Castlecroft is a special place, where the team, residents and their loved ones work together to create a happy home that feels like an extended family.

There are resident ambassadors, who have active roles to play in how the home is run, from helping to interview potential staff, to providing residents’ feedback.

The team are passionate about enriching their residents’ lives, supporting them to do the things that bring them joy, giving them a sense of continuity and purpose. One resident is a fitness enthusiast, so the team created a gym for him, with his own equipment and some new additions.

Relatives are embraced into life at Castlecroft, and many are volunteering there. For example, several relatives created a vegetable patch with the residents, while others run singing sessions. There is also a private family and friends Facebook page.

Many residents love animals, so every week a member of the team brings in her family dog for them.

All the staff are actively involved in activities. Staff buddy residents who share the same interests, so activities are even more meaningful. For example, the maintenance operative discovered one of the residents shares his love of playing pool, so takes time to join him for games in home’s bar.

A group of male residents were chatting about how they loved cooking, so the ‘curry club’ was created. They go shopping with the team for the ingredients to make their own curries.

The home itself is beautiful, with spacious ensuite bedrooms, lounge areas and quiet spaces. There are landscaped gardens, where the residents enjoy growing their own produce, which they harvest for the chef to use in the kitchen. And mealtimes are a real highlight, with delicious home-cooked meals every day.

The energy, friendliness and attentiveness are the best compared to many care homes that I have had experience of. There is always a smile and a greeting. The staff get to know the residents very well so can identify problems through non-verbal cues which is vital when the resident has problems with
communication. All residents are given respect and dignity and are encouraged to participate in the very many activities which may be appropriate for them. I am so pleased that my grandmother has found such a happy home with them. It is truly a weight off my mind, knowing she is well cared for, especially as I am so far away and can only visit once or twice a week.

My uncle entered the home in June 2014 after being diagnosed with dementia. He was also an amputee (minus one leg), the love and care he received from all of the staff were exceptional, especially in some of his darker moments. Although we visited him fairly regularly we were kept informed with phone
calls of any changes or incidents, and he had a few. The home itself is fairly modern (opened in 2013) and kept clean and decorative with a pleasant fragrant (non-chemical) atmosphere. A specialist activity member of staff arranges trips, entertainment and activities for the three specialist floors (care - 24-hour care - dementia). When we visited the home we felt we were part of a big happy family, always being given a welcome and a report on my Uncles wellbeing and activities. The final endorsement was at my uncles funeral last week when seven of the carers attended his funeral that was ten miles from the home. They still had love and care to give.

My mother spent 18 months at Castlecroft Residential Care Home. An excellent choice mum or I couldn't have asked for more care and attention. In fact, before her dementia got really awful she often said how much she loves being there.
We believe we couldn't have found a better home for home.

Mum went into Castlecroft for respite care. The care is fantastic and the manager is professional which reassures us leaving mum under their care.
This is now our choice of a permanent care home for mum if all goes well.

The review was conducted in a friendly and informal manner. Every aspect of Mom's health, care and welfare was discussed in detail. Comments that were brought forward were duly noted and written down. It was a very good and informative meeting - well done.

My father was placed in emergency care following the sudden death of my mother and in the 2 months it took to return him to Birmingham, he deteriorated rapidly. After 6 weeks ar Castelcroft, he is himself again. I simply could not recommend them highly enough. Literarily fantastic in every area.

When we realised that my 90-year-old mother was no longer able to look after herself in a warden controlled housing complex we started a search for a care home. Having reviewed and visited a number it was apparent that Castle Croft was perfect for mom's needs. This was two years ago and I can honestly
state that it was the best decision we have made.
The level of care and the genuine nature of that care has been magnificent. The management and staff have been so kind to mom that it has eased any worries that we might have had as we live 2 hours away.
Mom always said that she was really happy at Castle Croft.
When the end finally came the staff were wonderful, even attending mom's funeral.
We had been so impressed with castle croft that we were happy to hold mom's wake there also - which brings up the subject of the food - I've seen worse in hotels!! The chef produced all the food for the wake and it was brilliant.
Can't say enough for the manager and her staff

My nan came to stay in May 2016 as she was unable to care for herself.
It gave us great comfort when we came to visit, that it was plain to see that nan was receiving great care, she was happy, active, full of tails of news friend and activities,


In May 2017 nan received the dreadful news that

she had terminal cancer, this is where the staff at Castlecroft really came into there own, the end of life care and love that was shown to my nan over the last few months of her life, leave me speechless, words are just not enough.
I spent the last few days with her, and in that time the staff not only cared for nan but cared for me also nothing was to much trouble.
To see the staff interacting with nan was very humbling and touching.
When nan passed I was with her, the staff or really I should refer to them as friends because that's what they had become to her, came in and said their goodbyes, they were so respectful.

My aunt spent her final days at Castlecroft Care Home and the level of care was exemplary. She was cared for like a member of the family with highly caring staff, excellent conditions and a lovely environment.
We held the wake at the care home and we were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy.
And the catering was excellent.
The families thanks all at Castlecroft for making my aunts last days so peaceful.

Since my mom has moved onto the second floor for advanced dementia, she and I found it hard at first but she has settled and is quite happy. Staff are helpful and courteous at all times and certain staff go above and beyond their daily care duties towards all residents.
Castlecroft is a warm, friendly,
welcoming care home at all levels and myself and my partner are constantly supported through this very sad journey with Mom.
She may not know who I am on many of my visits but I know she is safe, warm, looked after and cared for.

My mother moved into Castlecroft Residential Care Home when it just opened and my daughter was working there. We have recommended the home to many people of which some have referred their relatives and have been very happy with the home. The home is excellent including the food and staff. Everything
is just amazing. My mother has been very happy there. Unfortunately, she is now coming to the end of her life. She is 100 on the 20th November and we hope she will make it. The staff has said she can end her days there instead of hospital and cannot praise the staff enough. They are wonderful.

After finally finding a place here for my dad, I was so relieved. The staff are so friendly, helpful and at the reception I was made to feel welcome. My dad has been here a month and has settled down and looks 100% better than before moving in. He also feels that the care here and the food is fantastic
and he can't wander off on his own and that the care he receives is fabulous.
