The team at Lake View are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and supporting them to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. There are resident ambassadors, who do everything from showing new residents and their families around their home, to providing feedback at residents’ meetings.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from karaoke, pamper sessions and a knit and natter group, to movie afternoons with popcorn in the home’s cinema, trips out into the community, pub lunches and animal visits.

The local community are embraced into life in the home, from school children who take part in activities, to a community choir, musicians and entertainers who regularly perform for the residents. And the home has its own piano for anyone who fancies some spontaneous music!

Lake View has its own a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting weekly, as well as a coffee shop for ‘Tea Tuesdays’ and relaxing with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

The beautiful landscaped gardens have raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways. This summer the residents have loved growing their own fruit and vegetables from seed in the polytunnel, harvesting their produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

Mealtimes are another highlight, with home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. In the dining rooms residents enjoy everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, plus themed menus for special occasions.

The spacious bedrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, with walk-in wet room showers.

Loved ones are embraced into life in the home and are welcome at any time. And there is a private family and friends Facebook page, where they can see what the residents have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

My father was a resident for respite care for just over two weeks. He was made to feel very welcome on arrival and settled quickly. The environment was very clean and pleasant. When I collected Dad I could see he had been treated with kindness and respect throughout his stay. All the staff were lovely.

My dad moved in on the 18th April, the staff are amazing, very friendly, kind and very professional. My dad loves being in Lakeview care home, he is very happy. Very clean and has great food. Thank you everyone at Lakeview for making my dad's life so happy. Myself and my sister are very grateful.

My mother went into Lake View initially for respite care following the death of my father at the end of 2020, during Covid so we were unable to preview the home but it had a good reputation. My mother had dementia which steadily progressed. Our first impressions during visits (once allowed) were mixed.
Sometimes Mum was unkempt and this was a concern. Things did seem to improve in 2023 as staffing seemed to improve/increase but I still feel dementia residents could have been better occupied. At the end of her life, however, care was exemplary and could not have been better.

Mum was accepted into Lakeview.
I and my sister looked around and thought immediately that it was the one for Mum.
Fantastic people work there, both male and female, which I think is so important as it shows diversity.
The people who work there are friendly, approachable, informative, kind, caring
and fun.
My mum's first Christmas was full of care, compassion, fun, activities, love, joy, thoughtfulness and dignity.
The individuals who work at Lakeview are compassionate, lovely characters, passionate, caring, thoughtful, innovative, individual approach and happy.

Currently, my mom is in respite at the Lake View Residential Care Home. She has been thriving since she has been there. They have helped her walk more; she is so much happier and confident - it’s lovely to see.
Always willing to help with questions. Nothing is too much trouble - absolutely outstanding.

Mum arrived at Lake View in February for respite initially, then stayed and has been there ever since. She was not well at first and we feared she would deteriorate, but the home staff have looked after her extremely well. She is now well, happy and settled. The staff not only care for the residents
but enrich their lives with activities and events too. Families are welcomed and also invited to attend events. It is a lovely home and the staff are brilliant.

During the last couple of months, my Mum has had quite a few issues relating to her health, on every occasion the staff have noticed and immediately called for medical assistance (each time an ambulance has been required). The staff have stayed with Mum ensuring she is comfortable and not anxious whilst
waiting for the ambulance to arrive, they have had the correct paperwork and medical notes to hand to give to the paramedics and have also given personal observations to what the health issues are as Mum suffers with dementia and gets confused easily. Since being at Lakeview Mum has deteriorated rapidly with her mental capacity but the carers providing her care try and keep her engaged and encourage her to take part in activities. It is a care home I would very happily recommend. All staff from managers down to the handyman and domestics all respect and engage with all residents, something that not always happen in other homes.

My dad came for a short respite stay at Lake View he really enjoyed the food and said the staff were fantastic. I’m a full-time carer for my dad so finding a home where I could see he was well looked after and happy was my priority. Will definitely be looking to rebook more respite care in the future.

Lakeview looked after Mum for 6 years until her death at the home in October. Throughout her time there she enjoyed days out, numerous activities, great food and above all kindness, compassion and companionship from the brilliant staff. The staff went above and beyond during her final days making a
difficult time as comfortable as possible for our family. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My wife has settled in very well. She has a ground-floor room with a door into the garden. We have sat outside when the weather has been suitable, she likes this.
The premises, including my wife's room, are always very tidy.
Now her meals have been reassessed, she is very happy with her meals and
the choices.

Staff cannot spend enough time "caring" due to the amount of time spent on cradles. The menus sent out by the dietician are not diabetic friendly with options containing carbs for lunch and dinner which is unsafe for a diabetic to consume at every meal.

We invited you and fellow residents to sample our winter menus and recommend any changes which could be made, and our chef is always happy to offer alternative dishes if anybody would like something different to the menu of the day. At the time of this review, Mom's room has suffered a leak/water damage. She has had to move to a temporary room on a different floor. This seems to be managed ok but there is no indication to complete repairs. Generally, Mom is well known and understood by staff who provide excellent care. Staff are
approachable and friendly and efforts to raise funds and provide a range of activities are welcome. The environment is clean, friendly and supportive.

Mum initially went into Lake View for respite care in February 2023 but she has ended up staying there. Mum's dementia means that she doesn't really understand where she is or why she is there, but every time I visit her she seems happy. She has a lovely-sized room that looks out towards the lake and
a nice ensuite bathroom. I was initially quite worried about how she would settle in, but from the very first day, all of the staff have been absolutely brilliant with her and they have put my mind at ease. Whenever I visit, the staff always seem really happy and upbeat, taking part in activities with the residents, singing and dancing with them and treating them with the utmost kindness and compassion. I'm always kept informed about everything to do with Mum and for the first time in nearly three years, I am able to go on holiday without worrying.

Mum came to Lake View the end of March 2023 after having a fall it was impossible for her to return home, since then I can only give full praise to the wonderful care mum has received from all the staff, they keep me updated on a regular basis regarding mum's health and are always easily accessible

Mum has been in Lakeview for approximately two months initially staying for respite and was quite poorly when she arrived. They have worked wonders with her, sorting out her medication and bringing her back to full health. The family will be eternally grateful as we honestly thought she would not pull
through. They are friendly, caring and very thoughtful and mum loves it there. She calls it her home now although there was a time when she said to us that if we ever put her in a care home, she would come back and haunt us! Thank you everyone, mum is back to her old self and very happy.

Mom has been a resident at Lakeview for about 3 year’s the staff are excellent and all her needs are met on a daily basis. Mom has been extremely happy during her time there, and has had no issues. I would recommend Lakeview if you’re looking for a residential home for yourself or a family member.

My name is Dannie and I am the Home Manager at Lake View I am also the Home's Moving and Handling Trainer and a trained Mental Health First Aider. I have worked for Sanctuary for 10 years. My Background has always been working in the care industry from the age of 16 when I started as a domestic assistant.


I love working at Lake View and I have a passion for leading a team that is caring, and kind and will go that extra mile for our amazing residents and their loved ones.
