Manton Heights Care Home is nestled in a popular residential area of Bedford.

Not what I was lead to believe - I was informed it was like a hotel. Food is disgusting - OK if you like herbs (loads of them). Even when it is OK, such as Sunday lunch, they have run out of meat. Not always an evening drink given.

The whole family would like to thank the staff at Manton Heights for the wonderful care they gave to my father over the last 11 months of his life. His mobility was becoming severely limited, due to arthritis, so he agreed that he should move to the home to be closer to me. We all noticed that he became
so much more relaxed when he settled in, which was wonderful. He always told us that the staff treated him with dignity and told his friends that he was pleased he had moved, which was obviously a comfort to us. He got to know many of the staff very well and he enjoyed their company. It was wonderful to have him living so close to me and many family members were able to visit for coffee and a chat He was very frail when he moved into the home but we enjoyed much quality time over the last months of his life. I would highly recommend the home; it has a wonderfully calm and caring environment, excellent staff, was always very clean and comfortable with good food, the laundry and maintenance services were most efficient. We could all relax in the knowledge that my father was perfectly content and being very well looked after.

If it has been possible to give the staff a score of more than excellent we would have done so. My mother was treated with dignity and respect throughout her stay in what was a very caring environment. I have no hesitation in recommending the Manton Heights Care Centre.

A well-run care home in a purpose-built building. From day one the management and staff co-operated with our family to ensure the well-being of my wife. They consulted us on her likes and dislikes and gave frequent reports on the state of health and progress. It only took her a few days to settle in
and enjoy the care given and it was only her sudden and unexpected death which ended her stay.

I would even recommend myself for a place at Manton Heights if or when needed or any of my relatives or friends.
She was in Coulton and I can not fault the staff or assistants day or night or the administration and office staff, wonderful caring people.

I have had the hardest few months of my life.... my dad has Alzheimer’s diagnosed in 2013, last year he was unable to continue living independently so he moved in with me. I could not cope and was at my wit's end. I felt ashamed and useless. I had no choice but to look for residential care.
I met with
the Manager and he was so supportive, I’m not ashamed to say I cried all over him. He assessed my Dad, he was wonderful with him. The manager left and my Dad said 'well he was nice'!! He has not said that about anyone for ages.
He moved to Manton Heights and I cannot describe how much support we have received, the staff are amazing with him. He’s like a different person when he’s there. I’m not sure how they do it but they do thank you to each and every one. I know our family is extremely lucky to have your support.

I can't recommend the facility and staff at Manton Heights enough.
The care, respect and dignity they provide ae top quality, without exception, they are always happy to talk to family and friends about anything. Very supportive at what was a very difficult time to the family. My only request would
be for more activities for those who are still wanting to be active, gardening, walking, card games, craft, sewing, painting, bowling and swimming.

Before Dad entered the home, we found staff to be very friendly. On entering the home, Dad was made to feel at home straight away.
Staff were on hand to assist him if he needed help. They treated him as if he had been there a long time.
He took up residence on 15th April 2019.

Our mother (who has dementia) has lived at Manton Heights Care Centre for over 3 years and during the earlier part of that time, the quality of the care was variable. More recently, under a new management team, we have seen improvements in both the overall level and the consistency of care. We feel
our mother is known to the staff as a person. They have a good understanding of her needs and make adjustments as her condition progresses. They have given a lot of time to our family - supporting 2-way communication of thoughts and ideas about mum's care. It is a very open environment in terms of relatives visiting. The lounge & dining areas have been redecorated recently and are light, bright and comfortable with new furniture. A good range of activities are provided for residents. As relatives, it does take some time to appreciate the very demanding nature of the task of providing care for elderly people with dementia. Though more expensive than we would like, we deem the Manton Heights Care Centre to be doing a good job. Thank you

My grandfather has been in the loving care of Manton Heights Care Home since July 2015. The care and compassion from all of the staff within the home, at all levels, has been second to none.


Grandad was cared for by the staff at the home over the last few days of his life. We were able to stay with

him all day and night at his bedside, and both the day and night staff were amazing, they treated my grandad with respect and dignity throughout and were always checking to see if we were ok and if they could get us anything. I could really see how much they all cared for my grandad, as so many of them expressed how much they were going to miss him and the memories they have shared.


Lastly, thank you to each and every member of staff at Manton Heights for your care, compassion and support throughout such a sad and difficult time for our family. We are indebted to Manton Heights for the excellent care we have received and would recommend them to anyone needing care beyond the family.

Having arrived in September and after not being cared for properly at another care home, my Mother has settled in very well at Manton Heights. The standard and comparisons between the two homes are very noticeable. The proactive manager and his team are very friendly, caring, helpful and approachable.
The level of care and kindness they show to all residents, not just my mother, is exceptional. Communication is excellent and regular relative meetings are held. My mother's room is bright, clean and airy. The dining area is very well laid out in restaurant style when in use and there is a lovely separate lounge, which has recently been refurbished. There are activities for those who wish to join in and an on-site hairdressing facility.

Caring good staff with plenty going on. Friendly office staff and management are helpful. Kept up to date with all things. Home is clean and good food. Always welcome to visit with no restrictions on visits. Big room so if you want to, you can remain private.

My mother was very happy and settled most of the time during the 5 years she lived at Manton Heights. Her end of life care was excellent. The care staff were sensitive and kind to her and they treated her with dignity and respect. They were also very supportive to me and my family as we kept vigil by

My mother sadly passed away at Manton Heights this week.


She has been a resident in the Maulden Dementia Unit for the last 8/9 months. The care she has received has been exemplary. On arrival from another local care home, her condition and demeanour actually improved. She calmed down and was back

to being my joyous Mum again.


Her passing was thankfully speedy, dignified and peaceful and this was in no small measure due to the carers and assistants. 48 hours before her death, she had been on one of the units trips out to Milton Keynes to see the Christmas shops, which she enjoyed immensely.


Leaving her room for the last time was difficult, but the sympathy, empathy and sheer consideration for myself and my wife made the whole process a great deal easier. I shall always be grateful to the staff from top to bottom all of whom showed the best in human kindness at a difficult time.


I have experience of other care homes for other relatives and can thoroughly recommend Manton Heights.

Our mum came here in April 2018 after we had provided full-time care for her at home and her condition had deteriorated to the point where we knew she needed to be in a much safer environment. I had seen quite a few homes and knew the moment I walked in this was somewhere different. We have always found
the staff extremely helpful and management even more so, always going to extra mile to ensure our mum is happy. Our mum is safe, happy and there are always plenty of activities every day.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a residential home for a relative with dementia.

Manton Heights is a nearly new purpose-built, (rather than an adapted dwelling) care home, that offers a personal touch with excellent modern facilities. The whole site is clean, light and airy with very contentious staff who really care about the residents. It is not the cheapest care home in the area,
but the facilities and staff make it a good investment for the wellbeing of your relative, with a dedicated Dementia wing where the staff are lovely.

Overall the standard of care has been good. When dealing with resident's physical needs most staff appear to be competent and kind. A wide range of food has been available for breakfast. Staff have been willing to provide something different if residents ask for something that is not on the menu. The
dining room has been decorated and new dining chairs provided. On the whole, laundry has been satisfactory provided all items are named with the room number. Residents and relative meetings have provided information and allow relatives to express their concerns.

Sian Hughes

Job Title: Lifestyle Lead Joined: 2022

Sian Hughes, Lifestyle Lead at Manton Heights Care Centre, is dedicated to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.
With seven years in care, she started as a Community Support Worker before progressing to senior roles.
Sian joined the Manton Heights family as a Senior Rehab Assistant at the ABI Unit nearly three years ago. In February 2024, Sian moved to the role as Lifestyle Lead for Manton Heights Care Centre.
She completed her D.O.V.E.S dementia training in June 2024, further enhancing her skills.
Sian loves her role, leading a supportive team to bring joy to residents’ daily lives. She values the strong family atmosphere at Manton Heights, where staff, residents, and families support one another.
