9.7 Park View Care Home has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.661)

The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Park View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 43 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Park View Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.661 for Park View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (356 Excellents x 5) + (134 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 508 Ratings = 4.661

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12.2 positive Reviews (61 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 26 Reviews ÷ 12.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Mum has now been resident at Park View Care Home for a year. It was a very difficult time for mum, dad, my brother, sister and I when we realised we could no longer care for mum at home. The staff at Park View were kind, caring and supported all of us through this difficult transition. We were encouraged to surround mum with her own belonging, memories from home, photographs etc. Dad visits daily and is welcomed and supported as well as mum.
Park View has an excellent activity programme, mum has vascular dementia and reminiscence and activities to encourage physical and mental well being are essential.
The care provided is individualised and the carers are responsive to mums needs, the surroundings are of a very high standard, clean and homely.
The food is of a very high standard and on several occasions, we have held family celebrations at the home.
I am happy to recommend Park View and when I discussed this review with mum she too is happy to recommend Park View to other people.

My mother was one of the first residents when the home opened as new. She received excellent care during the last five years and joined in the many activities. All the staff treated her like family. Sadly, today we held the wake in the care home and many of the staff waved her off to the crematorium. The last days of her life were filled with constant visits from the caring staff. I can't praise them enough. First class care.

I recently came home from the United States with my family for a vacation and this was our first time seeing Park View. My dad is a resident in the dementia unit and I cannot praise these people enough for the care he gets. The staff are wonderful not only with him but the whole family, the food looked and smelled delicious and generous portion sizes as well as a good variety to choose from. The place was lovely and clean and every staff member really made me feel confident that Dad was well taken care of.

My mother had a very enjoyable two week stay (respite for my father). She had previously been totally resistant to going into a 'home' but has now said she would happily return to Park View if necessary in the future.
The environment created by the very friendly staff is excellent.

My mother has been living in Park View for two years and has settled very well. The management and all staff are very polite, caring and have built up a very good relationship with mum and our family. There is a very good choice of well-cooked meals and individuals have their medical needs addressed daily. Realising that mum loves cooking and knitting, she now bakes during activity sessions, knits items for charity and now has an interest in gardening. As a family, we see that she is now a confident member of the Park View community and helps others to settle in when they arrive. We cannot express enough our thanks to all Park View staff and would highly recommend this clean, happy and caring home to all.

My father has only been at the care home a short time but enjoys the activities that are put on each day. Today, the care home had put on a lovely garden party for the residents and their families. Seeing my dad enjoy himself so much is a real tonic and credit to all the staff for laying on such a lovely day, The staff are all very caring and I am really happy that my dad is being so well looked after. Thank you so much.

So good to see all staff interacting with residents i.e. including handyperson, cleaning staff, food menu providers and sensitive to my mother's health, e.g. chest infection, so no spray cleaning products used in the bedroom. Non-feather duvet sourced.

I like that staff do 'paperwork' with residents around - not shut away in an office.

Staff turnover reasonably stable - important.

Some areas of communication and continuity weak, but overall the best nursing home I've experienced (my deceased father stayed in four).
I don't dread visits.

My Mother-in-law has settled in very well. The staff are very friendly, helpful and have allowed her to take part in lots of activities and have encouraged her to keep up with the hobbies that she has always enjoyed such as knitting, assisted cooking and singing. There was a wonderful programme of activities leading up to Christmas such as the Christmas bazaar, carol singing, visits from the local scouts, culminating with the 'Park View's got talent' final. Everyone is very caring.

My husband was admitted to Park View urgently on 28th December 2016 due to me being ill. However, it was for two weeks respite but as I was still poorly we had to extend for two more weeks. Now we have decided he will have to remain as I cannot cope due to his Alzheimers deterioration. The care has been outstanding. Any problems and we mention it to a member of staff and more often than not it is dealt with. Congratulations to the administrative staff.

I am here, short-term, for respite care after a fall with subsequent operation and time in hopsital. I have to wear a leg brace for up to six weeks, restricting knee-joint movement but with some mobility. Park View is a well appointed, bright, spacious house with good facilities. All staff are cheerful, attentive, patient, friendly and compassionate despite the challenges they face. Unlike some fellow residents, I have mobility with a walking frame and attend to all personal care apart from showering and lower body dressing and undressing. The help I ask for is provided well and efficiently. My room is comfortable and large enough for a short term stay. Catering is excellent with variety. Food well prepared, appetising, nourishing and sufficient.
Little contact with management re: daily routines etc. I feel settled here and have good rapport with all staff and residents alike and enjoy their company.

It was very difficult having to place my father in nursing care. However, my family and I are becoming used to not having him at home as we could not be happier with the care he is receiving. He is very settled and the staff, each and every one of them, make him feel happy and well looked after. They are each so caring and genuinely concerned for my father's care. The home is lovely, the residents are lovely. We all feel relaxed and happy with the level of care he is receiving.

I am disabled from long-term effects from Polio and can no longer walk. I am 82 years of age and contracted Polio when I was 18. The first two days at Park View Care Home were traumatic because of the unavailability of a stand-up hoist. I was moved from bed to armchair and vice versa by means of a conventional sling which was both tiring and uncomfortable. This meant that I was unable to get access to either the toilet or a commode. Mainly because the commode was too narrow for me to use it. The situation did not improve until my wife brought my own body belt from home so that I could then benefit by using the stand-up hoist to access the bathroom. My own carers at home also use a particular brand device to move me from bed to armchair but none seemed to be available at "Park View". Despite my advance request for 2 metal bed frames (one each side of the bed,) only one was available, which made it difficult to turn over or adjust my sleeping or sitting position easily. The carers were friendly, helpful and supportive but because of the poor organisation by the time my assisted washing and dressing were complete, my cooked breakfast was often either cold or tepid. Tea and suppers were also tepid on occasion. Finally, I very much appreciated the kindness of two of the carers who gave me a bath on my last day there (a far easy task for them!)

Carol Rhnd, Home Manager at Park View Care Home responded to this review on 16 Nov 2016:

Thank you for your review of Park View Care Home. We welcome all feedback and always use this to improve the quality of the home and service we provide. I apologise that you felt the equipment we had was not suitable for you to use. From the review, I understand the equipment was not available at the time so we have now invested in some additional equipment to prevent this reoccurring. We record all the temperatures of the foods we serve which were all correct but in light of your comments I have asked our Head Chef to monitor our room service to ensure we maintain our high standards of meal service at all times.
I am pleased you found our staff and the facilities excellent as we always strive to provide high-quality care in an excellent environment.

My father was a resident for 4 months and receives the highest level of care whilst there. He was treated with dignity and respect and staff were very patient at all times. During the time leading up to his death, the staff communicated with us at all times so that we were aware of what was happening. I have the highest opinion of the care given by the staff. Excellent!

Mum was only a resident for three months before she sadly passed away, but during that time she received excellent care from all the staff. Her room was very comfortable and clean. the food was exceptional, the facilities for socialising were excellent and the nursing/care staff were patient, kind, caring and supportive not only to mum but also to me. The general ambience of this home is excellent more like a five-star hotel! I could not have asked for a better environment for mum during her last days "Highly recommended " does not seem sufficient praise! Thank you.

The standard of care as we see it appears to be first class. All the staff in whatever capacity are very caring and helpful. There is a good variety of food and the home is always clean and fresh. We would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone in need of care. The activities are also very good and varied giving residents some time to look forward to each week.

My father was a resident at Parkview for two years. During that time he received excellent care. His life was enhanced by the staff - all of them from the cleaning team to the nursing team. He was treated with respect, kindness and love. He was confined to his room but not lonely as the team popped in during the day to chat to him, read the paper, talk about football. He was in a safe, loving home and we are very grateful for their efforts.

I can only endorse my 98 year old mothers words about Park View "they are so caring and genuine". All staff are very friendly and speak to you whenever you visit. The medical team discuss matters and keep you informed.

The homes attention to detail is outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. Food is excellent and if it's not on the menu they will do their very best to provide it.

Many elude to service and customer first but few provide it, Park View however fully delivers on both I cannot speak highly enough of Park View.

My aunt feels safe, the staff are very friendly and caring. There is plenty of freshly home cooked food and very pleasant surroundings. The gardens are very well kept. The staff are very respectful and treat my aunt with dignity. Everywhere is very clean and clothes are laundered daily. I would recommend.

Our mother was admitted to Park View Care Home, Ipswich in a very weak state and in fact only survived another 5 weeks. However during that time, the care and support that she was given could not have been bettered. She was made very comfortable and received all the help and support that she needed. Likewise, this help and support was also extended to us, her family. The staff were also very good in listening to the family and dealing with our questions or concerns. We are very grateful that our mother was able to spend her last few weeks of life in which a lovely place.

Park View is always calm and welcoming. The staff always considerate, warm, approachable and very professional. The rooms, both private and public, are clean bright, well designed and well maintained. In every respect the overall standard of care, from nursing to catering is always excellent.

Father is well cared for, have had some issues over medication but these are largely sorted out. Have seen a fairly rapid deterioration but this has been dealt with very well (Parkinson's). We could not have done this without the help from Park View. Do feel that support from NHS or link to care homes needs to be a priority.

From the day of admittance until her decease my mother in law received a superb level of care. The staff were caring and compassionate without exception. They did their utmost to satisfy her needs be it comfort, dietary needs or physical and emotional welfare. The care home was most comfortable, well furnished and very welcoming to visitors. My wife and I were particularly impressed with the care, kindness and sensitivity shown towards us and my mother in law during her final days.

Mum has been a resident of Park View for 6 months and lives within a very caring and safe community; the staff are very attentive and you can see that they enjoy their work. Mum has built up a good relationship with them, and also made some good friends with the other residents. As a local family we are regular visitors to see Mum, and know she is receiving first class care. We are always warmly greeted by the staff and have developed a good three way dialogue (family, resident and staff) with them, by using a daily diary in her room, and talking with the staff during our visits.

After a short settling in period, mum started to take part in the various activities put on for the residents and families and really enjoys them. She also recently celebrated a birthday and had a lovely cake baked in-house and card presented to her. Just prior to her birthday we were able to book the small dining room and had a party for her.

Choosing a place for your mum to spend her remaining time is very daunting, with Park View we know we made the right decision.
