My name is Bella, short for Izabela, and I am Polish. I have worked for Avery since 2014 and I am the Deputy Manager at Acacia Mews. My first role was as a hostess and care assistant. I was promoted to the senior care assistant role in December 2014 and then became a team leader in October 2015. I was promoted to deputy manager in February 2021.
I have a level 3 diploma in health and social care and the equivalent of a BSc (Hons) degree in psychology and social rehabilitation.
I really enjoy my work and can confirm we are all one big family at Avery.
My philosophy is simple, live life to the fullest and I would like everyone to do that
My name is Ana and I am 38yrs old.
I came to the UK from Romania in 2014 with my husband to build a new life.
In 2016, after many applications to different care homes, without success, Acacia Mews gave me a chance and I started to work as a Care Assistant on the night shift. With my ambition and respect for the role I was in, I was supported by Avery to complete my NVQ 2 in health and social care. In 2018 I was promoted to Senior Carer. In 2020 I enrolled at Bedfordshire University and started my level 5 in Health and Social Care.
In 2022 I changed to day shifts after I was promoted to Team Leader.
I am very dedicated to the job that I do, I am empathetic, and patient and enjoy working as part of a team.
My name is Robbie and I am the Head Chef at Acacia Mews.
I first started working here in 2014 as a Kitchen Assistant. I worked my way up to a trainee Chef and achieved levels 1 and 2 in Hospitality and Catering. I left Acacia Mews in 2017 to gain more experience in different environments and I returned as Head Chef in 2022. I love the fact that I can be more creative here, and I missed the interaction with the residents.
I have 2 young Sons that keep me busy outside of work but I still find time to think about and practice new recipes. I think it is really important to get feedback from the people that live at Acacia Mews to ensure I can deliver the meals that they enjoy.
My name is Aleksandra Tomczak but I like to be known as Aleks.
I am the Head Housekeeper at Acacia Mews. I started working here in 2013 as a Housekeeper before being promoted to Head Housekeeper in 2017.
I moved to the UK from Poland in 2008. I live with my Husband and our British Blue cat called Mr Wilson. I have one Son who now lives in Chicago, USA.
Interaction with the residents is a rewarding part of my role as well as working in a great team.
My name is Corrinne Parish and I am the Wellbeing Coordinator for Acacia Mews.
I have worked at Acacia Mews for 7 years.
I live with my Husband and have 3 children, 2 grandsons and a granddog.
My job role is to facilitate and deliver activities and events for the residents in the home. No day is ever the same whether it be organising resident days out, arts and crafts sessions, singalongs or having a quiet one-to-one conversation with an individual resident.
I love my job because it is so rewarding to see the residents' smiles and appreciation for what the well-being team do for them.
Hi, I am Urszula but I like to be called Ula. I am the Home Administrator at Acacia Mews.
I started working at Acacia Mews in 2014 as a Hostess and really enjoyed this role however after two years I applied to work in reception and become a Customer Services Advisor. I was successful and really enjoyed this position, meeting families, and residents and interacting with people really suits my personality.
I then had the opportunity to learn the role of Administrator and have been in this role for the past 5 years.
In my time outside of work, and apart from time with my family, I help out at Herts Phoenix Athletic Club and enjoy going for a run around Stanborough Lakes with my daughters and partner.
