Manton Heights Care Home is nestled in a popular residential area of Bedford.

Lovely, very impressed. I would be happy to stay here if I ever needed to and Mum is happy so far and that's top priority and peace of mind for me and family. It's like a hotel and warm and friendly and caring.

Can I please convey our family's appreciation and many thanks to all the staff at Manton Height ABI Unit. The way you have all looked after Dad, and pushed him to get back to some normality in the last 6 weeks has been fantastic and we know he will miss you all as he has become very fond of the staff
who have cared for him, we are very lucky to have had him stay with you. He is currently sitting back in his chair and keeping a watchful eye on his garden.

My brother has been at Manton Hieghts since October 2022. The staff are brilliant - very friendly and caring to both the residents and their family. They do their very best for the residents who can sometimes be challenging. The home is well kept, and the food is great - I am able to eat with my brother
which is a lovely touch. Although he doesn't join in with the activities much, the staff do try to encourage him. I am kept informed of any issues and it is such a relief to know that he is being so well cared for. Thank you to everyone at the home.

I would like to thank all the staff and care workers for taking care of my Mum and Dad who both arrived last week and am so happy that they have been put into adjacent rooms.
A big shout out and thank you to the lady who has been so helpful and really looked after me and my sister and our daughters
when we have visited.
The kitchen staff and chef are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is so clean. The care home is very clean and tidy and everyone is looked after. I am happy to know my Mum and Dad are together and are being well looked after and entertained!

Both my grandparents are currently residing at Manton Heights and I’ve been so impressed with not just the big things but the attention to detail. Their rooms are big and clean, the food is amazing and well thought out for their needs, the entertainment is lovely but most of all the staff are wonderful
and so kind. Two ladies have been especially kind and very empathetic to our family's situation, I feel they really have our back which means so much. I hope my grandparents can stay here as the relief of knowing they are so well cared for is beyond comforting. I might even book myself a room for the future (just in case)

Our 87-year-old, very active and independent Step-Mum suffered a serious stroke in November 2023, which required two weeks of intensive care at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
From there she was discharged to the ABI Centre at Manton Heights in Bedford a small (12-bed) specialist rehabilitation
unit. We have had no experience with this before, but cannot stress enough just how good this unit has been. First-class facilities, a tailored, well-structured daily programme of speech therapy, physiotherapy and counselling complemented by voluntary but encouraging group sessions with others who had also suffered a stroke, and easy, relaxed visiting. The results have been truly remarkable and our step-mum has now returned home, with a fully structured care package following excellent liaison between the unit and Social Services.

From the day that Mum arrived at Manton Heights ABI unit, there was an individual plan for her rehabilitation. Every single member of staff at the unit contributed to Mum's development and to the excellent communication with family members. It was amazing to see the steady improvement whilst she was
a resident and, because I was included in the planning, I was able to learn how to support her to continue to improve once she returned home. The sense of community in the unit was an important aspect for Mum and she was able to re-learn, first to communicate and then to support and encourage others. I was amazed one day when she told me about the fit of giggles that had started in a group exercise class. I would not hesitate to recommend the team at Manton Heights to anyone who needs ABI rehabilitation.

Mantle Heights was absolutely exceptional and beyond anything I expected of a care home. The staff built not just a professional bond with my mum but she saw them as friends. They understood every need my mum had and catered for everything we asked of them. They were exceptional at keeping in touch
and keeping me informed of any meetings or appointments my mum had.
She was given a lovely room which was suitable for her needs and always clean.
They went above and beyond and I couldn’t recommend Mantel Heights more. The manager was brilliant and considering what he has to do daily he always kept me in the loop of things. Fantastic place.

Since he has been in Manton Heights we have had no problems. They have taken care of him very well. He has settled in well. He is now eating well.

My father was a difficult case as he came from hospital not mobile at all. He was treated fairly by all staff members at the home, they tried many different exercises to get him moving about/in a completely different mindset from when he started.
He was given physiotherapy, they were patient and kind
to him and provided him with the tools to get up and get moving again (was able to go to the toilet alone unassisted) and he walked back from the car to his home added with a frame. He was given speech therapy, along with many other opportunities within the home.
The home is lovely, brand new in fact, really nicely decorated and the rooms are great sizes. Good facilities for visitors and patients also. The team even dropped my father back at home and saw his home environment/equipment was adequate. All my phone calls, all my visits and the team did everything they could. Thank you. Would recommend this unit 100%.

Rehab following a stroke. Parent was up and walking with a frame and well and stable enough to be discharged home. Excellent therapy and care whilst in the ABI. An excellent facility. Cannot praise highly enough.

Manton Heights Care Centre & ABI Centre is a lovely care home. My mother has been extremely well looked after by attentive and caring staff. Today was her birthday and she was made to feel a very special 89 year old by the carers, many of whom made a special effort to come and wish her happy birthday.

Right from my initial phone query about Manton Heights, to the day Dad left the care home - we experienced nothing but pure professionalism, empathy and understanding from all of the staff.


The managers explained everything very clearly, they listened and didn't make me feel silly for all the questions

I was asking. Dad is quiet and isn't very sociable but the staff made sure they kept him comfortable. My Mum felt really confident he was in safe hands, the staff let her speak to him every day on the phone, and they told her how he was doing.


The rooms are clean, well well-ventilated, with a lot of quiet spaces, brightly lit and welcoming for residents. The staff have much positive energy and really care. This is what attracted me and Mum to the home. We'd gladly have Dad stay again.

I would like to thank the staff at Manton Heights for putting in so much effort and time into entertaining the residents. She really is very passionate about her job and goes the extra mile.
I have found it very stressful having to put my mother into a care home but the whole team at Manton Heights
are absolutely amazing!

When you walk into Manton Heights you see people smiling. Everyone is friendly and keen to help. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. The rooms are light and airy and there is a lovely outside garden area to sit in. It is comfortable and clean and informal. There is a relaxed, cheerful and respectful
relationship between staff and residents. It is easy to see that the staff really care about the residents.

My mother moved in at the beginning of July. I have only managed to visit once, but I am very impressed with Manton Heights care home. Mum is well looked after, and anything she wants or needs, she only has to ask. Fortunately, my sisters and niece live more locally and have visited often. They are
also very impressed, and it's a great weight off our minds that Mum is getting such a high level of care. The building is modern and well maintained, the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.
Mum has her own room with an ensuite, with a nice view out of the window. The meals are very good with a variety of choices at every sitting.

Would be good if you would answer the door to allow visitors in. Came at 11am and rang the doorbell for approx 10 minutes.
Wonder why you feel that is something that is acceptable. Still, it’s not as though, this is a highly paid-for service.

As a Registered Nurse, Vera has spent her career committed to improving the lives of those in her care. Her expertise extends beyond traditional healthcare—she also served as a medic in the Portuguese Air Force, where she honed essential skills in discipline, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. This unique experience has shaped her leadership style, enabling her to lead with both empathy and efficiency.


For Vera, managing a care home is about more than just providing support—it’s about creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where residents feel valued and fulfilled. She takes pride in fostering a team-oriented culture, continuously seeking innovative ways to enhance well-being and the overall resident experience.

Hannah Fowler

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2025

Hannah joined Manton Heights Care Centre in February 2025, bringing over 10 years of specialist experience in supporting individuals living with dementia across care homes, hospitals, and community settings.


A Dementia Champion, trained by the University of Worcester and currently completing a Master’s degree in Dementia, Hannah is passionate about sharing her knowledge and supporting others to deliver compassionate, person-centred care.


Her approach focuses on getting to know each resident’s life story, preferences, and routines to create moments of comfort, connection, and reassurance. She encourages independence wherever possible, helping residents to live with dignity, purpose, and joy.


As Deputy Manager, Hannah takes pride in mentoring her team and promoting a positive, supportive environment where everyone feels valued. “What I love most about my role is making a difference every day — helping residents live well with dementia and supporting a team that truly cares.”

Sian

Sian Hughes

Job Title: Lifestyle Lead Joined: 2022

Sian Hughes, Lifestyle Lead at Manton Heights Care Centre, is dedicated to creating meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.
With seven years in care, she started as a Community Support Worker before progressing to senior roles.
Sian joined the Manton Heights family as a Senior Rehab Assistant at the ABI Unit nearly three years ago. In February 2024, Sian moved to the role as Lifestyle Lead for Manton Heights Care Centre.
She completed her D.O.V.E.S dementia training in June 2024, further enhancing her skills.
Sian loves her role, leading a supportive team to bring joy to residents’ daily lives. She values the strong family atmosphere at Manton Heights, where staff, residents, and families support one another.
