Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My Nan was admitted into Bowes House in the winter, during the pandemic as she could sadly, no longer live alone, due to her deterioration. The care and compassion that has been shown to my Nan by the care and management team has been amazing. They have provided weekly facetime calls, to enable us to
still interact during these strange times and she is interacting with the activities and is not alone. We know Nan is being looked after by the very caring staff. The buildings and facilities are well maintained and most of all, clean. The staff are so helpful and very supportive, not only to my Nan but also to us, as a family.

My father stayed at Bowes House for a few weeks in October 2020 until he passed away. The staff provided care, compassion and flexibility for him in his last few weeks. They kept us informed of important updates, consulted us about important decisions to do with his health and medication, whilst also
providing suitable advice. I could always find someone to give me information when I rang up to find out how my Father was doing. I particularly wanted to thank a staff worker for his expertise, sensitivity, and understanding. He was prepared to have a frank conversation with my father and his wife about his condition, which was valuable preparation for the end of life. I also wanted to thank the staff worker who was on duty when my father passed away, he was attentive to my father. Thank you.

I live in a retirement complex quite close to Bowes House and have visited in the past as a member of a local church group, and for various open house events in the past. I have always been impressed with the facility. Imagine my surprise when on Valentine's Day I had a knock on the door and was given
a beautifully packaged heart-shaped biscuit donated by Bowes House. It was such a simple, yet profound gesture and the biscuit was absolutely delicious. It says a lot for the manager and staff that they could look beyond their own residents and reach out to the local community. A very big thank you

My mum was a resident in Bowes House from May 19 until she passed away in October this year. She had always said she didn't want to go in a care home, so the decision to move her to Bowes House was not an easy one. With the amazing support and care she received she was settled and happy within 2
weeks, she spent the last months of her life with fulfilled days and happiness.
The buildings and facilities are very well maintained and above all clean. But most importantly for us, she was looked after by the kindest most caring staff, we could not have been happier with the love and kindness they gave mum. This became even more important when Covid hit and they became her family. I would not have any hesitation to recommend this care home and the lovely team that work there, some I know have been there a long time which speaks for its self. If you are looking for a care home you could not do better than Bowes House.

Bowes House staff looked after our mum with the greatest care and love until her death last month. I cannot thank them enough for enriching her life and making her so happy. They were with her at the end as we couldn't be because of Covid but we knew she was in kind and loving hands. Thank you is hardly

The staff at Bowes House have worked hard during the period of lockdown to keep relatives in touch with residents. It has been a lifeline for me to be able to have video calls with my mum twice a week so that we can see each other. Generally, the staff have done an excellent job in keeping residents

I couldn't wish for better care for my mum. All the staff are excellent. During the lockdown the carers have been going the extra mile to make sure the residents still keep to a routine, still doing quizzes etc. They have arranged face to face WhatsApp calls which has been great. I really can't thank
them enough for amazing dedication.

Although this has been a difficult and worrying few months I have taken great comfort in knowing that my mum is being cared for in the best place possible to meet her needs. She has been resident at Bowes House for many years so the staff know all her needs and preferences and I know that their standards
of care is excellent. We have been kept well informed of her progress and had a video call which was very reassuring to see Mum looking so well. As well as local contact with staff from Bowes House, the Company CEO has given regular email updates which have given a calm, considered overview of the challenges at this difficult time.
I cannot thank all the staff at Bowes House enough for looking after Mum so well.

Mum has been in Bowes House for 3 years and specifically during COVID lockdown. I have as with every other relation/visitor been unable to visit but have both been regularly kept up to date with her status by phone conversation/facetime and from the management by letter with overviews of the situation.
The staff have been very welcoming and helpful particularly when the vagaries of modern technology and a distant face can confuse an Alzheimic mind. They have obviously also maintained a very high professional standard in the face of adversity and for that we both warmly thank them and admire their efforts. May Mum's and all the carers' lives return to normality as soon as possible .

Lovely people at Hailsham, the staff do an amazing job. Meadow is not the easiest wing to work in, but the staff are kind, caring and patient, I cannot praise them enough. Over the years, 5 years if memory serves, I have never had to complain about the standard of care and I have had no worries over
the lock-in period that they would take great care of Mum. The senior staff also have always been easy to deal with and do a good job.

When describing Bowes House I always say its like a 5* hotel. We are so very happy with the care facilities at the home. It is a great relief to us knowing that Dad is in such safe, caring hands which before coming to Bowes House this was a constant worry for us. We know now that we made the right decision

June was a very difficult month, not only for the staff but also for residents and their families. Bowes House staff have always been ready to answer queries and although visiting was not allowed, they welcomed people to speak to loved ones via FaceTime. They really could not have been more accommodating
even if, at times, it was difficult to get through to the units because of the pure volume of calls.

I’m passionate about my role and the home.


I like to see lots of smiles and interaction with staff and residents. A good working day for me is to know that I have given my all to my team and to residents, knowing that they have all had a good day and that the care they’ve received has been the best.


Before joining, I’d worked in independent care homes for ten years. I wanted to stay in the care sector while developing my skills and career. Care UK really helps you to progress.


I think my proudest moments at Care UK were being nominated for the Team Leader of the Year award in the Care UK Residential Care Services Awards, and then being promoted to my current role.
