Overall Experience

Since moving to Park View, we have seen such positive changes in my grandad's physical and mental health. We are overwhelmed with the exceptional level of care he has received from every member of staff, and the kindness and compassion they have shown us as a family. Despite the testing times in which they are operating, Park View continues to be a warm and happy place to live, where all the staff have gone the extra mile to ensure that Grandad has settled well, and feels cared for and comfortable. The residents are clearly at the heart of everything the manager does, and all the kind, helpful and professional staff are a credit to the work she is doing in running the home. As a family we are constantly kept informed and involved in Grandad's care. The Wellbeing team have tailored activities to Grandad's interests, and given him companionship and reassurance - to see Grandad smiling and taking pleasure in singing and music again has brought so much joy! We can't thank everyone enough!

Our enquiry was met with a prompt reply with helpful information. We were supplied with Covid information that was very clear and easy to understand along with the current visiting rules. My wife was warmly received upon admission and left the family quite happily. The family were very impressed with the Myo App that the home use to keep the families informed. Within hours of admission, we had viewed photos of her settling in. With the lockdown restrictions, this brought a lot of reassurance.

Until the lockdown, I have visited my wife at Park View almost daily for over four years. During this period I have come to look upon the management and staff as my extended family and have always been treated as a friend rather than a visitor. I have two daughters who also visit regularly who feel the same way as I do. We are very grateful that our loved one is so well cared for and she is in a home where the well being of all the residents is a priority. It's that kind of place.

My Mother always looks well looked after, cared for genuinely by a wonderful team. In my opinion, you can see and read in people, whether they are just doing a job or really care. I personally feel very satisfied that my Mother is well looked after and that in turn, gives me great peace of mind. Ten out of ten.

Park View is a very well, very friendly care home. I was very reluctant to put my Mother in a care home. However, she is very happy there. She loves the carers and staff and said some of them have become like family, she has become very attached to them. On her 95th Birthday during the lockdown, they pulled out all the stops and gave her a fabulous birthday. She said she felt like the Queen, they treated her so well (as the family could not attend). Full marks to them all.

Trying to provide care at home for frail elderly parents during the pandemic was hard. Many different people were coming and going but my parents still felt horribly isolated. When the situation deteriorated further, I contacted Park View, who could not have been more helpful and supportive. I am very reassured about their procedures and my parents enjoy great food, good care and lots of stimulating activities. Staff have been very patient with all the questions that have arisen. Parents are doing better. it has certainly been a good move. It is very important to have people I can trust and who work with and support me as well.

My husband has had two visits to Park View. Both giving me a break. I have found all the staff that I have met to be incredibly caring and friendly but most of all efficient. He has enjoyed the activities that are held and all the company around him. He comes home very tidy and clean and happy. I shall be using Park View often until he needs to go in full time.

From the day my father moved into your home, he has been cared for extremely well. They made I'm welcome, have kept him well and he feels safe. I feel assured he is being looked after. The app keeps me up to date, and I regularly speak to the nursing staff. I highly recommend this home.

My husband was admitted to Park View at the beginning of the lockdown. He is suffering from dementia and I was not able to care for him at home. Unfortunately, I have not been able to visit him but the staff at the home always update me on his condition when I telephone and I have FaceTime calls 2 or 3 times per week. The staff are always helpful and friendly and nothing is too much bother.

After spending two weeks at Park View Care Home, I have been very happy. All the staff were marvellous - nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend Park View to anyone. My sincere thanks to the chef and his team. All the food was first-class and the presentation was also first-class. My thanks to all the staff and I'm sure on my return home, I shall miss being thoroughly spoilt. All my best wishes to you all.

Excellent care received by my Dad and Mum. All staff professional, caring and undertake their duties with empathy and good humour. Maybe the requirement for more staff to be on hand to ensure rapid response to resident call bells to avoid resident distress in personal care situations.

Reply from Carol Rhind, Manager at Park View Care Home

Thank you for your kind review, please be assured that we check the rotas and team on duty regularly to ensure we have lots of hands on deck and also carry out regular call bell audits to ensure the response times are excellent, so I will review these again now to double-check as absolutely no one should be kept waiting. After coming out of hospital my husband was at home for one month bedridden, not able to walk and confined to the bedroom. It was decided he needed 24 hour care and went to Park View on the 10th January where he was well looked after and can now walk with a frame and is still being well looked after.

Another reason he went to Park View was I could not cope being called five times some nights.

I am proud to say I commissioned The Cambridgeshire Care Home in 2016 and was the manager until 2019, having worked at First Care Homes since 2011. I returned in 2022.

I have worked in the social care sector as a registered manager in a home and regional capacity for over 25 years since leaving the NHS, where I was a ward sister.

I am a Registered Nurse and have a Degree in Gerontological Nursing, the Registered Managers Award and also Level 5 in management and leadership.

I love this home and want the staff to feel the same, as this then impacts our residents' experience and helps them feel at home right from day one
