I was admitted to this care home 3 years ago to recover after having a stroke. Since being here I have been the care I have received has been excellent, and staff have contributed immensely towards my recovery. The accommodation, is clean, tidy and in a good state of repair, and a large garden and
patios to enjoy when weather is good. Rooms are spacious, and with individual showers, beds are comfortable with regular changes of bedding.
Daily cleaning of rooms, and supply of towels and freshly washed clothes. Being from a catering background, the food is of a good standard, fresh fruit, tea, coffee freely available. Entertainment and various activities are provided and very enjoyable. On a personal level l would love a curry or Chinese food on occasions The staff are approachable and are very eager to assist in any way they can.

Thank you, for your wonderful words. We feel lucky to have you as part of our home and are so proud to see how far you've come on your recovery journey. Your appreciation means so much to all of us, and we'll definitely keep your curry and Chinese treat in mind - your preferences matter to us.

My wife suffers from dementia and has been at Seymour House for over 12 months. The facilities are very good. The home is really well run and all the staff are kind, caring, and considerate and deliver care to an exceptionally high standard. Thanks to all the staff my wife is very content and I can't
ask for anything more.
It is a happy home and very well-managed and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
Reply from Gabriela, Deputy Manager at Seymour House - Northwood

Dad spent 9 months at Seymour House following the death of our beloved Mum, sadly he then also passed away. I am compelled to say that the care and compassion given to Dad and us during such a difficult time was truly heart warming from both the management and the phenomenal care team. I have videos
on him dancing and having fun with the team, he was a picky eater at first but they soon had him eating up a storm. He was extremely well looked after and immaculate, as is the home. They looked after Dad's best interests and went beyond to fulfill his needs. I cannot praise the team at Seymour House enough, thank you again for all you did and in particular when Dad did pass, my Brother and I were privileged to be with him and were given the privacy needed at such a sad time but also shown the wonderful care and respect that Dad received. The focus of this home is about care, compassion and love as if their own family. Thank you.
Reply from Gabriela, Deputy Manager at Seymour House - Northwood

Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. They truly touched us and were so grateful for the trust you placed in us to care for your dad. It was an honour to be part of his journey, and we're so glad that he and your family felt the love and respect we always aim to provide. Well always remember the special moments we shared with him. Our thoughts are with you and your family, and we wish you comfort and peace during this time.

My Mum has recently spent time at Seymour House while waiting for a place in a nursing home. I can't praise the staff team highly enough, they are capable, friendly, and most importantly, always present to attend to the residents' needs and treat them with respect and dignity.

My mother spent the last couple of years of her life in Seymour House Northwood following a diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer's. The care she received throughout was excellent from both managers and the entire team and couldn't be faulted. All the carers were so welcoming and friendly when I visited,
along with my elderly and mobility-impaired father. In the last few weeks of her life, my mother was bedridden and therefore required much more intensive care, yet nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and they looked after her with care and compassion until she passed away.
I can fully recommend Seymour House Northwood.

I have already thanked the man in your admin office for all of his work and patience from when my Aunt was first admitted in May 2020.
However, a much bigger thanks is due to you and your wonderful team for how my Aunt has been treated since she arrived but especially of late when her condition dramatically
worsened before sadly passing away.
She was comfortable and in no real signs of distress and I have no doubt that you were able to greatly assist in that.
To have people with her when she passed is also of great comfort.
Whenever I spoke with her she would always say how happy she was with you and the photos of her when she went on one of your many organised outings clearly show this. My role in dealing with her care since May 2020 has been largely as her Attorney under LPA Powers but again Seymour House did whatever was possible to make this job a bit easier for me. Again many thanks for all you and Seymour House did for her - it is very much appreciated by the family.
Reply from Gabriela Niga, Deputy Manager at Seymour House - Northwood

Dear Alistair,
Thank you for your kind words and appreciation. We extend our deepest condolences for your loss. We are touched to hear that your Aunt felt happy and comfortable in our care and we are grateful for the opportunity to have been there for her.

My dad was a resident at Seymour House for about two years. He was treated with great kindness and gentleness during that time. The staff were very respectful, always using his title "Dr" even though he had dementia and was unaware. At first, he was able to enjoy the activities, as I could see by the
photos sent to me during the difficult tail end of Covid. He gradually deteriorated, needing to be hand-fed, but there was never any complaint from the staff, only concern about the best way to care for him. They were very prompt about seeking medical care for him and then keeping me updated as he declined.
Special mention to one lady who always made time to talk to me, in person or on the phone and was so very kind to me during my last few visits before his death.

Our mother was recently a resident at this excellent care home. The standards at Seymour House are of the highest quality. It was of great comfort to us knowing how well she was looked after. The staff are always friendly and showed the greatest care at all times. Hygiene is always of the
highest level.
There are many activities to engage their mental capacities, plus outings whenever possible. Entertainment is also provided on a regular basis. Catering is always varied, nutritious and appetizing.
To sum up, we would highly recommend Seymour House.

This is an outstanding care home with amazing staff. My mother has been a resident for over ten years, and they are family to us now. My mum is treated with dignity and respect with the highest level of care. It always smells lovely and fresh whenever you walk in, which is a sign of a good care home.
The staff go above and beyond, and I cannot rate this home highly enough. The residents are so well looked after, and this is definitely home-from-home. I know Mum is safe and loved, and that is incredibly important as to whom you can trust with a loved one's care.

My wife has been a resident at Seymour House since September 2022. The service she has received is first class. All the staff are caring and pleasant. The home is clean and inviting. I have spoken to several people who are interested in finding a place for their loved ones, and I have thoroughly recommended
it. I would not hesitate to name members of the staff for special praise, but in my opinion, they are all excellent.

My mum was a resident at Seymour House for six months following quick-onset dementia, and we were so pleased with the care she received. The team provided high-quality care, particularly given her additional and complex health needs and were/are on hand to answer any questions; they supported us hugely
with Mum's transition from living independently to full-time residential care. There was regular entertainment and activities that she could participate in that were enjoyable. Seymour House is well-maintained and clean, providing a comfortable home for all residents and visitors. We are so glad we found Seymour House; they treated our mum with care and respect and really helped to make her final few months comfortable.

I was only at Seymour House for five weeks, but I was made to feel welcome by everyone. All the residents were well cared for - hugs were given as appropriate, and residents were persuaded to do things they weren't keen on doing. It is somewhere I would be happy to stay again.

My dad has been a resident at Seymour House for most of 2021, in that time, we have as a family been very happy with the level of care he has received.
He is happy, settled and cared for. The staff are kind, approachable and always happy to help in any way. My dad looks well, clean, tidy and well-groomed.
My mother is very happy to see him looking so well. There are various activities for the residents to participate in, and we have been updated with photos during Covid.
We are pleased that he is so settled and content.

Great staff, very friendly and accommodating.
My father was very ill a couple of months back; it was at a point when his GP called me to say things need to be put in place for end of life. I made the decision for my dad to be cared for at the home rather than in a hospital. I consider the staff at
the home to be my dads second family. They cared for him, and he has recovered.

My mother has been a resident at Seymour House for the last 4-years, during all this time, they have been marvellous with their care for my mum, it has been a very hard year this last year, and they have dealt with it amazingly. My mum suffered from Alzheimer’s and was wholly dependant on the staff
for everything, I cannot fault their care. The home is always clean, and the residents also are well cared for.
Unfortunately, I recently lost my mum, and I cannot fault their care, she was returned from hospital to live her last days in what had become her home, they were brilliant.
I can’t praise them enough, care homes often get bad press, but in my opinion, I cannot fault them, all the staff are efficient and caring - well done.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.573)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.573) out of 10 for Seymour House - Northwood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.901 for Seymour House - Northwood is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.901
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.672 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Seymour House - Northwood is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.972
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
