Before Dad entered the home, we found staff to be very friendly. On entering the home, Dad was made to feel at home straight away.
Staff were on hand to assist him if he needed help. They treated him as if he had been there a long time.
He took up residence on 15th April 2019.

Our mother (who has dementia) has lived at Manton Heights Care Centre for over 3 years and during the earlier part of that time, the quality of the care was variable. More recently, under a new management team, we have seen improvements in both the overall level and the consistency of care. We feel
our mother is known to the staff as a person. They have a good understanding of her needs and make adjustments as her condition progresses. They have given a lot of time to our family - supporting 2-way communication of thoughts and ideas about mum's care. It is a very open environment in terms of relatives visiting. The lounge & dining areas have been redecorated recently and are light, bright and comfortable with new furniture. A good range of activities are provided for residents. As relatives, it does take some time to appreciate the very demanding nature of the task of providing care for elderly people with dementia. Though more expensive than we would like, we deem the Manton Heights Care Centre to be doing a good job. Thank you

My grandfather has been in the loving care of Manton Heights Care Home since July 2015. The care and compassion from all of the staff within the home, at all levels, has been second to none.

Grandad was cared for by the staff at the home over the last few days of his life. We were able to stay with

him all day and night at his bedside, and both the day and night staff were amazing, they treated my grandad with respect and dignity throughout and were always checking to see if we were ok and if they could get us anything. I could really see how much they all cared for my grandad, as so many of them expressed how much they were going to miss him and the memories they have shared.

Lastly, thank you to each and every member of staff at Manton Heights for your care, compassion and support throughout such a sad and difficult time for our family. We are indebted to Manton Heights for the excellent care we have received and would recommend them to anyone needing care beyond the family.

Having arrived in September and after not being cared for properly at another care home, my Mother has settled in very well at Manton Heights. The standard and comparisons between the two homes are very noticeable. The proactive manager and his team are very friendly, caring, helpful and approachable.
The level of care and kindness they show to all residents, not just my mother, is exceptional. Communication is excellent and regular relative meetings are held. My mother's room is bright, clean and airy. The dining area is very well laid out in restaurant style when in use and there is a lovely separate lounge, which has recently been refurbished. There are activities for those who wish to join in and an on-site hairdressing facility.

My mother was very happy and settled most of the time during the 5 years she lived at Manton Heights. Her end of life care was excellent. The care staff were sensitive and kind to her and they treated her with dignity and respect. They were also very supportive to me and my family as we kept vigil by
her bedside. Thank you.

My mother sadly passed away at Manton Heights this week.

She has been a resident in the Maulden Dementia Unit for the last 8/9 months. The care she has received has been exemplary. On arrival from another local care home, her condition and demeanour actually improved. She calmed down and was back

to being my joyous Mum again.

Her passing was thankfully speedy, dignified and peaceful and this was in no small measure due to the carers and assistants. 48 hours before her death, she had been on one of the units trips out to Milton Keynes to see the Christmas shops, which she enjoyed immensely.

Leaving her room for the last time was difficult, but the sympathy, empathy and sheer consideration for myself and my wife made the whole process a great deal easier. I shall always be grateful to the staff from top to bottom all of whom showed the best in human kindness at a difficult time.

I have experience of other care homes for other relatives and can thoroughly recommend Manton Heights.

Our mum came here in April 2018 after we had provided full-time care for her at home and her condition had deteriorated to the point where we knew she needed to be in a much safer environment. I had seen quite a few homes and knew the moment I walked in this was somewhere different. We have always found
the staff extremely helpful and management even more so, always going to extra mile to ensure our mum is happy. Our mum is safe, happy and there are always plenty of activities every day.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a residential home for a relative with dementia.

Manton Heights is a nearly new purpose-built, (rather than an adapted dwelling) care home, that offers a personal touch with excellent modern facilities. The whole site is clean, light and airy with very contentious staff who really care about the residents. It is not the cheapest care home in the area,
but the facilities and staff make it a good investment for the wellbeing of your relative, with a dedicated Dementia wing where the staff are lovely.

Overall the standard of care has been good. When dealing with resident's physical needs most staff appear to be competent and kind. A wide range of food has been available for breakfast. Staff have been willing to provide something different if residents ask for something that is not on the menu. The
dining room has been decorated and new dining chairs provided. On the whole, laundry has been satisfactory provided all items are named with the room number. Residents and relative meetings have provided information and allow relatives to express their concerns.

My father came to Manton Heights for rehab after being in hospital for many weeks. From the start, the staff and management were friendly and caring both to my dad and his family.
They ensured that all his needs were met both medically and physically and often went above and beyond what was expected,
by their dedication to my dad's care and happiness.
My dad liked the staff, including domestic staff who often popped into his room for a chat.
My family were kept informed and updated on all aspects of his care.
We were grateful for the staff's professionalism.

During the time my wife was in care, she was cared for well. At certain times, the care varied as the attention of the carers varied according to the different teams that were on duty.

The management structure has changed which is improving the standard of care but is a slow project due to the difficulty

of recruitment ie standard of applicants. Part of that problem is the appalling wages.

In the final days of my wife's life, the care and attention and support for me was excellent.

After the sudden passing of my mother and my father suffering from Dementia our immediate thoughts were Dad having to be placed in a care home, fortunately for us, he was accepted into Manton Heights Care Centre 24 hours after my mums passing, unfortunately for us as a family Dad passed away 4 weeks
after mum. During my dad's short stay we found all the staff to be friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble, we were constantly kept up to date with Dads unfortunate deterioration by his Key Worker along with other staff members in her absence. The compassion shown on the day of dads passing began with the initial call from the night staff through to the Administrator, Home Manager and other staff members.
As a family, we would not hesitate in recommending Manton Heights.

Mum was only at Manton Heights for 10 days for respite but during this time she was treated with the best of care. I would fully recommend this care home to everyone that needed to be cared for. We the family were kept updated with everything that was going on. The staff were excellent. Mum was always
put first whatever she liked to eat they tried to accommodate. Nothing was too much trouble.

I would like to highly recommend both the facilities and staff at Manton Heights. My Mother spent her last year there and did so in comfort and with all of the attention possible from a really lovely team. Everyone there; nurses, carers, cooks, cleaners and admin staff all seemed to take a personal
interest in Mum and treated her with care, dignity and respect. My sister and I were frequent visitors as were other family members and we were always happy with the way in which Mum was being looked after. She slipped away quietly when her time came and it was a great comfort to know that her last days were comfortable and peaceful. Thank you all.

The best aspect of Manton Heights is the dedication and professionalism of all the staff (there is a single carer whose standards are not as high as I would like). The residents in Carlton Wing are treated with care respect even when displaying challenging behaviours local management take their responsibilities
very seriously too and react quickly to any complaints on concerns.
Any issues which is why I have not rated overall as excellent this is due to lack of staff sometimes the common areas appear disorganised e.g lack of cushions, lack of chairs. Meal times are sometimes disorganised especially for those who need to be fed and residents not always overseen.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.590)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.590) out of 10 for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 49 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.590 for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is calculated as follows: ( (373 Excellents x 5) + (151 Goods x 4) + (34 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 561 Ratings = 4.59
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 91 registered maximum number of service users is 18.2, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
