Excellent, my mum has settled in very well during her respite stay, it is very reassuring to know that she is safe and well looked after and the family will not hesitate to use the home again for respite.

Staff - courteous, kind and efficient.
The team leader is exceptional; always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that my father has all he needs - from chasing up meds and appointments to supervising the labelling of his clothes.
The place itself is very clean and comfortable and my 91-year-old
father is very happy with Acacia Mews in every respect.

When my father asked me what are you writing, I told him - a review of the care you receive here.
He said "I hope you tell them it's first class!"
Well - it certainly is - without a doubt.
In every respect, I have received nothing but courteous and first-class attention and respect - so I know that
you are giving my father the same.
I have seen such an improvement in my father's mental and physical well-being in the short time he has been with you.

My dad has been at Acacia Mews Care Home for approx 3 weeks and I have visited him 6 times and have been impressed with everything. On my first initial visit before my dad came here, I was concerned that piped music (rock music) was playing. I am pleased this has not occurred on later visits as my dad
only listens to classic FM quietly in his room.
Reply from Deby O'Hare, Manager at Acacia Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to leave a review for Acacia Mews. We take on board your comments about the piped music, our residents have a variety of tastes in music and we try to accommodate them all in turn.

All staff very pleasant and friendly to visitors/relatives and attentive to residents.

My mother and her husband had their first respite in a care home here in February 2024. Everything was explained very clearly to them they settled in quickly with the support of lively excellent staff care, and they had the freedom to spend time together and apart in a way that worked for them. As relatives,
we felt well-informed and supported by the staff team and we found it to have improved our parent's wellbeing.

I would rate the Acacia Mews between good and excellent. At times my mother feels that some of the carriers lack patience but she suspects that they are tired after a long day's shift. Overall I am very happy with the care that my mother receives although she has found it difficult to adjust to being
in a care home and the attendant lack of independence that this entails.
Reply from Deby O'Hare, Manager at Acacia Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your wonderful 5 star review. Your Mother has settled well and is gaining some of her independence back which is helping her adjust. Your feedback will be passed on the the care team.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.789)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.789) out of 10 for Acacia Mews Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 91 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 91 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.789 for Acacia Mews Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (861 Excellents x 5) + (214 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 1082 Ratings = 4.789
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Mews Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 91 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 91 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
