Castlecroft is a special place, where the team, residents and their loved ones work together to create a happy home that feels like an extended family.

There are resident ambassadors, who have active roles to play in how the home is run, from helping to interview potential staff, to providing residents’ feedback.

The team are passionate about enriching their residents’ lives, supporting them to do the things that bring them joy, giving them a sense of continuity and purpose. One resident is a fitness enthusiast, so the team created a gym for him, with his own equipment and some new additions.

Relatives are embraced into life at Castlecroft, and many are volunteering there. For example, several relatives created a vegetable patch with the residents, while others run singing sessions. There is also a private family and friends Facebook page.

Many residents love animals, so every week a member of the team brings in her family dog for them.

All the staff are actively involved in activities. Staff buddy residents who share the same interests, so activities are even more meaningful. For example, the maintenance operative discovered one of the residents shares his love of playing pool, so takes time to join him for games in home’s bar.

A group of male residents were chatting about how they loved cooking, so the ‘curry club’ was created. They go shopping with the team for the ingredients to make their own curries.

The home itself is beautiful, with spacious ensuite bedrooms, lounge areas and quiet spaces. There are landscaped gardens, where the residents enjoy growing their own produce, which they harvest for the chef to use in the kitchen. And mealtimes are a real highlight, with delicious home-cooked meals every day.

My husband has been in Castlecroft Residential Care Home for nearly two years now, I have no worries at all about his care. The staff are kind and thoughtful, not just for the resident but for the relatives as well. The home is spotless, the residents look happy and well cared for.

My experience with Castlecroft Residential Care Home, especially over the last few months has been amazing, my dad was classed as end-of-life by his GP. He spent three weeks in his bed with us by his side daily and the staff were amazing, especially one member of staff who cared about our feelings too
and the manager, they looked after Dad so well, he's still with us and is back eating and drinking. God bless them all.

I never thought Mom would settle at Castlecroft Residential Care Home or in any care home but she has really blossomed there now. She would initially ask when she was going home and didn't really want to do anything. But now, she joins in with most activities (there are lots!) and we love seeing the
pictures of her in the family WhatsApp chat, playing games, laughing and chatting with other residents, getting her nails done and much more. Instead of asking about going home, after we've been there a while, she will tell us "my friend's waiting for me" or that we should probably think about getting home! She just wants to get back to chatting with the friends she has made there. It's so good to see her enjoying herself and looking so much brighter. We're really pleased we chose Castlecroft, the staff look after Mom really well and she is really enjoying having lots of company. She is eating really well there too, even things she would never eat before!

Care shown by the dedicated staff is amazing.
It is very difficult trusting a loved one into the care of someone else but the staff are like family, nothing is too much trouble.
Daily activities are arranged giving residents plenty to look forward to.

Mum was a resident at Castlecroft for eighteen months, all through Covid lockdown care home staff were all brilliant. They go over and above to help everyone settle. They have been marvellous. Mum sadly needed end of life care but everyone was amazing, her 100th birthday was spent at Castlecroft and
the staff made it very special for her during very difficult times. So grateful we found Castlecroft. I would not hesitate to recommend.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Castlecroft Residential Care Home for the amazing last six years that our aunty has lived with them, we have been left with some very happy memories, particularly from her wonderful stories and never ending stream of celebrity visitors.
You are the epitome
of a care home where residents don’t come to you to see out their days, it is to live life to the fullest and you certainly make everyday enjoyable both for the residents and for the families, who get to join in, either in person or via WhatsApp.
The last fifteen months have been really difficult for everyone, but you have overcome all of the challenges without it having too much impact on the residents everyday living!
Again, thank you! The care given to our aunty in her final hours was amazing and we are so thankful that she was able to spend them at home with her adopted family.

Mom went into Castlecroft last year, amid the start of the pandemic and lockdown. I was genuinely in turmoil when told Mom would have to go into a home for her own safety and due to her deteriorating health. Due to my location and Covid, I had no choice but to accept social services recommendation;
I'm so glad I did. The staff at Castlecroft are the real stars and were welcoming from the beginning even through difficult circumstances. Mom is engaged and happy, and I feel even though she wanted to stay independent for as long as possible, she is now in a place she loves and is cared for to a level that just wasn't possible previously. The addition of monthly updates and WhatsApp group from staff is great and shows how much work and devotion they put in on a personal level. Finally, I want to say a big thank you to every member of staff at Castlecroft who kept all our loved ones safe during the last twelve plus months, they really have gone the extra mile.

Mum was admitted in mid-December 2020. It was such a heartbreaking decision as we had been looking after her with 24hour care in her own home and couldn’t even visit to settle her in.
The care received by mum has been exceptional. Mums words “you couldn’t have found a better place for me, it’s top
hole, the staff are so kind, no one ever loses their temper, please make sure I can stay here”
As an ex-social worker and senior manager in social services, I can say from long experience that Castlecroft is the best run home with the best staff I have ever encountered. A fantastically caring and capable manager leads a great group of staff who really genuinely care. We have never had a moments concern since mum was admitted. Her health and mobility have improved, she now joins in games and crafts so her dexterity is better. The staff at Castlecroft are full of energy in coming up with new activities, the place is full of optimism and fun.
Mum and I cannot recommend highly enough.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.885)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.885) out of 10 for Castlecroft Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.885 for Castlecroft Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (342 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 382 Ratings = 4.885
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castlecroft Residential Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
