Newstone House is located in the ancient market town of Sturminster Newton and comprises of six house groups over three floors.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

In each house group, there are en-suite bedrooms, a bathroom with specialised bathing facilities, a comfortably furnished sitting area where residents can relax and chat with family and friends, a kitchenette and dining area, and each house group has a dedicated care staff team.

On the ground floor, there is a coffee bar, lounge and dining room with patio doors leading out to the garden. The ground floor also accommodates the hairdressing salon, sun therapy room and a cinema.

The first floor has been designed to support residents with dementia. Specialist features have been integrated to assist residents with memory loss to orientate themselves, whilst enabling them to retain their independence in a secure and welcoming environment. Many bedrooms overlook the gardens or the surrounding countryside. There is also a potting shed with a secure roof terrace and a quiet lounge on this floor.

Our friend was cared for in this nursing home and we have been very pleased with all the care and attention he received from all the staff at all levels. My husband and I were always made so very welcome as regular visitors.

My sister was at Newstone House for 3 years. The care that she received was gold standard from start to finish. I cannot fault the staff. The kindness to me and my sister has been overwhelming. The rest of her stay my sister was bed bound. Never at any time did she have pressure sores. I never had a
single thing to complain about. I just don't know how to thank them.

My father has been a resident since 2012 and has very much enjoyed the cheerful and helpful nature of the Home. He loves going out on minibus trips, but equally enjoys activities indoors such as art, gardening club and flower arranging for the dining room. There is always a choice of activities and
residents are also welcome to stay in their well-equipped and beautifully furnished rooms if they so wish.

My father has just enjoyed his fourth visit to the home for short term respite care and, as on previous occasions, has been very happy with his stay. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly, both to residents/service users and to family members and the facilities and service are superb.

I have been an 'official' visitor almost since the home opened. It is warm, welcoming and comfortable. I have found the staff without exception kind, caring and happy. It makes such a difference to see a smiling face. I go when I can to chat and help. I have been instrumental in getting three people
to come to Newstone. The food is good and varied. The house is continually trying to keep the people interested in what is going on. the events put on are quite spectacular.

Since February 2012, my mother has been cared for at Newstone House, respite and as a resident. In that time my mother has received excellent care and understanding from the whole team. Although her care needs can sometimes be challenging, I always have faith in the knowledge and understanding her care,
safety and wellbeing are always first ,help is given in her own interest to feel comfortable happy and settled. Newstone House has become our home to visit mum, we feel the warm friendly welcome with each visit, as a family everyone cares like extended family members. Thank you to the team at Newstone House.

All the staff are caring and considerate. The meals are well prepared with daily choices. The homes cleanliness is beyond reproach. The residents room whilst small is adequate, airy and clean with a view over the south facing gardens.

The resources are remarkable and the best that I have seen in the UK. The staff are friendly and caring even with difficult residents. The surroundings are clean, bright and welcoming. The overall impression is very good and if the occasion should arrive I would highly recommend Newstones.

What a right royal party it was. Newstone House were hosts to an open day to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday and wow what a right royal party it was, attended extremely well by family friends and visitors. On arrival we were all met with a glass of bubbly and spent time chatting and looking at all
the wonderful decorations made by residents and staff. That was followed by a delicious cream tea and fantastic live entertainment by the Land Girls. Congratulations to all the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to give us all an afternoon to remember. On behalf of everyone who attended I would like to thank you all. Roll on the next party.

I have had a close friend in Newstone House since November 2015. He is very restricted on his movement and is therefore in need of nursing care. All of the nursing staff and carers that I have come into contact with have been excellent and genuinely caring of my colleague.
The home is very efficiently
run – has great facilities for residents. Food - many of the residents eat in an extremely comfortable and well appointed dinning room. As is the case with my friend some residents are unable to get dinning room and they receive their food to their rooms. The menu is varied, well prepared and (although I have not dined there) looks very appetising. There is a pretty day room, cinema room, residents lounge. There is also a comfortable visitors lounge.


There is a team of staff that run entertainment and trips for residents and there are frequent guest- entertainers that come into the home.
I’m thinking of spending my next vacation there!
