the first time today for nearly a year and she was looking well and happy to finally see some family.

My mother has been a resident at Freelands Croft since May 2019. As we all know there has been a national lockdown in the UK over the past 12 months due to the COVID 19 outbreak therefore I have not been able to have human contact with mum. This all changed yesterday when we were allowed the visits
inside care homes! I was the first family member to enter the home to visit my lovely mum and what an emotional day it was for me to once again hold my mum's hand and sit with her to paint her nails and listen to music. The main point of this review is to say how extremely professional the team at Freelands were during the whole procedure of yesterday's visit, all safety precautions were followed to allow a safe visit for me. It all ran so smoothly thanks to the planning and preparation. I cannot commend the team enough for how well they look after our loved ones. I can sleep easy at night knowing mum is safe and in the best hands with the nurses/caregivers and staff at Freelands!

As a resident, I really enjoy my time here. The food is very nice, and the puddings are always lovely. The staff do a really good job of helping me during the day and at night. My room is nice, and I have my photos on the walls. The room needs paint, so hopefully, that'll happen soon. I love the Monday

My mum has been a resident for over 8 years now and I can not fault the nursing staff and activities team at Freelands Croft. Mum has been cared for by a loving and conscientious team of people who take the time she needs to make sure she is happy and healthy dealing with both her type 1 diabetes and
Alzheimer’s. They are patient and kind with everything they need to do always putting her needs and welfare first. I am so confident that she is receiving the best care, especially during this scary time. They have FaceTimed me and I have been able to have a window visit which, although I know she doesn’t understand, has brought me much comfort. Thank you.

I cannot express my gratitude for Freelands Croft. After looking after my mum for many years we had no alternative to place her into a nursing home after her time in hospital.
As a family, we have to have trust and assurance that our precious mum is cared for with compassion, love and respect. The
staff are all this and much more. Whether it's an update on mum's day or an emergency, or even just to see how mum was when she was in hospital recently. I can't thank them enough. Your professionalism, care and attention is outstanding.

Nothing is to much trouble for staff. The management reassurance through the COVID has been wonderful with regular updates.

Freelands Croft has been a Godsend to me and my family. I am so pleased to have found this wonderful care home for my mum. Dementia is a difficult disease to deal with and to know that she is in a special place that understands the needs and concerns of residents and their families has made it all so
much easier. The fact that she has her own lovely room with a door leading into beautiful gardens is an unexpected bonus, as is the en-suite wet room. I have also been impressed with the many activities which are arranged and video calls when visits aren’t possible. The staff are helpful, friendly and know how to build relationships with the residents and their families. I have been grateful for the communications on Mum’s general well-being, medication changes and the phone calls enabling me to speak to Mum on days when she hasn’t been coping so well.

The staff have limited storage space tending to make public areas a little untidy. Rooms should be brighter with improved lighting and consideration of layout to aid mobility. Staff have cheer, excellent caring and attentive to needs. I have no experience of the food only comments from resident's sister.
With thought and care the garden would become a great haven and attractive to the residents.

My mother has been in the home for three years and her care has been amazing. The staff are absolutely brilliant and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The rooms are lovely just like hotel rooms really and Mum's has a lovely view of the garden. The care staff, housekeepers and admin staff are
all friendly and chat to Mum when passing or in her room. The food is excellent and varied, and Mum managed to put back the weight she had lost in hospital quite soon after moving in. There are lots of lively activities and visiting relatives are allowed to join in with these too. I honestly would recommend the home to anyone who was looking for care for a loved one.

In the short time, my sister has been a resident at Freelands Croft she has become more settled and content, her behaviours are a challenge as she is a severe schizophrenic with minimal dementia. Both nursing staff and management have embraced mu sister and her illness and shown much patience understanding
and empathy to her and dealt with the learning curve and challenges she has. I have no worry that my sister is safe and cared for in everyday ar Freelands Croft. A wonderful residence and wonderful staff. Thank you all.

Overall the service provided is satisfactory. To exceed this I believe extra effort is needed in cleaning rooms, ie. dust, crumbs, biscuits are left for days. Maintainance, ie. broken folder holders in bedrooms is not resolved, step by the door to garden has no ramp. Food is very repetitive but looks
adequate. Activities are a bit repetitive too, nothing challenging. Residents get agitated by waiting for assistance for the toilet and by other residents entering their rooms, especially at night.
