Orchid Care Home is located at the heart of the community in Haydon Wick. They are delighted that in November 2024 Orchid Care Home was rated as 'Outstanding' by CQC.

Orchid Care Home is very much the residents' home and the well being of the residents is at the centre of every decision made, through collaboration with the residents, staff and visitors. Residents are invited to personalise their rooms, and family and friends are invited to visit at any time suitable for their loved one. CCTV in communal areas provides an additional reassurance.

Orchid Care Home's team of nurses, carers and activities coordinators aim to provide holistic, person-centred care to the residents, which is adapted as the care needs of each resident changes, to ensure each resident lives a fulfilled life.

We always find staff and management approachable, friendly, helpful and caring. Importantly, our mum likes them and gets on well with them and has built good relationships with those that care for her. There is always lots of activities which are varied - catering to all skill levels and during the
pandemic, photos have been posted on social media to keep us up-to-date and we have had video calls with Mum weekly when we couldn't visit. Mum always says how much she enjoys the food - lots of pictures confirm this.

Both of my Grandparents live here, bluebell is great for my Grandmother as she has advanced Alzheimer's. She's managed to make friends and has plenty to keep her busy, she's clearly eating well and maintaining much better hygiene than she could at home. My Grandfather has struggled to adapt to living
in a long-term care. Despite this, the staff have been wonderful with him. My Mum has had a long and difficult journey with her parents needing care for the first time, the staff have been understanding and have maintained excellent communication with her. I work in healthcare, I'd be happy to work here and am happy my family is living in this home. Although their health is declining, they are clearly both well cared for and I'm so relieved they have found somewhere to spend the end of their lives, especially as the home can accommodate their vastly different needs. This means they can live on different floors, and see eachother when it suits them.

We as a family are grateful to have got Mum into Orchid Care Home. Mums last years were mostly happy. Mum had dementia and was treated with love, kindness and compassion throughout her stay. The carers are amazing, they activities great, food was good. Mums room was clean and Mum always looked her best.
We could not ask for anything more. Mum was loved and cared for by the home until the end.

I would like to leave a review for Orchid Care Home and their team of staff. I have been visiting the home for a few years in different capacities as a professional and now a son of a service user. I am a former registered care home manager and an IMCA that used to regularly visit clients that were
subject to DOLS whilst residing in the home. In that role, I visited many care homes and was always impressed with the standard of care being provided at Orchid. I always used to personally judge a home based on whether or not I would like one of my parents to reside in it and I always felt that Orchid would be a suitable home for them if they ever needed it. Well, that day finally came. My father has Huntington's Disease and the time came that he needed residential nursing care. The staff have been amazing, Dad is so happy, being well cared for and putting on weight. I cannot fault or thank all the staff enough. They really do go above and beyond for everyone.

My father-in-law enjoyed over six months of care at the Orchid before he died. The care was exceptional. Staff were kind, happy and so caring. They really bonded with my FIL and him to them. The range of activities for residents is wide, always something to keep them interested and occupied if they
were able. The home is clean, modern and in an attractive residential area. Sadly my FIL died recently but the end of life care was amazing. Yes, it is very expensive but the care was the very best.

I do not think there is enough attention to detail for individuals. It costs a lot of money and I feel lots of things are overlooked eg I always have to get Mum's glasses and hearing aid for her. I don't feel there is enough personal attention to stop loneliness. She has dementia so does not know how
to put on the radio or TV or remember to drink enough. I know they're all busy but I feel more could be done to make it better and for me to recommend you.

We had a good feel for Orchid as soon as we walked through the door on the first viewing. Mum had dementia and we needed to know she would be safe and well cared for. Orchid is light, airy and modern and the staff are fabulously caring, supportive and attentive. Sadly Mum’s stay was relatively short
she was only there five months but our instincts were not wrong, we had made the right choice, this was the best place for her. Mum had settled and that was down to the first-class care she received. Orchid Care Home is top-notch, I highly recommend it.

Excellent care home and facilities.
Excellent carers and nurses. Very professional, kind and friendly to mum and family.
Excellent entertainment team. Works very hard to ensure residents have daily activities and lots of laughter and fun. A real tonic. Christmas carol concert and panto were enjoyed
by all.
Management - very approachable and friendly.
Cleaning - very high standard. Food - always enjoyed by mum.
Reception - very friendly and professional.

I have been at Orchid Care home for 18 months, originally to give my family a break after a minor fall. After 3 days, I decided to stay until I die. The nursing care is so professional and caring. I am in a perfect position to judge this as I went away at 16 to train as a nurse, I am now 90. There are
2 layers of care, senior and basic grade. The training of all levels is 2nd to none. Management is always available. There are 4 staff looking after the activities and there is something for everyone eg hydro pool in the home, minibus, food and drink. For me, the food is good, most of the issues are generational or cultural. Our age groups are traditional - meat and 2 veg. These problems will get sorted out.
