I arrived at Monkscroft Care Centre in March on a stretcher from the hospital. I was paralysed from the waist down, incontinent and I could not wash myself. I could also not talk. I remember being taken into a lovely clean room, comfortable bed, shower and toilet with a lovely view looking out onto vegetation. Everybody (carers) was so kind to me and never ever complained about incontinence in bed which is really a ghastly job. At the time when I arrived, I was left alone but everybody kept a good eye on me. As I recovered I was able to talk to the carers. They would tell me about themselves, what nationality they were and where they came from which I found was so interesting. The manager was amazing. She listened endlessly to any problems and encouraged me. She had soul and was so kind like everyone else. My friend who used to come and visit me said no other person would have put up with the likes of me and my untidy husband who used to leave a trail of biscuits around the room. I eventually left and now live at home and made a full recovery. I walk and talk endlessly, and danced a festival until 4 in the morning. I have a good appetite and am back in love with my husband. Without Monkscroft it would never have been possible.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience. Your progress and your story are very moving and we hope many others will be motivated by it. We are delighted to hear that you have continued your recovery and are back to full health. Dancing at a festival till 4 am? You are an inspiration to us all! Please do keep in touch - we would love to hear more about your adventures.
My mum was admitted for 2 weeks respite following increasing difficulties with activities of daily living due to frailty. She is a private but friendly lady - enjoying a balance of time to herself with conversations and company. Within a few days of her visit she decided that she wanted to stay permanently. Besides the setting and facilities her key reason for making the decision is the wonderful team of nurses and carers. She tells us regularly that every single member of staff is lovely. I have no doubt in recommending to others.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, and for sharing your mum's experiences of moving to Monkscroft. It can be a daunting prospect but I'm glad that our team has been able to put your mum's mind at ease and make her feel welcome. Do please let us know if there is anything else we can do to support her, or you.
The care and attention of the staff at Monkscroft is amazing. They have all helped the family adjust to a situation that is difficult to cope with and accept. The care of my husband is exemplary. He enjoys the activities that he is able to join in with and seems very content. It is a pleasure to visit Monkscroft.
We really appreciate your kind words, thank you. It's an honour to have your husband with us at Monkscroft, and we're delighted to see him so happy and settled with us. It's a pleasure to be able to support our residents' families too so please don't hesitate to ask if there is anything more we can do to help you.
We have been so reassured at every stage that my dad has been here. He seems so content and the staff are continually watching to make sure all his needs are being met. There are great activities and it is very much a home from home where we can visit at any time and take in our assorted pets! Dad looks very well cared for and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you.
We really appreciate your kind words, thank you. I'm sure your feedback will be helpful to others in a similar situation, to offer them reassurance. It's a pleasure to have your Dad with us, and if there is anything more we can do for him, the pets, or your family, please just let us know.
Since my dad has been in Monkscroft with vascular dementia, he has been looked after with the greatest respect. The staff are so kind and friendly to my dad and his family. My dad can be very difficult at times but the staff including the cleaners and admin are fantastic with him. We could have moved Dad to a care home nearer to us but the care he receives in Monkcroft is fantastic.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review, and for sharing your family's story and experience - I'm sure it will be both reassuring and comforting to other families in a similar position. If there is anything more we can do to help make your dad's time with us even better, please don't hesitate to ask.
The current access system is awful. We arrive at the main door only to have to wait over 20 minutes to gain access. This is an unacceptable time frame and takes time away from being with family members. This needs to be reviewed in my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback. We will take it on board and review options.
Whenever I visit, I am always greeted with a cheerful reception. My sister is well looked after and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The other residents are managed well and are provided with their needs.
Many thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to share your opinions on our home - we do appreciate it. We're glad to have your sister with us and if there is anything else we can do to support her, or yourself, please just let us know.
I would like to say the manager and deputy manager have been so kind to me and helped me so much with whatever issues or questions I have had. They are amazing. I was left very upset after a meeting with the nurse, but this morning, the manager and deputy manager spent time with me, discussing it. They couldn't have been kinder and more helpful if they tried and were concerned I had been so upset.
What a lovely review to read, thank you! We're always glad to be able to support families as much as the residents themselves, and if there is anything more we can do to help, please just let us know. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
My brother is at Springbank Ward and is very well looked after. The staff on that ward go over and above to care for him. My only criticism is, no one in reception at weekends. You can wait ages before being admitted to visit.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, and for your feedback, which has been noted. It's a pleasure to have your brother with us here at Monkscroft.
My dad spent 6 months at Monkscroft where he was given loving care and respect throughout his time there. We cannot thank the Monkscroft team enough (across management, reception, cleaners, handyman, carers and nurses) for everything they did to make my dad's time there as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. All the team made my dad and all of us feel so welcome and part of a wider caring family, and all the team went well beyond just doing their job. I cannot thank the amazing team for everything they have done for us and my dad over the last 6 months and for the friendships we have made.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, and for your kind words - it does mean a lot to us all. It was an honour to care for your dad here at Monkscroft, and if there is anything else was do for your family, please don't hesitate to ask.
The care given to residents is very good, Mum is always clean and tidy. I feel Mum is in safe hands.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are glad to have your Mum as part of the Monkscroft family. If there is anything more she needs, just let us know.
Mum has been a resident here for 20 months. We chose Monkscroft as previously my brother spent his last days here. Our family were so pleased with the care he was given which to us there was no other choice. We are so pleased with everything that happens in Monkscroft. All of the staff are very welcoming and friendly with all of my family and me. We are so pleased she's here.
It's a privilege to be able to care for your Mum as it was for your brother. We appreciate your kind words and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Do let us know if there is anything else we can do for your family.
The staff and the management are always polite and helpful.
My brother-in-law is receiving good care.
We're glad to have your brother-in-law with us at Monkscroft and if there is anything else he needs from us, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for taking the time to write a review - we do appreciate your feedback.
Mum lived here from July 2022 - September 2023 when she passed away. The home is professionally run and the staff are knowledgeable, well-trained, friendly, caring and patient. Although there are some new faces over her time there, in my opinion, staff turnover seems low and suggests it’s a happy ship. There have been a couple of issues and they were handled well, although one took a while longer than I would have hoped, I’m satisfied that improvements were put in place.
Thank you for your candour and for taking the time to write us a review. We are sorry for your loss - it was an honour to care for your mum and it was a pleasure to have her with us here at Monkscroft.
I found Monkscroft Care Centre to be a wonderful place to be at, my wife received the best care attendance for the short time she was there. It was beyond the bounds of excellence, the care and kindness was second to none. It has a welcoming elegance and the staff, right from the maids to nursing staff, could not do enough for the residents that are in there. The food was well cooked and plenty of it if you wished. General areas were spotlessly clean and tidy. My wife died while in there and they were kind, considerate and helped me and my family through a difficult time. I cannot praise this place high enough.
Thank you for your kind words. It was an honour to care for your wife and she is missed by our team here. We are so sorry for your loss. Please do let us know if there is anything more we can do for your family.
Monkscroft Care Centre is a very caring and friendly home, looking after my mother, who has dementia. We have been very happy with Mum's care, and the team have a great way of helping everybody feel comfortable in the home.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Please do let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or for your mum.
We are very happy with the care provided by Monkscroft Care Centre. The staff here are very friendly and caring while remaining professional at all times. They are helpful and considerate of Mum's needs, both mentally and physically. The home is very clean at all times, and all rooms are fresh and spacious. The activities provided throughout the week have helped Mum considerably, especially helping her to form friendships and interact with others. We always feel comfortable and relaxed when visiting mainly due to the staff's friendly and positive attitude and the open hours of visitation. The home is the best we could have hoped for. We would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and recommendation. We do appreciate hearing it. I'm so glad your Mum is happy with us and that you feel relaxed and comfortable when you come to visit, do let us know if we can do any more to help.
As a family, we have been impressed and so grateful for the care and love which has been shown to our mother for the last couple of years of her life. Staff have been so kind to her and to us as a family. They have been thoughtful and considerate and we are happy to have chosen Monkscroft for her care.
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write us a review - we do appreciate it. I'm so glad your mother has been happy with us at Monkscroft.
The room is very nice with a lovely view of the garden and sunshine. The staff are very nice, friendly, kind and considerate - all of them. They always have a smile. Care is good, and prompt response to my bell calls. The place is clean and modern, and the food is nice. It has a happy atmosphere.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of Monkscroft. I have no doubt that it will be very helpful for others looking for a care home to hear your views. We're glad you're happy here.
My husband after spending 4 months in hospital was discharged to Monkscroft for assessment of future needs. It was decided after the initial assessment that my husband would need long-term residential care. This was a very worrying time for us as a family but the care, support and help that was given to us all by the staff at Monkscroft was second to none. Unfortunately at that particular time due to there being no vacancies at Monkscroft for full-time care, it looked like we would have to look for an alternative care centre. During this very stressful time again the support we see all given by staff was much appreciated. When we were told that a vacancy had arisen and my husband was able to stay at Monkscroft it was like a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. My husband has settled in very well, all the staff treat him with the utmost respect and patience. We as a family myself our son and young grandson could not be made more welcome whenever we visit.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences. I'm so glad your husband has settled in well and that your family is also feeling supported. If there is anything more any of the team at Monkscroft can do to help you, your husband or your wider family, please don't hesitate to ask.
