Freelands Croft is dedicated to caring for those with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs - with nursing, residential and short stay care.

There are 64 lovely rooms, and the home will always do its best to accommodate couples. Each of the comfortable en-suite bedrooms features their own accessible wet room, flat-screen TV and 24-hour nurse call system and many have views of their large landscaped gardens that wrap around the home. There are lots of places to choose from for some company or tranquillity.

Freelands Croft has four lounges, and a huge wrap-around garden is perfect for a gentle stroll. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

Residents can enjoy a bit of pampering in the hair salon or pop into the vintage-style café. The reminiscence room helps to recapture memories from the past.

Good food is so important for many reasons. Tempting meals and snacks can be enjoyed in the bright and airy dining rooms or in the comfort of the resident’s own room. Soon after a resident arrives at Freelands, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Visiting musicians, curry and quiz nights, and musical bingo are examples of some of the activities residents can experience, alongside weekly outings, arts and crafts or coffee mornings.

My father who sadly passed away this week spent five and a half years at Freelands Croft Care Home. He suffered from dementia. He has the most caring passing with excellent care from all the experienced staff under the management who are first class.
During his stay, he enjoyed the food, environment
and entertainment. He was able to occupy the same room for all his 5 and a half years stay.
I am so happy that we chose Freelands Croft Care Home and would strongly recommend it. Many thanks to the management and staff over the years.

As soon as I got to Freelands, I was so welcome from day one until I left after 12 days. Everybody was so helpful and caring at any hour of the day. If there was on the menu I did not like or was able to eat, the chef would bend over backwards to get me something I would like, on odd occasions I would
be unable to eat 3 times a day.

All the staff and nurses were excellent, superb. I can't praise them enough for what they did for me. The hairdresser to the cleaners were all so excellent in every department, everybody looked after me well all the time. I am looking forward to the next time I go back for another holiday, it's so laid back that you forget they are the staff who are looking after you. Thank you very much.

My mother recently passed away and I would just like to commend all the staff and management at Freelands Croft for the caring, professional and empathetic way they looked after my mother. She was always a lady of dignity and your staff ensured she felt this way until her passing.
They are all a credit
to your business.

I have been staying at Freelands Croft for 5 weeks respite and I have been happy, content, have been made welcome and have had a free run during my stay. I have received help and support as I have needed it and the staff are all wonderful.
If respite is needed in future, I would certainly return to
Freeland Croft.

I was greeted by the home manager and taken to his room by his deputy. The room was pleasant and had an en suite toilet and shower. Over the next few days I met several carers all cheerful efficient and gentle. The call button was always swiftly responded to. The cook dealt well with my special diet.
I am looking forward to my next stay at Freelands Croft.

I found visiting a bit testing at times, but the support was there if I needed it, but being a private person I kept my feelings to myself.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.561)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.561) out of 10 for Freelands Croft Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.561 for Freelands Croft Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (229 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 330 Ratings = 4.561
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Freelands Croft Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
