The excellent management and care team at Kentford Manor supported us with a short notice requirement for care for our dad, they were efficient, friendly, and guided us through a difficult situation with professionalism and always with dad's wellbeing at the centre of all they did. They helped us at
each step of the process and resulted in dad transitioning to his new home successfully and safely. Facilities are in excellent condition, clean and bright with dad being given a newly renovated beautiful room.

At all times, the staff have been very helpful and caring, nothing is too much trouble, the staff will always do their very best to assure my sister's needs are met. The staff are friendly and welcoming to all my sister's visitors. My sister has no complaints regarding the food and thoroughly enjoys
the variety of meals provided. The Bistro provides beverages, biscuits and cakes and is a pleasant room for my sister to meet and catch-up with friends and family.
Reply from Julia Forsyth, Reviews Team at Kentford ManorThank you for your wonderful feedback. Welcoming, friendly and pleasant staff who are ready to assist where necessary when I visit my friend. She reports feeling well cared for (even though she sometimes has to point out some small things are not to her personal choice). She is provided with "non menu" food to suit her preferences. Overall
I feel that should I need full time care that Kentford Manor would be a good place to receive it.

Kentford Manor is a modern and airy home to many elderly folk including my Mum who was admitted at the start of this year.

Managers, support and nursing staff are really outstanding. Their care and interest is genuine and never superficial, even though Mum at 99yrs can be difficult.

As family,

we value the welcome extended us when visiting and the light hearted atmosphere reassured us that Kentford Manor folk enjoy their vital work.

Our father stayed at Kentford Manor from September 2023 until his passing in March 2025. Initially there for respite care, he had to stay longer after a fall. For 18 months, our father bravely faced heart failure and edema. The Kentford Manor team provided exceptional care, including catering, laundry,
cleaning, and medical support, alongside genuine companionship, ensuring he never felt lonely. As regular visitors, we appreciated the compassionate reception team and management, who facilitated open communication and efficient operations. The decision to move to a care home is significant, and Kentford Manor might be right for those finding self-care increasingly difficult. The wonderful team at Kentford Manor provided invaluable support to Peter and our family, especially in the last weeks of his life. We are forever grateful to these amazing people for their unwavering care and companionship during such a challenging time.

Our dad, came to Kentford Manor initially for respite care and like it so much he stayed as an independent resident which provided him with a good routine great nursing staff and excellent care. His washing and cooking was all done for him and he was very content and that gave us a piece of mind that
he was being well cared for with regular checks (thanks to a particular staff member) sadly a fall last month turned everything on its side. Dad spent time in hospital before coming back to Kentford Manor to receive end of life care.
Once again the staff, all of them blew us away with their compassion and kindness from the two staff members as you arrive to three other staff members in particular the list goes on for the fabulous care staff, then are deep felt thanks to the Nursing team for the amazing treatment you gave to our father. A particular member of staff holds a special place in our hearts!
Lifestyle coordination your team are angles
We will be forever grateful not only for the respect you gave to our dad but you showed to us

During both the short & long 4 weeks, that my partner received End of Life Care at Kentford Manor, for me, one service provided stood out. Kentford is not like a hospice. It is a large purpose built home, in which the precious end of a person's life could easily be lost, amongst the other provision.
Upside of this, is the business can afford to employ a Customer Care manager, part of whose responsibility is supporting two way communication with family, loved ones, the service user and others. Had this person not been there to mediate, the loss of my partner would be even more difficult to face than it is. Professionally neutral, she remains extraordinarily empathic, intuitive, considerate, caring and kind. I hope she never loses her touch, as the service she provides is indispensable.I cannot thank the home enough for their gentle and inclusive welcome, ensuring that the quality of my last hours with the deceased, were as good, for both of us as possible, under the circumstances.

Mum and Dad moved to Kentford Manor just before Christmas and we couldn't be happier with their experience. Everyone has done everything possible to help them settle in and feel at home -' even providing a new 55" TV because of my mum's poor eyesight. The whole team are so friendly and responsive and
they genuinely seem to want to help.

I called Kentford Manor and asked them if they would be able to take my father directly from Spain. He lived in Spain and had suffered heart failure. I needed to get him back to the UK and the professional ongoing care he needed.
Kentford Manor was my saving grace. They agreed they would take him
with the information I had and would do assessments on arrival. I was exhausted and stressed and my father was in poor health due to the journey and long day.
On arrival at Kentford Manor, everyone was ready to help us. They took over the care immediately of my father and also took care of me. I was able to go home that evening knowing he was in safe hands and I could take a step back. The staff have been so kind, patient, attentive, and considerate. It's been a huge adjustment for him leaving his home and dealing with a chronic health condition.
I look back now almost a week ago and know that without the amazing staff and management at Kentford Manor things could have been so different.

As a family we relocated are beloved mum To 'Kentford Manor'. She had been impeccably cared for by the hospice but unfortunately had to be moved.
On the wishes of our mum, who was at end of life care, she asked to go into a care home as she didn't want her daughters and husband to have to care for
her at home. We as a family carried out her wishes. On looking at reviews we decided on Kentford Manor thinking this would be the best for our mum. Please do not send a loved one to the Kentford Manor for end of life care. The 'care' that our mum received was despicable and disgusting to say the least. We witnessed things that no family should have to go through and have had no apology or feedback whatsoever which we had been advised that we would receive. We are obviously taking this much further but felt a review was needed so as no-one has to go through the heartache that we went through at an already incredibly difficult time.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Kentford ManorI would like to apologise to read of your experience for your family and mum whilst in the care of Kentford Manor. This is not to the high standards we hold ourselves to at Care UK. I am sorry to read it was heartbreaking. I understand we have now responded to your concerns and learnings have been taken to ensure improvements are made. I would like to reassure you that feedback and listening to your concerns is important to us. Please know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Best wishes.

The staff here have been absolutely outstanding, amazing and really very nice too. My parents have moved into a beautiful double room, together, all at very short notice and in challenging circumstances. It has been seamless, the home is exactly that, they fit right in, are very well looked after and
the whole place has a warm friendly and efficient atmosphere. Mum and Dad are happy, already looking more healthy, less worn and very comfortable, at home. The medical staff are very thorough, the food amazing and the managers are very committed, caring, friendly people. I recommend anyone who wants their parents to have a fantastic place to relax to consider our experience at Kentford as a pointer in the right direction. I am so happy to have found this gem.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.745)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.745) out of 10 for Kentford Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.745 for Kentford Manor is calculated as follows: ( (235 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 271 Ratings = 4.745
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kentford Manor is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I started working at Care UK in 2014 through an agency for Glastonbury Court. I’m proud to have worked my way up, having started in the domestic team, then moved into care and a managerial position as a residential lead at Davers Court, followed by Home Manager roles at Mildenhall Lodge and now Kentford Manor.

I see managing a care home as a privilege. I am very passionate about my role and doing the best for the home, residents, relatives and colleagues. I believe that being open and honest, relatable, reliable and approachable to all groups is very important to achieve the best outcomes for all.

I love working at Kentford Manor because of the challenge of my new role, and I’m excited to build new relationships with the team and, most of all, the lovely residents and families here.

To be successful in this role, you need to have patience, empathy, and an understanding of different residents, staff, and family members. You should be polite, always be there to listen and try and understand every situation through different eyes.

The best part of my job is seeing the residents happy, having fun and being able to live their lives the best they can.

A big passion of mine is football, and I love to spend time with my daughter. We love to watch her dad play football all weekend.
