My mother was in need of physical support and made her own decision to move in. After an initial settling in period, she has really loved everything about Hartwood. The staff have been amazing and made her feel very much at home. It is equally apparent that mum has integrated smoothly and befriended many of the residents who need mental support, offering her own empathy to help. I have nothing but praise for Hartwood, as a whole.
Thanks, Dave for your lovely review. We love having Mum and all of you as part of our Hartwood Family. Mum has quickly become a popular lady with the other residents and a real social butterfly which is lovely to see.
Mum enjoys participating in all of the activities and the care she receives there by all the staff is absolutely fantastic whether they are the care team or admin team. They all go out of their way to make sure that all her needs are catered for and nothing is ever too much trouble. Mum initially went to Hartwood on a trial basis before she made up her mind to make this move permanent. She previously lived on her own, where she felt isolated and lonely, particularly with the current Covid situation. She has been a different person since being at Hartwood and is really enjoying life again. Mum says the home-cooked food is lovely and she enjoys having a menu choice. The difference this move has made to her is amazing and she loves it. I no longer need to worry about her being on her own as I know she is safe and being well cared for and I am able to have regular contact with her knowing she is being well looked after. Thank you to all the team there, you are all outstanding an amazing.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is a joy to have you all as part of our Hartwood Family. Mum has settled in really well and it is a pleasure to have her living here.
It is a lovely place. The food is very good. The staff are lovely but I do miss my family.
Thank you very much for your kind review. We love having you with us and glad you are enjoying our yummy home cooked food.
Hartwood House is excellent in every way, and they take great care of my dear mum. My confidence in their honesty has, however, been undermined by the COVID pandemic. They were not honest with me over the phone when I enquired. I felt 'fobbed' off. I was horrified to discover some residents had died of COVID when all the time I was told all was ok. As the next of kin and a nurse myself, I expect to be told the truth.
Thank you for your lovely review – we are so pleased to hear that you think that Hartwood House is excellent in every way and that you feel we give great care to your Mum. Your words mean a lot to us, and not just because of your nursing background. Lockdown was a tough time for everyone...
My mum has been a resident at Hartwood on a permanent basis for a year now. Mum has settled extremely well. She is kept busy with a variety of activities. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. Also the staff and residents are always smiling. The management is great with communication and we are always kept up to date with Mum’s health and well-being. We are always welcome despite the constraints of the pandemic and the visits are organised very well. Also Mum and I have had Zoom calls organised by staff and that has been fantastic. Over the year (Aug 19 - Feb 20) we have participated in events organised for staff and residents. Mum is very content and well cared for and that gives me peace of mind. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this lovely review Dawn. We are so glad you chose Hartwood House for Mum and becoming part of our family.
My mother has deteriorating dementia but lives in the moment. She is happy and safe, particularly during these difficult times of lockdown. We cannot fault the staff in the care and attention provided where we, as the family, could not. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for being part of our Hartwood Family. So glad Mum has settled in so well and made some lovely friends.
The care provided was exceptional, not just to Mum but to me and other members of the family. It is a truly caring place where staff and residents enjoy life to the maximum possible. The home has very successfully negotiated the awful stresses and strains of the current situation with the pandemic. It always had sufficient quantities of PPE, food supplies, cleaning materials and staff. There was put in place a comprehensive support package for staff to ensure their welfare. The residents are treated as individuals and with respect. There is a wide variety of activity available. We always have had regular contact with the staff and family members. The option of video calls introduced in April to 'see and chat' with residents. Social distanced visits in the garden were put in place as soon as regulations allowed. The staff work as a team and the mix of residents help the home have a really good atmosphere. If I need a care home in later years I would book myself in.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. Please keep in touch, we miss you both lots.
Hartwood has managed the COVID pandemic well. Although my husband was moved to another floor as part of the home’s COVID-19 management strategies, he is still being supported by familiar faces day to day and appears not to have been affected by this change. The video linkups myself and extended family are able to have with my husband, coupled with risk assessed face to face visits have further helped us as a family stay connected.
Thank you Rosemary for your kind review. We are pleased to hear how your husband enjoys the familiar faces he sees and that you feel able to give constructive feedback to the team and they action this well. We love having you as part of our Hartwood family.
Throughout the lockdown period Mum has said "I'm definitely in the best place that I could be". All of the staff at Hartwood have kept Mum comfortable, safe, and happy. We have enjoyed twice-weekly video calls and weekly visits in the garden. The home have also been very creative in continuing to provide activities and entertainment in a COVID safe way. Both Mum and I were kept up-to-date with the home's protocols for keeping COVID safe. The usual high standards of care, housekeeping and catering have been maintained during these surreal times. It was very comforting for me to know that Mum was happy and so well cared for. I cannot thank the staff at Hartwood House enough for the care they have given for the 6 years that Mum has been a resident.
Thank you for your kind review. I’m so glad both yourself and Mum have felt reassured and safe during these difficult times. Six years. We are grateful for every single day you have been a part of our Hartwood Family.
The response of Hartwood to the Covid-19 situation has been excellent and the staff were quick to organise Zoom/Skype sessions for residents and their families, followed by garden-based visits once the regulations allowed this to happen.
For relatives thinking about a placement, I would strongly recommend placing Hartwood House on any shortlist.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Chris, this is much appreciated. We love having you all as part of our Hartwood House family.
So thank you to the manager and your team for everything you did for her and the support you gave to us, her family. We will never forget your kindness.
Thank you for your review, we were delighted to care for your Mum and she will be missed very much.
This was soon proven correct, the managers and staff are very kind, caring and friendly amongst themselves, which reflects well on us. Entertainment is good and varied, food is varied and well prepared, gardens are well kept. Decor is pleasing, comfortable and bright, and kept very clean.
We are both happy to be residents.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We love having you both with us.
My mum has been at Hartwood House Care Home for nearly three years. She is better now than before she went in. They really look after resident and family and friends.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We love having all of you as part of our Hartwood House family.
Hartwood House is a pleasure to visit. All the residents are well looked after and always look happy and well cared for.
Thank you, we always enjoy your visits and look forward to seeing you soon.
The first use of a care home so difficult to judge against others. Still very positive. The only issue was the night staff and no speed of reactions when called. All else very satisfactory.
Thank you Hilly. Hope to see you again soon.
My husband and I spent three weeks at Hartwood House whilst I recovered from a bad fall. The nurses and carers were outstanding and created a happy atmosphere, which contributed to my recovery.
Thank you for your review and glad you are doing so much better. Hope to see you again soon.
The surroundings and garden are just like a home environment.
Entertainment is available to residents twice daily should they wish.
Overall, a calm and happy place where residents are safe, secure and treated with dignity.
Such a lovely review thank you so much. We love having you all as part of our Hartwood Family.
Throughout my stay at Hartwood House, I was treated with care and consideration. The staff were excellent, treating residents with a degree of kindness, patience, and professional competence that can only be admired - even in circumstances that were sometimes quite difficult.
Thank you very much. We really enjoyed having you stay with us and really hope you will keep in touch and come visit us again soon.
I have found that Hartwood House provides a good service of care and I have been happy with the caring staff and the level of care my husband has received.
On every occasion that I have visited, I have found all the staff to be welcoming, smiley and approachable. The house itself is charming, very light and airy, with modern furnishings, and not at all redolent of an old person’s home! I know that the friend I visit is very happy there and admires the staff for their friendly care and hard work.
Thank you for your lovely review. Very kind of you.

Meet the Team (6)

What I do - I am excited to lead a renowned and award-winning team. Our dedicated staff strive to deliver outstanding care to our residents, their families, and friends of Hartwood House. We are a luxury care home nestled in the heart of the New Forest, offering exceptional care in a truly homely setting. We believe outstanding care is built on trust, kindness and genuine relationships, and we take great pride in creating a place where residents feel safe, valued and truly at home.
My Experience – With extensive experience in elderly care, dementia support, and team leadership, I have successfully managed and improved multiple care settings. I thrive on building strong teams, implementing innovative healthcare systems, and driving meaningful improvements in service quality.
About Me - Beyond my professional life, I love spending time with my family and exploring my interests in psychology, arts, photography, and beauty. Balancing my career and personal passions keeps me motivated and inspired every day.

As Deputy Manager at Hartwood House, I help lead the day-to-day operations of the home, working alongside residents, their loved ones, and our dedicated team to create a warm, supportive, and caring environment. I am committed to ensuring that every resident receives high-quality, individualised care that promotes independence, wellbeing, and dignity.
My role includes supporting and developing staff, monitoring the quality of care provided, and helping to maintain the highest standards across the home. By fostering a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork, I strive to ensure that Hartwood House remains a place where residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.
My ExperienceI began my professional career working for a global investment bank, where I developed strong organisational, leadership, and people management skills. After having my two boys, I took the opportunity to reflect on what I truly wanted from my career and decided it was the right time to pursue my long-standing passion for working in care.
I started my journey in the care sector as a Care Assistant, gaining invaluable hands-on experience supporting residents and their families. Driven by a desire to make a positive difference, I progressed into a Care Coordinator role before being promoted to Deputy Manager. Each step of my career has strengthened my commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting teams to provide the best possible experience for those we care for.
About MeI am incredibly proud to be a mum to my two wonderful sons, who are at the heart of everything I do. Family is very important to me, and I love spending quality time with them whenever I can.
Outside of work, my greatest passion is travelling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. In fact, I almost always have my next holiday planned, as having something exciting to look forward to is something I really enjoy. Travelling helps me recharge, gain new perspectives, and bring positivity and enthusiasm into both my personal and professional life.

My role here at Hartwood House is to provide support to anyone enquiring about moving into care and the options that are available to them. As Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House, no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what I love about my role. From welcoming families for their first visit, to guiding them through the enquiry process and helping them make informed decisions, I am here to ensure every interaction feels personal, supportive and reassuring.
My Experience:With five years’ experience in the care sector, I truly feel I have found my calling. Supporting families at what can often be an emotional and uncertain time is something I consider both a responsibility and a privilege.
Before moving into care, I worked in hospitality, where I developed a genuine passion for working with people and delivering exceptional service. That background has shaped my approach — I believe families should feel listened to, valued and completely at ease from their very first conversation with us.
For me, this role is about more than admissions; it’s about building trust, creating relationships and helping families feel confident that Hartwood House is the right place for their loved one.

As an Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator at Hartwood House, I am passionate about creating a vibrant, engaging, and person-centred environment for residents. My role focuses on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
I design and deliver a diverse programme tailored to individual interests, abilities, and life histories—ranging from creative arts and gentle exercise to social events and community connections. I believe that every moment matters, and I strive to ensure each resident feels valued and included.
My Experience:I began my career in care shortly after finishing my education, starting as a Care Assistant. In this role, I discovered a passion for engaging residents beyond their daily care, particularly through activities that brought enjoyment, connection, and purpose to their day.
I began supporting the Activities Lead and quickly grew in confidence and creativity, learning how to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging programmes tailored to individual needs and interests. This experience led me to progress into the role of Activities Lead myself.
Now, I combine my care background with my passion for wellbeing to create meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life, ensuring everyone feels valued, included, and supported.
About Me:I spend most of my time out with my Friends, they are such a huge part of my life. I enjoy meeting everyone at the local pub on a Friday; this has been a tradition for many years. I have 2 beautiful cats that I adore. I absolutely love animals; I find them to be so therapeutic.

I ensure we prepare, cook, and consistently serve delicious, nutritionally balanced food here at Hartwood House using fresh, seasonal ingredients. I’ve continued to enjoy my position for the past two and a half years, and I love working here. What keeps me keen is sharing my love for food, as I understand the importance of our residents and staff to enjoy great meals!
My experience;I have now been a Chef for over fifteen years, working in most industries from private, fine dining to large corporate contracts, gastro pubs and outside catering environments. In 2016, I was proud to be nominated and included in the top five for food in the Care Sector Awards. I also have an NVQ Level 3 advanced apprenticeship in professional cookery.
About me;I love food, enjoy playing football and listening to music. My little boy keeps me busy, and my wife runs her own baby swimming business. I often take our son along to her classes.

As Maintenance Manager at Hartwood House Care Home, I am responsible for ensuring the building, facilities, and equipment are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times. I carry out regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to create a comfortable and secure environment for both residents and staff.
My role includes overseeing health and safety compliance, managing contractors, maintaining records, and responding promptly to any maintenance issues. I also support the wider team by ensuring all systems—from heating and lighting to safety equipment—are functioning efficiently.
Above all, I take pride in helping provide a safe, homely, and welcoming environment where residents can feel comfortable and cared for every day.
My Experience:I bring over 30 years of engineering experience from my time with BT, where I was based at Heathrow Airport. In this role, I was responsible for maintaining and supporting communication systems and cabling infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient service in a high-demand environment.
After relocating further south, I transitioned into the care sector, joining our sister home, Mornington Court, as a Maintenance Assistant. This role allowed me to apply my technical skills in a new setting, focusing on creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
I then moved to Hartwood House Care Home, where I now work as Maintenance Manager. In this role, I continue to build on my experience, overseeing all aspects of maintenance and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
About Me:Outside of work, I’m a big sports enthusiast, with a real passion for golf—any chance I get, I’ll be out on the course. I also enjoy playing snooker in my spare time.
I’m a dedicated football fan and hold a season ticket with Fulham Football Club, rarely missing a game and always supporting the team.
