Clients are not shaved regularly. Personal items always getting lost. Carers give good care but little interaction with clients. Too much paperwork for staff to fill in. Floors regularly smell of urine.

The end of life care my mother has received has been excellent. The staff have been so compassionate and kind far beyond duty. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lake View Residential Care Home for this type of care. After my mother's death (30.8.16) this care was extended to helping me.

Overall we have no problems with the home, they provide brilliant care for my mom. Unfortunately, we have had an incident that my mom was found at the bottom of the stairs resulting in a fractured collar bone and a fracture in her lower back. The staff were absolutely brilliant throughout this incident and I hope management have put new procedures in place to prevent this happening to someone else.

On behalf of all the family I would like you to know our profound appreciation for the way in which you care for my father and your professional approach in making us all so welcome when we visit. I can see my father is settled and happy. He gets the stimulation he needs, the home is light and airy, beautifully decorated and well equipped.

The day my father moved in we all felt anxious and did not know what to expect. Those fears have disappeared. This is down to excellent communication between all professional bodies involved.

Overall Experience

There are some very positive aspects to the home and some staff that take the care of residents very seriously and have an excellent attitude. The care is however not suitable for Alzheimer's patients or respite care as they need time to get to know the patients well and understand their needs and requirements and get into suitable routines. Having sight of and agreeing a comprehensive care plan is in hindsight essential, as internal communications could be improved. For us it was more stressful than having to care for him at home and it took many days for us all to recover from the experience, but that was just our unfortunate experience. It is important to note that there were happy residents there and had it not been for half term in the first week with key staff on leave, I would hope there would have been many activities that he would have enjoyed. Their invoicing system is also unnecessarily distressing but would only be an issue when privately funding.

Thank you for your feedback - and for some lovely comments about our team. I am sorry to hear that you felt our home was unsuitable for respite stay for residents with Alzheimer’s because of the need to spend time to get to know them well.
