The team at Lake View are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and supporting them to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. There are resident ambassadors, who do everything from showing new residents and their families around their home, to providing feedback at residents’ meetings.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from karaoke, pamper sessions and a knit and natter group, to movie afternoons with popcorn in the home’s cinema, trips out into the community, pub lunches and animal visits.

The local community are embraced into life in the home, from school children who take part in activities, to a community choir, musicians and entertainers who regularly perform for the residents. And the home has its own piano for anyone who fancies some spontaneous music!

Lake View has its own a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting weekly, as well as a coffee shop for ‘Tea Tuesdays’ and relaxing with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

The beautiful landscaped gardens have raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways. This summer the residents have loved growing their own fruit and vegetables from seed in the polytunnel, harvesting their produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

Mealtimes are another highlight, with home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. In the dining rooms residents enjoy everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, plus themed menus for special occasions.

The spacious bedrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, with walk-in wet room showers.

Loved ones are embraced into life in the home and are welcome at any time. And there is a private family and friends Facebook page, where they can see what the residents have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

We are very happy with how we have been informed of the progress, she seems happy, settled and a lot more calm so that is wonderful. The food is very good and she is eating well. The home keeps us well informed, I do think that's so important as when people come in it can be so upsetting and this just
gives you peace of mind.

The care home staff at Lakeview have been fantastic and really helpful not only to my dad but also to me and my family. It was a difficult time in the beginning but they stuck with it and helped my dad settle in and is now really settled. The staff keep me and the family up to date with everything from
the well being of my dad and any changes in procedures so we are fully prepared for every visit. Booking times for visit is always easy and done in a friendly manner.
Overall we are really happy with the staff at Lakeview and everything they have done for my dad, you are all fantastic and I have the peace of mind that my dad is in the right place.

I initially chose Lake View because of their understanding and support since I was moving my mother into a care home for the first time and from a different area of the country. There was always someone at the end of the phone to help, advise and reassure us. She moved in during lockdown, but every
effort was made to keep me informed as to how she was settling in and facilitate visits. Her room is clean, comfortable and well-appointed. I have noticed a significant improvement in her well-being and general health. Most importantly, I have found all the staff to be friendly, cheerful and caring towards my mum.

Our mother moved into Lakeview at a time of losing her husband of over sixty years and also at the beginning of the coronavirus lockdowns. The past year has not been easy for everyone, but knowing that Mom is in a safe, clean, well-maintained environment with wonderful staff/carers who have built up
friendships with her and have cared for her every need has made us as a family cope with the visiting restrictions during the lockdowns. Mom settled into life at Lakeview, she especially loves the food and the company of others and has gradually become more involved in the activities on offer. We would definitely recommend Lakeview, can't rate them highly enough.

Now my aunt has settled at Lake View, she clearly feels more secure. The care she receives gives us great confidence in her continued comfort. She particularly enjoys the creative activities and particularly the food! We are very grateful for the care and kindness that the staff show.

My mother was very anxious about being in a care home but was struggling so much so after her last fall we as a family decided it would be best for her to have support. We were a little worried about how she would cope. We were recommended this care home by another family member and we are so happy
with the one we chose. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The communication is brilliant and my mother as improved so much. She looks happier and healthier and we as a family can now relax knowing she is being well cared for would highly recommend.

An excellent care home with caring staff who are doing an excellent job in very trying circumstances. My mother is well cared for and her medical needs are met promptly and with compassion.
Both myself and my brother are more than satisfied with Lake View and are thankful to all the staff who are responsible
for the care of our mother.

My mum has been in the care of Lakeview now for over 3 years. In that time I cannot think of one negative situation. Her care has been first class, all the staff have been so kind and considerate nothing has been too much trouble. I get regular updates since covid came into our lives their main concern
at Lakeview has been the well being the of the residents, staff and family members. Everything put in place has been first class regarding the safety of everyone. I speak to Mum regularly on the phone and can tell how happy she is. I can't thank the staff enough for what they have done for Mum. 10 out of 10. I would highly recommend Lakeview to anyone who is considering moving a loved one into Lakeviews care.

Since I have been here I have been treated with so much respect. I am happy here, the happiest I have ever been. I have made new friends and like going to the activities. I have my budgies here and I'm so happy that I am still able to look after them by myself. The staff are really good to me and they
are more like family.

Since moving into Lake View, my aunty has had a new lease of life. The personal care she receives is second to none. The staff are very thoughtful and caring and spend time getting to know each resident to ensure they deliver the best care they can. Relatives receive regular updates concerning residents
health and wellbeing. Visitors are always met with a warm welcome and informed of upcoming events. My aunty has as much company as she wants - it seems that there is always something happening and has even taken up a couple of new hobbies.

Overall, my family are pleased with the care my mother is receiving from the staff at Lake View. Mum would like more choices of food at lunchtime and salads to be available at tea-time. Unfortunately, sometimes the noise levels from the kitchen and sluice rooms can be quite high, especially at night.

Mom stayed for respite care whilst we were on holiday. I was concerned as she was vulnerable but I need not have worried. She has thrived, made new friends and joined in various activities. The staff are wonderful and really care. She will still visit regularly and join in and the staff are sad to see
her go. I cannot praise Lake View highly enough. It's a wonderful place with wonderful, caring people. Thank you for everything.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.799)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.799) out of 10 for Lake View Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.799 for Lake View Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (301 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.799
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lake View Residential Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
