Opened in 2013, this welcoming home is located on Windsor Street, an attractive residential road in north Cheltenham. Windsor Street Care Centre offers residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for up to 81 residents in modern, friendly and comfortable households with a beautiful garden and balcony space to enjoy.

To give you the support when you need it, a friendly, professionally trained team is on hand around the clock to support you, so that you can continue to enjoy a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

This modern home has been designed with your comfort and wellbeing in mind. Relax in one of the cosy lounges, take advantage of the secure terraces on sunny days, or join in one of the social activities taking place daily. If you'd like a little more privacy, then your own spacious bed-sitting room, with en-suite shower facilities, offers a peaceful haven. The home also offers physiotherapy at an additional cost.

There is full programme of different activities and events organised by the Activity Co-ordinators around each person's requests, hobbies and interests.

physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

I cannot fault the carers. They go beyond their duties on many occasions, especially during the pandemic where they have to do hairdressing and nails of residents as well as prepare and serve three meals a day, wash up and personal care for each resident, some needing two carers to hoist them; my mother
being one of them. I feel most strongly that carers are so busy, they do not have time to sit and talk to residents. It's disgraceful that carers are on minimum wage when non-trained cleaners can charge £15 an hour.

My mother was discharged to Windsor Street Care Centre from hospital. Although I had been my mother's carer for five years, my older brother was put down as her next of kin, and they dealt only with him. I went to the care home yesterday and begged them to let me see my mother. I'd spoken to her on
Skype and could see she was failing. Due to covid, they refused to let me in - pleasantly, but firmly, despite 20 minutes of pleading. They told me she wasn't at "end of life".
At 9 am this morning, they called to tell me she'd passed away. My mother had dementia. She died thinking I couldn't be bothered to visit her. I was allowed to see her today. I am devastated that my mother died believing I didn't love her enough to visit her. This is something I will have to live with for the rest of my life. The carers who laid my mother out were lovely and allowed me to stay while they got her ready, but the management should have listened to my concerns.

I would like to thank Windsor Street for the excellent care my mother received during her 5 years as a resident, with steadily increasing dementia. Residents are treated with respect and affection, and relatives are welcomed and supported. The carers are a wonderful team whose patience and professionalism
are so impressive for such a demanding job. The admin, domestic and catering staff are always helpful and there is excellent GP backup. Dementia is not an easy road for sufferers or families, but Windsor Street does its best to make it easier, and it comes across as a happy place.

Windsor Street Care Centre is a modern warm and welcoming home with staff who patently carte for the wellbeing of the residents as well as understanding the pressures on their families and responsibilities towards the family members of the resident. Staff always act in a professional manner and turnover
is hardly noticeable which adds to the settled environment for the resident at a difficult stage in their life.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly and provided my husband with excellent care during the last three weeks of his life.
He was admitted at very short notice straight from the hospital, but nothing was too much trouble. It was like home from home, and I would recommend this Care Centre to anyone.

I can't praise this care home highly enough. Without exception, the staff wanted to work there, they looked after my wife better than I ever could have in her last weeks. I remember this care home being built- a custom-built care home with 'all mod cons'. It didn't take long for my wife to transfer
her allegiance from me to the carers.

The staff at Windsor Street are brilliant; kind, patient and gentle with residents. They work really hard but always make time for individual needs. The activities co-ordinators ensure that there is plenty going on and the activities are well thought out. Musical entertainment is very popular with the
residents; also the various creative activities such as painting and collage.

I visit regularly and see many of the activities taking place here. The residents are catered for in many ways keeping them active, both in body and mind. The care and welfare of the residents is paramount. There is a very happy welcoming atmosphere.

My mother was admitted for two weeks respite care (which became three weeks of care). She received excellent care so that her condition was greatly alleviated and she regained her strength. They really did do their best for her and that was a remarkable achievement in such a short time. The staff were
always cheerful and friendly, kind, courteous and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, both for residents and their visitors. My mother was not the easiest of people but the nurses were infinitely patient and caring, taking time to fully explain.
I can't thank them enough.

My first impression of Windsor Street was that it is a friendly and homely environment.
The level of care for residents is so genuine and sincere and the dignity towards them is paramount.
As a relative, it is a 'fun' place to come and visit and always a lot going on.

My wife has been at Windsor Street for 5 years. Overall the care has been good - care staff quality is excellent but shortages occur, I recognise that is generally so nationally.


As a self-financer, the payment of high fees is problematic, particularly as a significant proportion goes to subsidise

underfunded social services. The total lack of financial support by the government is scandalous.

My mother arrived at Windsor Street at short notice and at a crisis point. She remained there longer than expected as the care got her through that crisis and for 5 weeks I was able to feel confident that she was safe. All the staff were kind, caring and supportive and I was able to be with my mother
at her peaceful end. I could not have wished for better.

My mother has been a resident since September 2018. I had struggled with her having to go into permanent care but I need not have worried. The care she has received has been nothing short of exemplary. Each member of staff has treated her with kindness, respect and dignity. She has been treated with
great patience and never as if she is a nuisance. Although she has advanced dementia, she is respected as a person and member of her little community. I couldn’t have wished for better care for her.


The standard of cleanliness is a credit to the domestic staff and the quality of food is also very good.

In Dec 2016 my step-mother became a resident and she was regularly visited by me, my father and friends. In Nov 2018 my father became a resident due to health changes, but fortunately, he is familiar with the care centre. Both are in safe hands and receiving excellent care.
All the carers and staff
show compassion, respect, dignity and are familiar with their backgrounds so treat them as individuals. They welcome all visitors and keep me fully informed on the well-being of my parents.
Their medical, dietary, emotional needs are met. A dedicated Doctor visits weekly as well as ad-hoc when required.
Dementia trained staff and Admiral Nurses are always available to answer any questions and concerns.
A regular and varied activity program, including 1-1, group and trips, is successfully run by the Activities team.
All this is managed by the General Manager and her team who I want to thank all for their care, professionalism and dedication.

The care extended to both of my parents whilst at Windsor Street has been excellent. Although bed bound for the past two and a half years, my mother does not suffer from bed sores at all and her skin is beautifully pink and soft (better than mine!). My father's care too has been excellent, particularly
in the past few weeks when he has been declared at end of life stage. Attending the resident/relative meetings really gives you a proper feel for all that goes on in the home and how hard the staff work to motivate/entertain and re-assure patients. It was undoubtedly the very best choice for my parents and probably the best facility in Cheltenham.

Beata

Beata Beevor

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2019

Bea has been an Activity Coordinator at OSJCT since November 2019 and at Windsor Street since September 2022. She is passionate about her role, brings a person-centred approach to her work, and ensures that residents actively participate in community activities. She is also the Dementia and End of Life Champion at Windsor Street Care Centre, focusing on fostering independence among residents.


Her qualifications include being a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, holding a Diploma in Care RQF - Adult Care - Activity Coordinator path, and achieving Principles of End-of-Life Care Level 2 and Level 3. Bea has also completed courses in Grief and Bereavement Counselling Diploma and Dementia Care Level 2. Beyond her professional commitments, Bea leads a Bereavement Cafe and an End-of-Life Cafe, connecting Windsor Street with the Cornerstone Centre Community Hub.


In her free time, Bea finds joy in regular seaside visits with her husband and dog Olav, indulging in her passion for body boarding, especially during the winter months.
