My experience at Kentford Manor is a pleasant one. I have no reason at all to complain about any response from staff when making any requests.

My father needed a new care home after his care needs changed suddenly. I contacted Kentford Manor after a recommendation who answered promptly and with understanding of my father's situation. From there on they handled everything to get my father into the home. I whole home is lovely, bright and very modern with great activities and friendly, helpful and caring staff. I am so pleased my father is in Kentford Manor as I have the peace of mind he is well cared for. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do to look after my father.

My mother feels safe and well cared for at Kentford Manor. The staff are very caring and treat residents with kindness and compassion. The meals are well prepared and served in a stylish dining room. A programme of activities is circulated weekly, led by two coordinators. The presence of nursing staff is very reassuring. I feel there is a 'culture of kindness' at Kentford Manor.

My sister has been a resident at Kentford Manor for just over 3 years. With the friendly support of the staff, she settled into her nicely decorated ensuite room, with direct access to the beautifully maintained garden, very quickly. She enjoys joining in with the varied outings and activities with the group of friends she has made.

Very friendly staff, clean, good nursing care, my mother is a strong willed person who knows what she wants and can be quite stubborn at times as I’m sure your staff know but the fact is they look after and manage her ways so well.

My father has been a resident for the last 18 months since becoming too frail and forgetful to look after himself.
He is well supported by the caring staff, regularly showered and shaved and his basic needs are well catered for.
Out of choice he does not socialise, he spends most of his time in his room but he eats well, is kept clean and his medication is properly administered.

It is comforting to know he is in a safe, secure and friendly environment

We have seen several care homes, and this was by far the best. The rooms are lovely and spacious, and the meals are great. Also, the staff have been very nice, and there are lots of activities. We are very happy with this care home.

A warm, friendly welcome is always waiting at reception, which sums up the whole atmosphere in this building. The staff work very hard but are always willing to have a friendly chat. Mum-in-law was a resident in her final years, so we had no hesitation in placing Mum in here when she was finding life in her own house a bit too much. After three months here, she takes part in lots of brilliantly organised activities and has been made very welcome. Can't thank all the lovely staff at Kentford enough!

My father has been in Kentford Manor for nearly three months after a fall at home and he had decided to stay long-term. He finds all the staff very friendly and helpful and enjoys the activities which are arranged for the residents most weekday mornings and afternoons (although he is the only man who goes to these). He seems much happier than being home alone since my mother died.
However, he does think that the home is short-staffed (I daresay this is the same everywhere) as the staff are always very busy and he does not like to ask for help getting showered or dressed. He says there is plentiful food and a choice but it is not restaurant standard. He enjoys a beer with his lunchtime meal and likes to be able to give visitors a posh coffee from the machine in the bar area.

He has a new widescreen TV and a telephone landline in his sunny ground floor room. Everywhere is carpeted which makes it homely and it has a nice, well-maintained sunny garden for the residents to enjoy.

Unfortunately because of my partner's Parkinson's and not being mobile he doesn't want to join in any activities or social events provided. Also has his meals etc in his room with assistance feeding. Having said this, the staff are very friendly and helpful with this problem.

We moved my mother-in-law to Kentford Manor at the end of March. It was difficult to start with because her dementia meant that she could not understand why she needed to be there and it was only because of the skill and attention of the highly experienced staff that she gradually began to settle. She loves the food, often points out how nice her room is, and frequently participates in the many interesting activities the staff lay on for the residents. This week, she had been doing some gardening, which she very much enjoyed. She still has some way to go, but we are very impressed with the care she has received at Kentford.

I love the balance of professionalism, care, respect, and autonomy given to my Mum. She is looked after carefully.

All staff seem to have integrity and understanding. This can be taxed in some difficult circumstances at times but they feel like a strong and exemplary team.

The Home is proactive, welcoming, and always clean and tidy. My Mum has engaged with many of the activities and is comfortable and content with her surroundings.

I have nothing but gratitude and huge respect for the individual staff that I see most often.

My husband has been at the home for 6-months during which time he has had consistently good care. The carers know his needs and cope well with the changes in behaviour that dementia causes. I visit him daily and any concerns I have are dealt with in a professional and caring manner. The carers work tirelessly to enable the residents to have a good quality of life and I can’t praise them enough. The highlight of my husband's day is the tasty meals which he enjoys. Thank you to all of the staff for looking after my husband.

The place is immaculate, bright and has a friendly atmosphere. From the moment one enters the premises there is a sense of professionalism and attention to detail in the care of residents - from clothing through to fingernail polish etc - all giving residents in their twilight times a sense that they matter. The rooms are clean and tidy, the food is nutritious - not overly fancy just good and gives the residents a balanced diet. The residents are given water/fruit juice throughout the day - and it is always available. I would recommend the care home to anyone.

Overall Experience
My wife had suffered from dementia for approximately eighteen months prior to our search for residential care accommodation and following a consultation process (Gracewell) Kentford Manor was recommended by a very reliable authority.
First impressions were and have remained most impressive concerning the personnel and the accommodation. I have come to appreciate and rely upon the eclectic coalition of professional disciplines that coalesce well and constitute a hugely talented staffing element demonstrating professionalism altruism in support of my wife's condition.
There obtains an overwhelming desire to support the residents, and visitors, which acts as a catalyst to further develop the function to the highest standards. This extends to the diversity of the stimulating content constituting the activities' sessions with all elements forming specific and consistent pathways to excellence.

In my experience levels of professionalism and service we have relied upon and I trust will be maintained.

The ambience is lovely. The staff very caring and helpful. Food is great. Every care is taken to look after Aunty who has been there for a couple of years. Her room is kept clean and she appears comfortable and well looked after. Indeed she has put weight on since arriving as she loves the food. She is commonly to be found enjoying the regular activities or sitting in the lounge listening to music or watching a film.

My 98-year-old sister-in-law a very private lady became unwell and unable to cope at home so, therefore, needed complete nursing care. Therefore, we the family needed to find a suitable care home that would suit her needs. This we thought could be a problem however, thanks to wonderful Gracewell and the care she receives she is very happy there and calls it home.

We have always been very happy with the care provided by Grace well of Kentford. Over the last year, with all the problems of a global pandemic, we have really appreciated the effort that management and staff have made to make sure we can continue to see dad without compromising his, or our, safety. This has been so important for all of us and we are really grateful.

Meet the Team (1)

Hannah Nurse
Hannah NurseJob Title:Home Manager

I started working at Care UK in 2014 through an agency for Glastonbury Court. I’m proud to have worked my way up, having started in the domestic team, then moved into care and a managerial position as a residential lead at Davers Court, followed by Home Manager roles at Mildenhall Lodge and now Kentford Manor.

I see managing a care home as a privilege. I am very passionate about my role and doing the best for the home, residents, relatives and colleagues. I believe that being open and honest, relatable, reliable and approachable to all groups is very important to achieve the best outcomes for all.

I love working at Kentford Manor because of the challenge of my new role, and I’m excited to build new relationships with the team and, most of all, the lovely residents and families here.

To be successful in this role, you need to have patience, empathy, and an understanding of different residents, staff, and family members. You should be polite, always be there to listen and try to understand every situation through different eyes.

The best part of my job is seeing the residents happy, having fun and being able to live their lives the best they can.

A big passion of mine is football, and I love to spend time with my daughter. We love to watch her dad play football all weekend.
