Respite stays are subject to a 20% uplift on the prices shown above. Fees are subject to a pre-admission
needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level of care and support required by each
individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge. Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing
Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible.

My father has been in Kentford Manor for nearly three months after a fall at home and he had decided to stay long-term. He finds all the staff very friendly and helpful and enjoys the activities which are arranged for the residents most weekday mornings and afternoons (although he is the only man who
goes to these). He seems much happier than being home alone since my mother died.
However, he does think that the home is short-staffed (I daresay this is the same everywhere) as the staff are always very busy and he does not like to ask for help getting showered or dressed. He says there is plentiful food and a choice but it is not restaurant standard. He enjoys a beer with his lunchtime meal and likes to be able to give visitors a posh coffee from the machine in the bar area.
He has a new widescreen TV and a telephone landline in his sunny ground floor room. Everywhere is carpeted which makes it homely and it has a nice, well-maintained sunny garden for the residents to enjoy.

I would like to take a moment to reassure you that the home is not short-staffed in any way, and we always make sure we have plenty of team members in the home to keep residents safe and supported seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All meals are prepared in-house by our chef-led team, using fresh local ingredients where available, with plenty of choice and menus planned with feedback from residents – if you, or your dad, could let us know what meals aren’t quite up to par, we will, of course, look into this. If there’s also anything he would also like added to the menu, we can discuss this too and make sure there are some of his favourites included. Unfortunately because of my partner's Parkinson's and not being mobile he doesn't want to join in any activities or social events provided. Also has his meals etc in his room with assistance feeding. Having said this, the staff are very friendly and helpful with this problem.

We moved my mother-in-law to Kentford Manor at the end of March. It was difficult to start with because her dementia meant that she could not understand why she needed to be there and it was only because of the skill and attention of the highly experienced staff that she gradually began to settle. She
loves the food, often points out how nice her room is, and frequently participates in the many interesting activities the staff lay on for the residents. This week, she had been doing some gardening, which she very much enjoyed. She still has some way to go, but we are very impressed with the care she has received at Kentford.

I love the balance of professionalism, care, respect, and autonomy given to my Mum. She is looked after carefully.


All staff seem to have integrity and understanding. This can be taxed in some difficult circumstances at times but they feel like a strong and exemplary team.


The Home is proactive,

welcoming, and always clean and tidy. My Mum has engaged with many of the activities and is comfortable and content with her surroundings.


I have nothing but gratitude and huge respect for the individual staff that I see most often.

My husband has been at the home for 6-months during which time he has had consistently good care. The carers know his needs and cope well with the changes in behaviour that dementia causes. I visit him daily and any concerns I have are dealt with in a professional and caring manner. The carers work
tirelessly to enable the residents to have a good quality of life and I can’t praise them enough. The highlight of my husband's day is the tasty meals which he enjoys. Thank you to all of the staff for looking after my husband.

The place is immaculate, bright and has a friendly atmosphere. From the moment one enters the premises there is a sense of professionalism and attention to detail in the care of residents - from clothing through to fingernail polish etc - all giving residents in their twilight times a sense that they
matter. The rooms are clean and tidy, the food is nutritious - not overly fancy just good and gives the residents a balanced diet. The residents are given water/fruit juice throughout the day - and it is always available. I would recommend the care home to anyone.

My wife had suffered from dementia for approximately eighteen months prior to our search for residential care accommodation and following a consultation process (Gracewell) Kentford Manor was recommended by a very reliable authority.
First impressions were and have remained most impressive concerning
the personnel and the accommodation. I have come to appreciate and rely upon the eclectic coalition of professional disciplines that coalesce well and constitute a hugely talented staffing element demonstrating professionalism altruism in support of my wife's condition.
There obtains an overwhelming desire to support the residents, and visitors, which acts as a catalyst to further develop the function to the highest standards. This extends to the diversity of the stimulating content constituting the activities' sessions with all elements forming specific and consistent pathways to excellence.
In my experience levels of professionalism and service we have relied upon and I trust will be maintained.

The ambience is lovely. The staff very caring and helpful. Food is great. Every care is taken to look after Aunty who has been there for a couple of years. Her room is kept clean and she appears comfortable and well looked after. Indeed she has put weight on since arriving as she loves the food. She
is commonly to be found enjoying the regular activities or sitting in the lounge listening to music or watching a film.

My 98-year-old sister-in-law a very private lady became unwell and unable to cope at home so, therefore, needed complete nursing care. Therefore, we the family needed to find a suitable care home that would suit her needs. This we thought could be a problem however, thanks to wonderful Gracewell and
the care she receives she is very happy there and calls it home.

The care my mum receives is excellent, all staff treats mum like family. They encourage her to take part in the day to day activities that enriched her life. The home is always clean and tidy. As family members, we are always made to feel welcome and have formed strong bonds with many of the staff.

We have always been very happy with the care provided by Grace well of Kentford. Over the last year, with all the problems of a global pandemic, we have really appreciated the effort that management and staff have made to make sure we can continue to see dad without compromising his, or our, safety.

As I live in the USA I have not been able to personally visit the UK due to travel restrictions. I can only say that all my communications with Gracewell, either by telephone or email, have been excellent. Their responses have been very timely, informational, very friendly and professional. It is very
difficult when you have so many miles plus time differences to grapple with. Every time I have sent an email to inquire about the health and well-being of my sister a response has been forthcoming within twelve hours. Every time I have telephoned I have always been transferred to a carer that can give me the updates that I need in a speedy fashion. Based on these responses, I would have no hesitation in recommending Gracewell to anyone seeking to place a loved one in a care facility.

I had had no experience of Care Homes until my late mum went to live in Gracewell of Kentford for the last three months of her life. I was so impressed by the care and kindness shown to mum that I wanted to write this review. Firstly, the nurses and carers are all highly professional and all my family
had great confidence in them. They all treated mum wonderfully, mindful of her dignity at all times. There was laughter, humour, consideration and flexibility. Every resident is a guest. The manager and staff are clearly determined to create a family atmosphere. Gracewell is like a hotel, with lovely decor, fresh flowers, fun activities and delicious food! Gracewell proved its worth during the pandemic - realising the importance to residents and family of visiting, the staff did absolutely everything they could to ensure we were able to visit mum every day safely. We will be eternally grateful for this. All care homes should be like Gracewell.

Gracewell of Kentford have been absolutely fabulous in looking after my mother in this most challenging of times. When I have been able to see her she has always looked so well. My mother has been resident for over 7 years and when she entered the home was not in a good way. She has received both great
care and attention and the most comforting for me is knowing that the same people have been caring for her over the years. I have only great praise and heart-felt thanks to all the team for looking after her so well.

Gracewell of Kentford provides an excellent service in caring for my mum with her dementia requirements. The staff give a loving and compassionate environment and help to bring out my mum on her bad days and encourage her on her good days.
The food is fantastic, and they adapt this to what the resident
requires.
As a relative, I have always felt included in decisions made for my mum and kept informed on what is happening within the home.
During Covid19 lockdown, their communications were outstanding.

Mum has been a resident at Gracewell since July 2019 and we are so pleased that we chose Gracewell as her care home. I feel that the home provides first-class accommodation while managing to feel ‘homely’. Mum has a bright, sunny room at the front of the building, enabling her to watch all the comings
and goings. Everyone who has visited comments on how clean and fresh the home feels.
The care and support that Mum receives are second to none. She is always treated with dignity and compassion. I can’t fault the dedication of the staff. This has been especially apparent during the Covid 19 crisis when they have gone above and beyond to ensure that Mum is safe and loved.
Gracewell offers a wide variety of activities and residents are encouraged to join in. Mum particularly enjoys the lovely gardens, curling and bingo. There are regular visits from outside entertainers and frequent parties to celebrate special dates.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gracewell.

My Mum has been a resident at Gracewell since July 2019. Over the past 10 weeks, since visiting has not been possible due to Covid-19, we feel that the care, support and love given to my mum has just been amazing. The introduction of tablets into the home has just been brilliant and this enables my
mum to enjoy video calls most days with one of her daughters or grandchildren which is so beneficial. The drive by event organised yesterday which enabled family members to see their loved ones for the first time in many weeks was truly inspirational and very emotional. A huge thank you to all the staff at Gracewell.

I cannot fault this care home at all. The staff all go above and beyond expectations in their level of care. In these difficult times when we can't visit they have purchased I-Pads and arrange FaceTime slots regularly. Nothing is too much trouble. Always very helpful if contacted by phone. They arrange
so many activities and ensure that all residents are included. I would certainly recommend this home for anyone who is having to make that very difficult decision.

Gracewell has established a very easy atmosphere which is not in any way institutionalised. It is very comfortable and the residents seem to enjoy the food and partake in the activities.
The office staff are very approachable and deal with administrative matters efficiently.

Lovely, clean care home. Staff try to meet all client's wishes and if ever I have had to ask I have always been met with a positive and helpful response. My only worry at present is I wish residents could be helped or encouraged to be in the lovely garden a bit more. I do appreciate that the staff is

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager

I have 20 years of experience in the care industry, most recently working as a manager for a large domiciliary and complex care agency.


I joined Care UK for the opportunities it would open as one of the UK’s leading care providers.


As a manager, I think the most important part of my role is listening. It's also essential to be empathetic, able to prioritise and have a good sense of humour.


Any time I can spend talking to residents and my team is my favourite part of the day. Seeing residents and their families happy makes me feel fulfilled in my role.


When I’m not working, I enjoy singing and walking my Dalmatian.
