Newstone House is located in the ancient market town of Sturminster Newton and comprises of six house groups over three floors.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

In each house group, there are en-suite bedrooms, a bathroom with specialised bathing facilities, a comfortably furnished sitting area where residents can relax and chat with family and friends, a kitchenette and dining area, and each house group has a dedicated care staff team.

On the ground floor, there is a coffee bar, lounge and dining room with patio doors leading out to the garden. The ground floor also accommodates the hairdressing salon, sun therapy room and a cinema.

The first floor has been designed to support residents with dementia. Specialist features have been integrated to assist residents with memory loss to orientate themselves, whilst enabling them to retain their independence in a secure and welcoming environment. Many bedrooms overlook the gardens or the surrounding countryside. There is also a potting shed with a secure roof terrace and a quiet lounge on this floor.

Newstone House has provided consistently high-quality care for my wife over the last two years. Both her physical and mental health have improved significantly during that time, leading to an obvious increase in happiness and reduction in anxiety, even as the illness continues to progress.
Prior to
the Covid lockdown interventions, I visited on most days and enjoyed the atmosphere, the various activities organised and the varied facilities available within the home. The overall achievement by the staff in creating a very liveable environment is the critical component in my wife's well being.
During the pandemic, the home has managed to keep good communication between residents and family with video calls and more recently with carefully organised safe visits. These have demonstrated to us as a family that the home has managed to continue the high quality of care in all aspects through what must be a very difficult time.

I have been impressed with the atmosphere of work and care, every time I visit the home. The staff make sure the comfort and wellbeing of the residents are paramount and always show respect regarding their requirements, condition and in communication about issues and their concerns. Staff are all very
positive and personal in their understanding of residents and keen to understand if the home and staff are fulfilling requirements to a high standard.
During this Covid-19 epidemic, they have taken the risks and made the commitment to carry on in the duties and roles in order to make sure all the residents are safe and cared for - we cannot thank them enough. A key factor is the Newstone leadership team who set the standards and keep the discipline of task and quality of the care process, which reassures and ensures everyone, contractors, staff and residents, safe.
This sacrifice should be recognised/rewarded directly by the senior team now, and not forgotten when Covid-19 crisis is past.

Throughout the three years, my mother has been cared for at Newstone, I have only had praise for the kindness, cleanliness and professionalism all staff have shown towards Mum. Every time I visit I see a smiling face, but if there has been a health problem with Mum I immediately have a phone call. Dementia
is a terrible disease but staff at Newstone somehow, I don’t know how, make light work of it. This is undoubtably down to training and the professionalism of all those involved, from cleaning staff to the manager. Green and Red shirts make my mum feel dignified and for that I will always be grateful. My thanks as ever for caring.
