My mum has been in 1SC since December 2025, with a number of complex needs resulting from a car accident then a full in hospital which lead to her having many brain surgeries. Before coming here she was at a level 1 rehabilitation hospital however, rather than getting better she sadly got worse, that's
when we found 1SC and fell in love with it. The staff have all become our friends and always on hand to answer any questions we have and give us honest advice.
My mum calls them " my care home family" which speaks volumes for how well she's settled in.

My husband was in 1 Sewardstone Close from 25th October 2025 up until 19th March 2026 until he was sent to hospital seriously dehydrated as he is PEG fed! and has complex needs resulting in a stroke he had in 2024 .
How can a nursing home cause this , ask yourself as the hospital have done a safeguarding
investigation as they were shocked as how this possibly could happen?? - Easy lack of care, nurses laughing as carers pull faces behind you're back ( you know who you are!) when confronted about the lack of care given,
A Manager who is more interested in going out side for a fag with the receptionist and maintenance guy god knows how many times a day , then the wellbeing of the residents. Please do not get sucked in by the fancy home, gym - that is used as an office instead of for residents, and surroundings as it's all a show if you love you're loved ones then please avoid this poor excuse of a home like the plague for their own good.
Reply from Marie Goodwin, Home Manager at 1 Sewardstone CloseThank you for taking the time to leave a review. We were sorry to read that you remain unhappy with your husband's experience at our home.
Please be assured that throughout your husband's stay, his wellbeing remained our priority. We worked closely with healthcare professionals to support his changing needs, and your concerns were taken seriously and reviewed.
When our team became concerned about changes in his condition, we arranged a GP review and acted promptly on the advice provided, resulting in his admission to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
While we cannot discuss personal medical details publicly, dehydration can occur for a variety of complex clinical reasons, particularly in people with significant health needs.

My father has been in 3 different care homes over the past 8 years and none of them compare to here. I feel at ease knowing he’s getting the care he needs and that he is very well looked after in a clean, caring environment.

What a fantastic place. I visited my brother for the first time today and the staff are absolutely brilliant with residents and there are plenty of activities for everyone. I met the lovely person who's caring for my brother and is absolutely fantastic with him. He's built such a bond with her and has
improved so much. Thank you all for the lovely welcome and for looking after all the residents the way you guys do.

Our son has been at the home since it opened. Generally, the standard of care is very good - about the best we have seen. Our biggest complaint is the frequent change of manager which is not good for continuity.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.4 (6.389) out of 10 for 1 Sewardstone Close is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.2 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.217 for 1 Sewardstone Close is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 3.217
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.172 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for 1 Sewardstone Close is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.8 = 0.172
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
