Rehab following a stroke. Parent was up and walking with a frame and well and stable enough to be discharged home. Excellent therapy and care whilst in the ABI. An excellent facility. Cannot praise highly enough.

Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is a lovely care home. My mother has been extremely well looked after by attentive and caring staff. Today was her birthday and she was made to feel a very special 89 year old by the carers, many of whom made a special effort to come and wish her happy birthday.

Right from my initial phone query about Manton Heights, to the day Dad left the care home - we experienced nothing but pure professionalism, empathy and understanding from all of the staff.

The managers explained everything very clearly, they listened and didn't make me feel silly for all the questions

I was asking. Dad is quiet and isn't very sociable but the staff made sure they kept him comfortable. My Mum felt really confident he was in safe hands, the staff let her speak to him every day on the phone, and they told her how he was doing.

The rooms are clean, well well-ventilated, with a lot of quiet spaces, brightly lit and welcoming for residents. The staff have much positive energy and really care. This is what attracted me and Mum to the home. We'd gladly have Dad stay again.

Reply from Mark Bennett, Reviews Team at Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI CentreThank-you very much for such a positive review! Great to read that from initial enquiry to move-the experience is caring and attentive.

My mother moved in at the beginning of July. I have only managed to visit once, but I am very impressed with Manton Heights care home. Mum is well looked after, and anything she wants or needs, she only has to ask. Fortunately, my sisters and niece live more locally and have visited often. They are
also very impressed, and it's a great weight off our minds that Mum is getting such a high level of care. The building is modern and well maintained, the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.
Mum has her own room with an ensuite, with a nice view out of the window. The meals are very good with a variety of choices at every sitting.

Would be good if you would answer the door to allow visitors in. Came at 11am and rang the doorbell for approx 10 minutes.
Wonder why you feel that is something that is acceptable. Still, it’s not as though, this is a highly paid-for service.
Reply from Abigail Draper, Customer Relations Team at Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI CentreOn this particular day there were family and friends events going on throughout the home, including entertainment which we believe may have held up the door being answered on this occasion.
We would very much appreciate the opportunity to discuss your review further in person to enable our service to continue to grow.

The staff arranged a birthday party for Mum; it was lovely, and we all enjoyed ourselves.
The parking is very handy too.
After the care provided, Mum can now return home.

My mum came to Manton Heights Care home with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, she found it difficult to get used to a new place. But with the help of friendly staff making her feel comfortable after a while she felt secure and at home. I felt good knowing that my mum was safe, secure and busy participating
in the activities that she enjoyed doing.
On behalf of my mum, I want to say thank you for all the care and support you gave to my mum and my family.

If someone you know has just been admitted to Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre for rehabilitation please rest assured they are in very safe hands.
My mum was transferred here 3 months ago after suffering a life threatening stroke leaving her with extremely limited movement and speech.
Since
then the rehab team have put her through a regular routine of cognitive therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy which has seen her go from strength to strength.

I found my stay in Manton Heights to be most critical in getting me back on my feet and well on the way to becoming fully independent. After traumatic surgery by specialists at NHS Abden Brookes. and highly satisfactory.

Can't thank the staff enough for the care they give to my aunt. She was really poorly when she moved in but in just a few weeks they have her medication all sorted and it's given on time. My aunt, who is almost fully blind and was struggling to get around, can now walk well with a frame, each time I
have visited (unannounced) my aunt is in her own clothes, very clean and just looking so well. The staff speak to the people in their care with such dignity and respect, it is a comfort to all the family knowing that my aunt is well cared for and in a safe place. Thank you to all the staff.

My father moved in earlier this year and we are now on the third manager, I really hope this one stays!
Most of the staff are friendly, but there are times when I feel I can not ask questions because they are always busy.
The food always looks nice and the staff have been kind enough to offer me some.
The entrance is warm and welcoming and the rooms and communal rooms are very clean. My only complaint is there are not enough activities and my dad spends most of his days in his room.
Reply from Angela Reynolds, Lifestyle Manager at Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI CentreHello Jane, I am saddened that you have not witnessed your dad enjoying our activities at Manton Heights. I am the new regional group lifestyle manager and will ensure that the Manton lifestyle team, through speaking to your dad, put together a programme of things he likes to do, his hobbies/pastimes etc he enjoys and also would be happy to be engaged with as a group activity.
We want Dad to have a fulfilling day and we will do everything possible to make that happen.

My sister-in-law moved to Manton Heights just after her Birthday and missed her Birthday treat, usually a Chinese meal.
We had a lovely evening in the cinema room with a Chinese takeaway for my sister-in-law. Many thanks to one member of staff, in particular, for arranging the drinks and a cake for
the Birthday girl.
The carers are very patient with the residents and it was good to chat with the dementia ambassador.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.647)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.647) out of 10 for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 51 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.647 for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is calculated as follows: ( (417 Excellents x 5) + (136 Goods x 4) + (30 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 586 Ratings = 4.647
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is based on 48 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 91 registered maximum number of service users is 18.2, which has been reached with 48 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
