It's hard to leave a review as we were unable to view the home due to Covid. Visiting has just stared again and room is lovely. Met a couple of staff and they were happy to meet us too.

I have very little reason for any negative remarks during the one month stay of my mother. Everything was of a high standard and mostly met what I had led my mother to expect during her stay. However, in the first week, her new dressing gown was lost and not found, even though all her clothes were named. She does not like most dairy products and I requested her tea to be black but still, milk was added. She found it very difficult to understand many of your employees.

During my relative's time in the home, she has been cared for, nursed and generally been extremely well looked after. Both the carers and nursing staff look after my relative with care, consideration and the utmost respect. I cannot praise them enough. My relative is in pain continuously and whilst moving her to wash, change dressings or pads the staff are careful to try and minimise any unnecessary movement to help alleviate any pain.

Wow, that is really lovely to hear, thank you.

When visiting the home I was met by a lovely lady on reception, she was very helpful and accommodating. I was then met by two other carers who sat with me when visiting my dad, again very kind staff. We had a lovely cake made by the home for Dad's birthday which made the day, especially for my dad.

My father has been a resident of Hengist Field Care Centre for over a year. He has been looked after extremely well and has told me that he loves living at Hengist. On a personal note, we feel that the staff are very approachable and nothing is too much trouble, they are kind, caring and always ready to provide advise and comfort at times of need. We feel as a family very lucky to have been able to get my father a place there.

Our Dad passed away in October at Hengist Field and couldn't have asked for better for him. He had been in another home in Sittingbourne where he had first-class care so we were concerned when he was moved. We didn't need to worry as he couldn't have been better looked after. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that he was treated with compassion and dignity. We can't thank everyone enough for taking such good care of Dad and would highly recommend Hengist Field.

The premises are always clean. The staff are friendly and respectful to my mother in what must be a difficult job knowing how stubborn she could be. The only reason for my uncertainty over the recommend question is that although I have no complaints, I also have nothing to compare it to.

The care shown by the staff is excellent. Professional care with genuine warmth. This is excellent from the moment you step into the foyer from the receptionist to the cleaners, everyone is so professional.
This is all to the benefit of my wife who feels happy and responds well to their care should also mention the food is excellent.
A difficult time made easier by a strong team.

Thank you from the family.

During the last month, there have been lots of temporary staff i.e agency carers there are some who are regulars but, some come and go for a day at a time. Surely continuity is better for the residents as they prefer familiar faces. The regular staff are all very dedicated and try their very best to help all of the resident using a lot of patients.

"Hello, I’m the Manager of Hengist Field Care Home in Sittingbourne. I joined the Nellsar family as Manager here at the Home in November 2018, bringing with me 34 years' Nursing experience from working in a variety of UK and overseas care settings. Our wonderful team here provide high-quality care while ensuring that our residents enjoy all aspects of life within our Home.

Hengist Field Care Home was opened in 2011 and the design fits in beautifully with the surrounding Kent countryside of Oast Houses and orchards. We have first-class facilities here for our residents to enjoy and are developing many new and exciting ideas and initiatives to enhance daily life within the Home. Our gardens and the surrounding area are stunning and these include a spectacular courtyard, sensory garden and an area where residents enjoy growing soft fruits in the summer.

On warm sunny days lunch is often served in the gardens and families are welcome to relax with loved ones and enjoy quality time together. We pride ourselves in promoting a caring, family-orientated atmosphere, where we extend our support to friends and families of our residents.

We have a Friends of Hengist Support Group to support relatives who find it helpful to share their experiences with others in similar circumstances and the desire to learn more about the illness or condition that affects their relative. We also hold Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends Information Sessions. These are very informal and are designed to give people a greater awareness and understanding of how Dementia may change their loved ones.

We like to make each day meaningful for residents of our Home. Our Activities team are always planning something different. Every week we have a range of organised activities, which may include; exercise classes, musical mornings, coffee mornings, food tasting, arts and crafts or musical therapy.

Our Well-Being Team are on hand to deliver one to one relaxing sessions which may be in the form of a massage, or aromatherapy which has wonderful benefits to the holistic health of residents. Our Cinema room plays a film of the day which runs twice a day every day – so our residents can enjoy the nostalgia of popcorn and an old movie. In the summer, we have BBQs every month, with live music – an opportunity for residents, relatives, friends and staff to get together and enjoy each other’s company.

A daily Lunch Club also allows residents living in different units within the Home to meet up, enjoy a meal and spend some time together in one of our tastefully decorated dining rooms. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who wishes to join us when we participate in charity events including Alzheimer’s Society Cup Cake Days and The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning organised by Macmillan Cancer Support.

We host relatives and residents meetings at which discussions are held about how families can become more involved and how we, as a Care Home, can continue to improve upon all aspects of our care and services provided at the Home. We implement any suggested new activities, or ideas, or menu suggestions, and then we meet again to discuss how well these were received."
