My husband was at Peaker Park for the last 9 months of his life. He was well looked after, always treated with dignity and respect. The staff are friendly and became like family to us both. Nowhere is perfect and nothing compares to your own home but this was as near as we could get. The staff are key
to the heart of this care home and they made a very difficult time easier.

The care my mum received was brilliant, she was treated with dignity and kindness. All staff at Peaker Park do an excellent job, if there was a problem the staff sorted it straight away.

Dad was brilliantly cared for here during the last 6 months. His stroke left him with little speech and reduced understanding but the staff showed much patience with him. He seemed very happy and contented. From our observations, his room and clothes were always clean. His meals were served in lovely
surroundings but he could choose to eat in his room if he wanted to. Although he felt unable to join in with activities available, the staff did try to encourage him. Dad has now moved to a care home closer to me but I will always be grateful for the care he received at Peaker Park.

My wife has been a resident at Peaker Park Care Village for 6 months or so now.
Unfortunately she has early onset Alzheimer’s disease and although still mobile requires a lot of assistance with her daily needs.
From the start the staff on the Dingley unit at Peaker Park Care Village have always
been very friendly and caring.
Recently my wife had a fall whilst being showered.
This might not be seen as a positive thing to bring up in a review.
However the genuine concern and care that the staff showed at the time of the incident was heart-warming.
The staff also showed great professionalism in the way they reviewed the incident and came up with corrective actions to help reduce the possibility of such an accident occurring again.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Peaker Park Care Village to anybody who may be searching for a caring establishment for their loved ones.

Just like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Peaker Park for the love and compassion that they showed to my Grandad in his final months. He was made more welcome and loved by the staff than we could have ever of hoped for.
Although this is a very sad time for the family, it has been made so
much easier with the support of Peaker.
All the staff are a massive credit to Peaker Park Care Home.

Very good room and building fabric, clean, tidy and well planned. Efficient and friendly staff and most helpful. Food and beverage good, nicely presented and good dining room layout. Overall, if I were in need of residential care, I would have no hesitation in staying here.

Not having dealt with the care system before Peaker Park Team were so helpful in guiding me through the system and making my mother feel confident and safe in her new surroundings. The care is excellent with regular contact from staff on any issues. Excellent facilities rooms and food.

My mother has privacy in her room but has regular checks to make sure she is alright. There are daily activities for her to attend if she wants to. I have attended a few coffee evenings held on a monthly basis, called the Dementia Journey, covering unravelling the mystery, end of life care, nutrition
and a dementia virtual tour. All of these events have been very helpful and supportive for me.

Since arriving here in August 2017, we have had a superb experience in this care home. For my father-in-law, it has been home from home. Treatment in the Dementia unit is excellent. Staff always going above and beyond. Excellent communication with residents and also to family members. My father-in-law
could not be in a better place.

My mum has been a resident in the dementia unit of Peaker Park for 2 and a half years. The care mum has received is fantastic and the carers are very, very helpful and kind towards mum. So my two brothers and sister are very happy with the care mum gets. Dementia is not easy to deal with!

From the warm welcome on arrival in the dark on a cold winters night until the day of leaving. The staff have excelled in the care and attention they have given my friend as she convalesced from an illness. Thye built her confidence in her abilities back up and now she is living independently at home
once again. She was scared of going into a "home" but now she says she may return in the future for a short rest and this is so comforting to the extended family. Thank you so much.

Resident: my mother aged 96, resident for 4+years. 3 years decreasingly self-caring on residential unit. 14 months bed bound on dementia unit requiring a hoist to move and all personal care including feeding, positioning, washing and changing. Self-funding until 3 weeks ago.

Accommodation: Purpose

built accommodation with en-suite wet-room and television supplied and own telephone. Modern, spacious, light, clean and well-maintained.

Staff: Polite, cheerful, attentive and establish excellent rapport with client and family. Maintain good communication. Care is prompt and regular. Despite needing help with moving and feeding, weight is maintained and there has never been a problem with pressure areas.

Fees: Research in Birmingham, Darlington and Market Harborough. Fees in the middle group and I believe good value by comparison.

Tick Boxes: Inadequate. Nothing is excellent with no room for improvement but everything is better than good. I would mark “Very Good” throughout.

Mother was at the home since August 2017. The staff showed great empathy, especially towards the end. Mother enjoyed the food and we thought it was kept very clean.
I'm sure a different selection of music would be a benefit.

From the moment we had dealings with the staff of the home to the final minutes of my father's care and needs, the home was fantastically supportive. A helpful, sensitive and caring approach to the whole family. They couldn't do enough to help. They were excellent in nursing him through his final hours
of life I would have struggled to cope without their help.

I was transferred to Peaker Park from hospital for extra physiotherapy so that I could use stairs following a fracture on September 22nd. I was very privileged to be in the NHS Reablement Unit in Fiddlers Court for four weeks. The personal care, encouragement, food, therapy and relaxed atmosphere enabled
me to recover well. I particularly appreciated the service of the Team Leaders of the Horne Court staff and the weekly visit from the nurse from the local surgery. I wish I had had it all explained to me though, at the beginning of my stay, and better prepared for it. The explanatory leaflet arrived as I was leaving Peaker Park!

My mother has been dumped by this nursing home with an alleged stroke.. which frankly is in question. My family are most unhappy and have been put through much distress by what we suspect is their excuse to get rid of her. They have refused to readmit my mother from a hospital infirmary for recovery.
Whilst my mother was here we were pleased with the facilities and level of care until this happened two days ago. I am making an official complaint to the authorities.

My father-in-law is currently staying here after a fall and breaking his hip. He was unable to go home and thankfully they had a room here. All the staff are so helpful and friendly, I have only witnessed an excellent level of care. They encourage the residents to socialise and although no doubt a stressful
job, they all seem very upbeat and positive. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.500)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.500) out of 10 for Peaker Park Care Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.734 for Peaker Park Care Village is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 256 Ratings = 4.734
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.766 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Peaker Park Care Village is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 137 registered maximum number of service users is 27.4. 21 Positive Reviews ÷ 27.4 = 0.766
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
