My mum has been a resident at Lincombe Manor for over five years. When she was first admitted we thought she might have only months to live but it is a testament to the excellent care given by all the wonderful staff that she is still with us and today we celebrated her 90th Birthday. We thought Mum
would struggle to live in a care home because she has always been fiercely independent but Lincombe Manor has clearly given her a new lease of life, many thanks to the manager and the wonderful caring and friendly staff, who are professional at all times.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreThank you for such a wonderful review. It means a great deal to us at Lincombe when we see the recognition of our efforts from established relatives such as yourselves. To know that you trust us to provide excellent care for Mum after five years really is a testament to the team's passion for getting it right. Mum certainly has been nursed back to full strength remaining fiercely independent at the grand age of 90. She is Lincombe Manor's very own champion bingo caller and we could not do without her. Thank you for all your kindness and support over the years. It really does mean a lot to us.

Own a fourth-year anniversary, the love shown by all staff is and continues to be superb. And the care shown is still the very best. My thanks to all who look after my wife.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreFour years! How can that be! If this past year of my joining Lincombe Manor has been as pleasurable as your previous three years then I am privileged to be part of your continued happiness with the care we provide for your darling wife. We wouldn't be without either of you. Thank you for your constant support and kindness.

Mum has been at Lincombe Manor since January. From our very first visit, every member of staff has always been so very welcoming and lovely to us. As a family, we now feel we have peace of mind knowing that Mum is so well cared for. I have visited many care homes over the years. I can honestly say that
Lincombe Manor is one of the best care homes by far. It is in such a lovely setting with amazing views from the residents' lounge. As soon as anything is of concern regarding mum's health, for example, infection or increased pain, it is acted on immediately. Again giving us peace of mind as this was always something that was very challenging when Mum was living independently.
Mum really enjoys the activities. When she is able to attend. They always make them good fun for the residents.
Thank you to all the caring staff for looking after our mum so well. It is such a comfort to know she is safe and we all feel part of the family when we visit.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreWhat a beautiful review, thank you. It is our pleasure to care for your mum and to enable her to live well. It is good to know that you and your family have peace of mind in the knowledge that your mum is being well cared for and that all of your concerns are dealt with immediately. We are very lucky to be in such a scenic location, we are all spoilt with the views that we have. Your mum really does make the most out of the facilities that we have to offer, throwing herself into the activities. We all enjoy your visits. It's nice to know that you have been made to feel so welcome and part of the Lincombe family.

As a self funding resident, whom at the age of 94 we expected better care and communication for premium rates. Poor communication, leading to a very poorly Dad admitted to hospital. Dangerously high blood pressure and bruising that couldn't and wouldn't be explained. A manager that runs a care home
more like a business than a care provider. Wouldn't take our concerns seriously - emergency removal to another home. Beware, the building might be beautiful but is the care?
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreIt is disappointing to read your review. We understand it is difficult when a loved one is unwell. When you raised your concerns to me at the time, I took them seriously and offered to meet with you, which you declined to do. Both CQC and Safeguarding also reviewed your concerns and confirmed that they were unfounded and that Lincombe Manor had followed all procedures correctly in the care of your father-in-law. Thank you for saying our building is beautiful. It reflects the quality care we deliver at Lincombe for all of our residents. Your father-in-law was a true gentleman who formed strong bonds with the staff that cared for him during his 9 month stay. We are sorry that we are no longer able to care for him, and hope that he has settled into his new home as well as he settled into Lincombe.

My mother received the best care and support from everyone at Lincombe Manor Care Centre. Love, comfort and dignity were always given to her. The same kindness was given to me as a visitor, it was so kind and reassuring. The facilities were of a high standard and beautiful location, the very best I
could have wished for. Thank you to all.

We had the most wonderful experience at a most tragic time.
The care of our late mother was absolutely outstanding with kindness, empathy and professionalism for our mother and for us as a family. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and in the most beautiful of settings.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreIt was our pleasure looking after your mother during the short period of time that she was with us. Dad stays in Lincombe Manor for respite every 3-4 months, we chose this home as the staff are really friendly and greet Dad as part of the family. The rooms are very well decorated, comfortable and have en-suite facilities. He enjoys the varied food and I feel reassured that the staff are there 24/7
for him if he needs them. Dad never participates but the daily activities and entertainment look great.
If you are looking for five-star accommodation and facilities then Lincombe Manor is the right care home for you.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreThank you for this fabulous review. We always look forward to when your dad stays. He brings an element of fun with him each time. It is a friendly home and we are pleased that this can be felt by those that come here. It's important to us that everyone feels at home and reassured that their relatives are being cared for with kindness. The accommodation is well presented and it's great that you have acknowledged this with 5 stars.

Mum was taken into Hewitt Lodge at short notice after being checked for a broken hip and being confused. I was in shock but the staff made me feel confident that Mum was in the best place. A particular member of staff was the first person I spoke to and she has been an incredible support. The other
staff who have been particularly good, both with Mum and with me, are another four particular staff members and some of the housekeeping and catering staff.
All professional, whilst being friendly. Mum has improved tremendously and is better than in quite some time. Good to see her chatting with staff and other residents. Laughing a lot too! Staff have helped with Mum to phone friends and family.
We have had regular updates on the process of assessment, her treatment and her improvements too.
I knew Mum needed to be there but I was not looking forward to spending time there myself. I should not have worried. It is a pleasant and welcoming place and I've sat and joined in with jigsaws, crosswords etc.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreThank you for your review. I'm pleased that you were able to feel the support that the team have to offer. They are very knowledgeable and able to provide good advice. It's nice to hear that your mum improved due to the care that she received in Hewitt. Laughter is the best therapy! Friends and family are always welcome and it's good to see that you were included in some of the activities and felt relaxed whilst you spent time with Mum.

This review is for Hewitt Lodge. Our elderly (91) family friend has been at Hewitt Lodge until recently after being discharged from hospital after hip surgery. The staff were all very kind and attentive and he enjoyed his stay there. The care he received was very respectful and delivered with a sense
of humour which he appreciated. He really enjoyed the food and the facilities were excellent. He has fully agreed to me writing a review for them.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreThank you so much for such a positive review. The staff in Hewitt are indeed very kind and attentive and work incredibly hard in supporting people in preparation for their return home. They certainly do have a great sense of humour so it's lovely to hear your friend was so appreciative of it. I'm pleased to hear that he enjoyed the food it is always of a high quality and the chefs will be thrilled to know that it hit the spot.

From the moment you enter the building, it is obvious that this is a care home of high quality. The admin team are always on hand to help with any questions and handle them swiftly, efficiently and always with a smile. The care staff are second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. There is also an
army of unsung heroes/heroines behind the scenes who work just as hard to make the residents feel at home, from keeping the home clean, hanging a picture on the wall, keeping the residents entertained, cooking high-quality meals, delivering drinks and so much more. The nursing care is also second to none. Happiness radiates throughout the building. The staff take very good care of the residents and also care for their relatives. Although my mother's illness caused constant pain, she embraced Lincombe Manor life as much as she was able and the last few weeks of her life were as happy as they could possibly have been.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreThis review made me feel so emotional when I read it. I know the decision to trust us to care for your mother during the final stages of her life was a difficult one, but we are honoured that you chose us. My goodness though, didn't she settle in and enjoy all that we had to offer. It was our pleasure to care for her. You were so lovely to all of us when you came for your visits. Your acknowledgement of all the departments and the quality of the service they deliver means the world to them. It is a super team of people, and it is good to know how the happiness radiates throughout the Home. Your review has made us all very proud of how much you value us.

I have been visiting Lincombe Manor twice a week for over a year and always find dedicated and friendly staff from the minute you enter the building. The care centre has a calm and happy atmosphere and I always feel very welcome and at home while I'm there. It's not unusual to hear a member of staff
singing softly or sharing a funny story while going about their duties.

Wow! This is what care homes should be like. Have not seen my mum so relaxed for ages. Care is top-notch, always making sure my mum is OK and adjusting her pain meds as appropriate. Facilities, as my daughter said are insane! So good. Still early days to comment on activities and food and drink but
so far so good. Some meals are excellent, some just good. I'm now a believer in palliative care where as I used to think we couldn't do it. So happy my mum's last days will be in comfort (with a bit of luxury).
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreI second your wow! What an amazing review. Your mum has settled in so well and made Lincombe Manor her home, enjoying all of the facilities that we have to offer. Kind people who look after me. Make me feel good about myself. I feel safe, I feel I am well-cared for. My wishes and my requests are always respected and taken into consideration. I enjoy the food. I enjoy my views. Staff members go beyond their ways to make sure I feel good. I feel homely here. This
place makes it easy for me to be connected with my distant family in Australia and the world. I get my newspaper every day, I get my hair done etc.

Lincombe Manor is one of the best nursing homes in the area and we are grateful they were able to take our mother for her final weeks.
However, there were some shortcomings in her care which concerned us - in fairness this may have been partly due to the fact that our mother’s health was worse when
she arrived than the hospital had led Lincombe Manor to believe, but things could have been picked up and acted on sooner - particularly with regard to nutrition and medication.
Communication was quite poor throughout her stay and we were quite shocked and upset that not a single person from the home offered their condolences on our mother's passing, apart from the nurse who came to her room to confirm she had passed. From the moment we left the building that day we did not receive any further contact.
So whilst Lincombe Manor is one of the best nursing homes around, I would caution perhaps not for end-of-life care unless already an established resident.
Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care CentreWe are grateful for your kind words about Lincombe Manor Care Centre being one of the best nursing homes in the area, although acknowledge your comments about your experience. We take great pride in our end-of-life care and have a wealth of knowledge and expertise within the team, working very closely with the local hospice, hospital and GP services, to be able to provide the best care and support to our residents and their families.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
