It was with reluctance that I left Hill House after a stay of 4 months. I arrived there as a respite patient which became long term for necessity and when it was established this was the case I sought care nearer to close family 35 miles distant.

I was indeed sorry to take leave of the dedicated carers and nursing staff together with so many other members of the administrative team including the ever-obliging catering and housekeeping staff and activities leaders.

I entered Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home during the first two weeks of November for respite care after a major operation. I was treated with the utmost kindness and care by all the staff. The accommodation is of an excellent standard, spotlessly clean and well maintained. Food was provided in my room or in the dining room as I desired, and I was able to choose alternatives to the menu if there was something I did not want. I needed very little nursing care other than to clean up my operation wound which was efficiently dealt with. Activities are well run and there is always something to keep the residents busy if they so desire. Overall I can not rate this home more highly.

Since Mum has moved to Hill House Nursing and Dementia she seems more like her old self again. Each time I visit she is happy and tells me about the various activities that she has enjoyed over the past week. She is very complimentary about all the staff saying that they are very kind and can't do enough for her. She enjoys the good food too and I am confident that she is safe and well looked after. I find all the staff very professional to deal with and I am also impressed with their Covid-19 precautions which they take very seriously.

My sister was very well looked after by an extremely caring and committed staff for a period of approximately ten weeks. The premises are well maintained, facilities well kept and maintained in a clean condition, lounge, dining and communal areas are furnished to a good clean standard and external garden well maintained for the enjoyment and well being of residents.

Bedrooms are well furnished with individual bathroom facilities and the whole home well laid out. The quality of the food is also very good.

My sister and I did some research into care providers and homes 18 months ago, we decided that Hill House Nursing and Dementia Home was outstanding and an excellent place for Mum to spend her twilight years. Unfortunately, things changed quickly for us, and we needed somewhere for Mum to spend her last days. Hill House pulled out all the stops and found her a fantastic room, Covid rules were followed we felt safe, the staff were kind, caring professional and helpful. I cannot express our gratitude enough, the place, the staff and the atmosphere here are fantastic. Thank you all so much for helping us when we needed it most.

My nan suffers from dementia and after having a stroke moved to Hill House. She receives excellent care and the staff are all so kind to her. The daily activities keep Nan entertained and her brain working. She always comments on the lovely meals she has had. I would highly recommend Hill House for it’s amazing standard of care.

I was very impressed by the care, consideration and respect shown to me and my mum during Mum's short stay at this nursing home. It was very important to me and my family that Mum's last days were comfortable and dignified, this nursing home enabled this and even during these challenging times of Covid we were able to visit safely. I was asked if I was okay for staff to pray with and for her as Mum and I are Christians, I found this extremely comforting as I'm sure did Mum. My wishes to be with her when she died and to help prepare her body were carried out and I did not feel rushed or anxious. I would like to thank the staff from the bottom of my heart.

The fracture of a hip in November started a downward spiral for our mother. Despite her determination to remain at home, she finally agreed she would be safer in a nursing home and would welcome contact with other people.
My sister and I feel very fortunate to have found Hill House, where the whole team have been very professional, welcoming and understanding. It hasn't been the easiest of times settling someone into a new environment amid Covid rules, but the team have been sensitive of everyone's needs and we have had regular meetings to discuss her care.
We feel confident and reassured that she is receiving excellent care in a safe environment. We have been very impressed with the activities programme, even though we know that our mother is probably not yet interested. Everyone has greeted us with a smile and has ensured that requests for visits have been met.

We look forward to when we can visit in her room, have a meal with her and see at first hand the facilities of the home.

My Nan is a resident at Hill House and it is wonderful I can visit her inside the home as all the residents and all the staff have been vaccinated. It’s lovely to be able to hold her hand once again and to be able to see what is going on inside the home. There are so many activities going on all the time and my Nan loves it-especially the dominoes, cookery club and the quizzes. My Nan is very well cared for and she feels that Hill House is her home now.

My wife's increasing dementia and urinary problems meant care at home was no longer possible. The home care has been very good - considering the virus situation and the limitations placed on them. The management has reacted very positively to the situation - acquiring 'the pod' etc and getting staff vaccinated promptly.

Our mother has been at Hill House for about 4-years. It's the best care week I could have wished for as they cover dementia. The safety aspects over this year have been excellent. But we are sad not to be able to go in.

My brother in law has been in Hill House for six years and we could not wish for a more caring home. So when I became unable to care for my husband, Hill House was the obvious choice. Sadly he recently passed away and the care he was given at the end of his life was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the dedicated staff. When I can no longer care for myself, I won't hesitate to let them care for me.

Following a period of illness and subsequent stay in hospital, my father was unable to return home and so was transferred to Hill House where he is now a resident.
My family feel extremely fortunate that a space was available to him, as, having been a visitor to the Day Centre in recent years, we know the residence well and know what a wonderful place it is.
The facilities are superb but it is the attitude and dedication of the whole team of staff which makes it so special. Everyone is so caring and committed to giving the residents the best possible quality of life, which is especially comforting when your loved one is suffering from dementia. We feel totally confident and reassured that Dad is receiving the best possible care and really couldn't ask for anything more.

Thank you to the whole team for all your hard work!

My grandfather has been a resident at Hill House for over 2.5 years. Before covid the home was fantastic, it always made me feel welcome and I enjoyed regularly visiting my grandfather. Now during covid, everyone at the home has kept me in contact with him through Skype, Zoom calls and regular updates via email and have made a real effort with allowing safe visiting via gazebo visits with heaters. It's really reassuring to know my grandfather is happy and cared for at Hill House.

I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful team of staff at Hill House. My dad has received the highest level of care since becoming a resident at the beginning of November this year. Not only is the care exceptional but the whole ethos within the home in providing such care with genuine kindness, dignity, warmth and compassion is constant. The home is beautifully maintained both inside and out and feels homely, cosy and safe which is so important to us as a family. Most of all my dad is very settled and happy there which is the best feeling for all the family. Thank you so much to everyone that works so hard at Hill House.

My mum had suffered from dementia which was compounded by a stroke. We moved her to Hill House where she was placed in the Separate Specialist Dementia Care Unit, otherwise known as Garden View. The staff to resident ratio is good but most importantly they are lovely people and very attentive. She felt at home there and when we visited we felt at home too. The staff are always welcoming and it's like a small community. The activities team have a theme each week with plenty of resident participation if that's what they like. We were sent regular photos from the activities team showing her enjoying herself in many activities.
