Mum was admitted to the care sector after a stay in hospital. She was in another home for assessment and we searched for a home nearer to the family. We looked at many homes and found Monkscroft. At first, Mum was very unsettled as she had moved from a 3-bedroom house with a large garden and many memories. All staff were very patient with her for many weeks and slowly she became used to them and accepting of the fact that she could not take care of herself at her own home. During the time that Mum was getting used to being in Monkscroft, I had a few concerns which were dealt with promptly and efficiently by the correct people. I love that the manager and other administrative staff are all so available so it is easy to reach the correct person to speak to. Monkscroft is now Mum's home and she has asked for more and more of her belongings to be brought in. The care staff have now got to know her quite well (she is a very complex woman) and the care given is second to none.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and share your experiences - it will undoubtedly be helpful for other families in a similar position. I'm so pleased your mum is settling in well at Monkscroft, and that the team there have been able to support both her and you. I will pass on your comments to the team at the home as I know they do love to hear the feedback.
I miss having my wife at home with me but I know she is very well looked after at Monkscroft Care Centre. The staff are so friendly and the nursing care is superb so I don't need to worry about that.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review - we really do appreciate it. Please do let us know if there is anything more we can do to support you or your wife.
You always have doubts about the transfer of your mother from hospital to a care home, especially, leaving her beautiful home. I had everything planned for the care home I wanted mum to be placed in. I had no choice at first because Brokerage placed mum for an assessment at Monkscroft Care Centre in Shelly Road but I shouldn't have worried. The feelings, the surroundings, and the atmosphere is lovely and mum and I were made very welcome. This was the right place for mum, so you can gather this is mum's new home.
Thank you so much for your feedback and for sharing your experiences with Monkscroft. I'm sure your review will be reassuring to others in a similar situation, and we appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. I'll share your comments with the team at the home as I know they love to hear them.
Wanted to leave this review to reflect the excellent care that my father-in-law received. He had cancer so was taken into Monkscroft for palliative care. Such a very hard time, so sad and scary. All the nursing staff and everyone at the care home were lovely and welcoming. The rooms are big and the communal rooms are bright and kept immaculately clean. His care was impeccable, I cannot thank the manager and her team enough and would recommend Monkscroft to anyone who finds themselves looking for great care for a relative or friend. Thank you all.
Monkscroft Care is, without question one, of the finest homes in the UK, in my opinion. First-rate accommodation and spotlessly clean throughout. The staff are a credit to the care profession, highly trained, kind, empathetic and superb in all they do. I would highly recommend Monkscroft Care to anybody.
The care at Monkscroft is second to none. My mother, 18 months ago, and my father just recently, were treated with the utmost respect and kept comfortable and safe at the end of their lives. Their care and concern extended to me and my family. The staff went above and beyond what anyone would expect, staying way after their shift ended when it was obvious my father was in his last hours. I cannot thank them enough.
My friend was admitted into the care home as a matter of urgency right from the start she has received the best of care during a traumatic time. Now, five months later, she loves being in the home. She treats the staff as her friends, she is happy and well cared for. For me, my priority was for her to be safe and her needs were met immediately. Now, she remains safe but is also happy and content and well cared for. Well done, to all at the care home.
I am happy and relieved that my dad is able to stay at Monkscroft. My husband and I can see that the staff genuinely care about the residents. They treat my dad with dignity and love. I live far away and they happily arrange for me to video call him regularly. When I visit in person, they take the time to speak to me and are so welcoming. It means the world to my dad that the staff interact with him, having a joke and a laugh. He has told me how much he likes them many times and he comments on how hard they work. He never gives false compliments and I know that he means it. Since coming to stay at Monkscroft, his mobility has really improved. He used to stumble a lot but the staff have ensured that his medication has been corrected and have helped him to use his walker correctly. I am really surprised that he is so much more mobile. There is a happy atmosphere in Monkscroft which the staff generate. It is a unique and special place and I am so grateful that my dad is there.
As I used to be my mum's 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, live-in registered carer for 10 years it is very important for me to find the right location and environment for my disabled, amazing and wonderful Mum.
Monkscroft Care Centre is the clean, homely, active and outstanding nursing environment where my sharp as a pin Mum is happy to be.
I know from direct experience that the wonderful care team focuses on the needs and wishes of each resident to provide a tailored and adaptable care plan. Which for my mum means I'm happy to still be actively involved with her care from morning to night. Monkscroft encourages me to be there for as long as I like each day.
Monkscroft is an outstanding team of professional, highly dedicated, and friendly people who don't just work there. It's their vocation. I have no hesitation in recommending Monkscroft Care Centre.Namaste.
My wife entered Monkscroft Care Centre in September 2021 - she settled in very quickly thanks entirely to the wonderful care and attention that she received there from the care staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Monkscroft is a first class establishment and an excellent example of what a care home should be like.
Whenever I or my cousin visit our uncle, we always find him clean, tidy and well presented. His room has some of his more important things, photos etc and it feels like a home - a safe and secure home. We have always found the staff and carers to be kind and approachable and we have no hesitation in recommending Monkscroft.
My husband passed away in February after spending nearly four years at Monkscroft. I do not have the words to describe the care (and love) he has been given during what has been such a difficult time with Covid. Without exception, he was treated with dignity and as an individual. As his dementia progressed, the carers understood and looked after him appropriately and respected him. Thank you so much all of you. He died peacefully in his room with myself beside him.
After a fall and hospitalisation, my mother could no longer live independently. I was pleased to get a place for her at this popular and outstanding care home. The staff could not have been more helpful in supporting her to settle in. She says that the staff are lovely. They know her so well after just 2 weeks. When visiting, I see her looking smart and well-groomed after weeks of her wearing only nightdresses, she is now helped into and out of bed and staff are working to introduce her to new foods after years of a basic monotonous diet. My mind and our family now have peace of mind.
Kind, friendly and caring staff who go above and beyond to provide care and comfort to residents during some of their most challenging times. Always patient. Always willing to listen. And always open, prompt and transparent communication with relatives. Would thoroughly recommend Monkscroft for those needing both long term and respite care.
All staff are very friendly and helpful. Always ready to have a chat.
All staff are always very nice and most helpful over anything you want and need to know.
Have seen a great improvement in my sister's health and well being since she has been at Monkscroft, all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The home looks so clean and tidy with a very welcoming entrance hall.
This is an excellent care centre, well run and managed. The management is very good, providing updates about coronavirus and other aspects regularly. My husband suffers from debilitating disease, including dementia. He settled in so quickly and the care and attention he has had is outstanding. The staff are exceptionally polite, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this care centre to anyone looking for the best care for their loved ones.
My uncle was looked after very well and was happy in the home. The staff were very friendly and conscientious. My mind was a rest knowing he was safe and being looked after at all times.
I could not fault the care home or their staff, very satisfied with the care provided. Rooms very adequate for purpose, always clean and tidy. Excellent staff always caring and polite, very knowledgable and informative. A particular nurse went above and beyond for all she has done, keeping us updated on a regular basis.
