Manton Heights Care Home is nestled in a popular residential area of Bedford.

The home is purpose-built and offers bespoke, person-centred care for individuals with Residential Dementia needs

I find the carers all so polite and kind to me. If I want to stop for dinner I can, the food is always very good. They are always so good to my partner. I would fully recommend them.

Carers always greet us by name which is personal to us. They actively ask us to stay for a meal. They call to check if care plan is satisfactory. Regular activities for entertainment and stimulation. My mum feels cared for and thinks the staff are kind and caring to her.

My Dad came to the ABI unit at Manton Heights Care Centre, Bedford from Luton hospital after suffering a stroke. The care that he received was outstanding by all the staff. The staff were very welcoming when we visited and kept us up-to-date with Dad's progress. We also noticed that the unit had a high
standard of cleanliness throughout. All the food was fresh on the day with a good selection.
Also, we felt with our many visits we had made new friends with the staff.

I can't thank Manton Heights ABI Unit enough for the fantastic care and support provided to my mum and our family during her time there. Mum's stroke left her particularly vulnerable and from the moment she arrived, we were welcomed with warmth, kindness and compassion, we immediately knew she was going
to be in safe hands.
Mum was at the unit for a number of months with every member of the team always going above and beyond to make sure Mum felt comfortable, supported and well cared for in her recovery. I am forever grateful and would like to thank all the hard-working care, therapy, management, catering and supporting staff for looking after her so well and always going the extra mile.
You truly are a wonderful, lovely and amazing bunch, and the best rehabilitation unit we could have hoped for with excellent facilities, I couldn't have asked for more. It felt like family and we will miss you. Thank you again for all you have done and for your kindness and dedication throughout.

I visited my friend again last week and he seems very settled and happy, we talked a lot and also went in the lounge where the staff had a small Christmas concert going on, it was lovely to see residents smiling and singing along to the carols, the lady told me my friend had settled in well and took
part in activities, as usual, all the staff were lovely, I was offered tea and biscuits and even lunch, I couldn't fault anything!

I wanted to say a huge thank you to the activities team at the care centre who are fabulous. They put so much time and effort into supporting residents to participate in continued activities throughout the day. They organise so many experiences, such as animal visits, cooking, keep fit to mention a

Everything that was needed was available, such as different types of therapy. The accommodation was excellent, with its own spacious room and en-suite. There was also a wardrobe, drawers and TV. The staff were all lovely and helpful. They communicated well with me. There was a lovely dining room, with
delicious food. Meals could also be eaten in the bedrooms. It was also possible to make your own drinks.

My brother was a resident for around seven weeks between August and October 2024.
The staff were all lovely and the standard of care was excellent, he made genuine progress with his speech difficulties which was the main focus of his recovery after suffering a stroke in July 2024.

My 91-year-old Dad was admitted to Manton Heights unit at the end of May 2024 for rehabilitation after a stroke in March 2024 whereby he had broken his foot and hand and required assistance to get back on his feet again and re-train his brain as he had become more confused than he used to be before
the stroke.
After 12 weeks of wonderful treatment and exercise at the unit and much caring love and assistance from all the team at Manton Heights he was finally able to return to his own home at the age of 92 and is now getting back to his routine in his own environment.
My Dad, Brother and I are forever grateful for the wonderful care that was given by all the teams at the unit and Dad grew very fond of all them as have I.
Dad managed to walk out of the Unit on the day we left and we are still very emotional when we think of all the teams and miss them and will return for a visit one day soon.
Thank you all so much for allowing us to have our Dad back.

On the day of my visit, it was my mum's birthday. The staff were so lovely to mum. They made a real fuss of her. the social staff hung a banner and balloons. The chef made her a beautiful cake and they all came in to sing Happy Birthday. Mum felt really special. I really can't fault the staff, they
all make a real effort with mum. This is lovely as I live abroad and don't visit often.

The unit was immediately friendly and welcoming. My mother went there straight from a hospital ward and it was so nice for her to have her own room with an en-suite and a beautiful view over the countryside through her window. The carers always looked after her so well and the therapists were brilliant
and enabled mum to improve really well with her impairments she suffered after her stroke. I would thoroughly recommend the ABI Unit needing support after a brain injury.

My husband came to stay at the home at the end of February and since then he has had the best care possible. All the staff are amazing, so patient, calm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. My 91-year-old mother was referred to Manton Heights ABI towards the end of March 24 following a 5-week hospitalisation as a result of a stroke that had left her left side impaired and only able to swallow pureed food. She was bedridden in hospital and completely immobile. In truth, I was sceptical
as to whether a period in a rehabilitation centre would achieve much particularly, as my mother was also on a fairly rapid dementia journey so her ability to relearn even normal activities would be challenging. However, the achievements of both the therapists and care team at Manton Heights ABI have been remarkable and my mother is now eating normally and is able to walk quite strongly with the aid of a walking frame. All this was achieved within a period of six weeks, allowing Mum to return to her normal care home residence. The family are very appreciative of the love, care and professional skills shown by the whole of the Manton Heights ABI team. Thank you.

After a recent admission at the ABI unit, and I cannot express enough gratitude to the entire team for their exceptional care during my stay. Following my referral due to MFS, a variant of GBS, I received nothing short of outstanding care. I faced significant challenges with mobility and coordination,
but thanks to the dedicated efforts of the team, after six weeks, I left with the ability to walk, albeit with the aid of a walking stick for emergencies. The care, support, and daily therapies I received were exceptional. The team at the ABI unit not only provided professional treatment but also fostered a warm, family atmosphere that made a significant difference in my recovery journey. I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every person involved in my care. Your collective efforts transformed what initially felt like a daunting ordeal into a story with a happy ending. We are extremely grateful for all the care and assistance that was afforded to our daughter following her stroke in January. She was transferred to Manton Heights directly from hospital in February and she made steady progress following extensive treatment including physiotherapy, group exercise, psychology

As a Registered Nurse, Vera has spent her career committed to improving the lives of those in her care. Her expertise extends beyond traditional healthcare—she also served as a medic in the Portuguese Air Force, where she honed essential skills in discipline, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. This unique experience has shaped her leadership style, enabling her to lead with both empathy and efficiency.

Sian Hughes

Sian Hughes, Lifestyle Lead at Manton Heights Care Centre, is dedicated to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.
With seven years in care, she started as a Community Support Worker before progressing to senior roles.
Sian joined the Manton Heights family as a Senior Rehab Assistant at the ABI Unit nearly three years ago. In February 2024, Sian moved to the role as Lifestyle Lead for Manton Heights Care Centre.
She completed her D.O.V.E.S dementia training in June 2024, further enhancing her skills.
Sian loves her role, leading a supportive team to bring joy to residents’ daily lives. She values the strong family atmosphere at Manton Heights, where staff, residents, and families support one another.
