My aunt has been a resident at Ritson Lodge since last August and at every visit, I have found the home to be spotlessly clean and welcoming. The staff seem to go above and beyond for my aunt and show her genuine care. Family and friends are always welcome and yesterday we enjoyed joining everyone for
their 10th birthday celebrations. Well done to two members of staff in particular, it was lovely to see everyone happy and joining in with a sing-a-long and a little dance!
Reply from Siobhan fennell, General Manager at Barchester Ritson LodgeThank you for your feedback I was very disappointed to have missed the day but my staff loved making a fuss of everyone. We hope you join us again soon. I will let our staff know especially those two. Thank you.

My mother was moved to Ritson Lodge for respite and recovery before returning to her home from the hospital.
The home is second to none. Light, airy and modern with large well-furnished bedrooms and ensuites, it's very welcoming. The staff are all lovely, helpful and very respectable towards all the
residents. Very good activities which all are encouraged to take part in. Very clean and hygienic and has great facilities.
Reply from Siobhan fennell, General Manager at Barchester Ritson LodgeThank you so much, we are so glad we could help in your mum's recovery. Don't forget to pop in for our events and visit us from time to time.

My mum has been a resident here for six weeks. When Mum arrived at this superb home, things had been really tough, Mum and the family had been really struggling. From the very first day, Mum experienced levels of care and support that she had never received before. The care, support, humour, companionship
and overall holistic well-being support have turned my mum's life around. In terms of the wider family, every single carer has been generous and heartfelt, genuinely caring for the support network around my mum, appreciating the journey we have been on and the guarantee of being there for all of whatever the future holds.
The carers, chefs and managers are exceptional, going above and beyond every day to ensure that my mum receives the love and support she deserves. I have witnessed the care and attention given to other residents during my visits and it is consistent and of an exceptional standard.
Reply from Siobhan fennell, General Manager at Barchester Ritson LodgeThank you so much for your feedback, we are so glad Mum has decided to stay with us and we love her bubbly personality.
It's nice to see how she has thrived at Ritson.

The premises are bright, modern and clean. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. I was able to arrange a room at short notice and the management made it as simple as possible at what was a difficult time. I cannot fault the care my father received, the carers were kind, compassionate and loving.
My father did not enjoy the food but I found it adequate.

Ritson Lodge is fantastic in every way. The staff are excellent, very helpful and caring. Go out of their way to make residents feel at home. So many different activities they are encouraged to take part in. Looked after my brother very well until he passed away last year. The home is always spotless.
The chef's homemade cakes and biscuits are so delicious!

My daughter came to Ritson Lodge at end of November for respite care whilst a permanent placement could be found. Fortunately, she is still here, absolutely loving living here and cared for by a wonderful team of staff, whatever their job role they are friendly, caring and willing to ensure a high standard
of care is delivered. Can't thank enough them all for the care they give. Clean, tidy and spacious room and communal areas. Meals are appetising and very much enjoyed by my daughter.
Reply from Siobhan Fennell, General Manager at Barchester Ritson LodgeThank you so much for this amazing feedback and great review about our home, the care our team provides, the cleanliness and the food we serve. The staff of Ritson Lodge are very friendly and dedicated. Whenever you go to visit or call they are very polite and helpful. The staff go above their job to make sure the residents are happy and have everything they require. When our uncle passed away, the staff made sure our aunt was told with people
around her who sat with her until members of the family could get to her. Nothing seems to be any trouble. The whole place is immaculate.

After moving my dad from a previous care home in London to somewhere more local after relocating myself, I can only say that the family and I made the best choice with Ritson Lodge. We viewed a few care homes prior to choosing but can honestly say the warm welcome that we received on viewing has been
extended to his stay and not just 'for show'. The staff are amazing, always very helpful, cheerful and encouraging. Pleased to say that dad is thriving in his new environment. Very happy.

From the first enquiry until now the staff have been extremely accommodating to help us as a family to get my parent moved and settled in. Management friendly, efficient and good communicator. In the time my relative was there, COVID restrictions were well adhered to. One felt confident in the whole staff. 24/7 care is appreciated.
Food is rated excellent. All nursing and medical needs are well met. Any incidents, such as a fall or any
other worries, are reported promptly.

My aunt and uncle both came to Ritson Lodge when they could no longer manage at home with visiting carers. From first contact, the staff from the top down have shown themselves to be very professional, but also are the most caring team, doing a difficult job extremely well. An example of this is the
way that an off-duty nurse came into work to see my uncle and how he was doing on two occasions. A lovely, hardworking team.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.740)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.740) out of 10 for Barchester Ritson Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.815 for Barchester Ritson Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (170 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.815
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Ritson Lodge is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
