Orchid Care Home is located at the heart of the community in Haydon Wick. They are delighted that in November 2024 Orchid Care Home was rated as 'Outstanding' by CQC.

Orchid Care Home is very much the residents' home and the well being of the residents is at the centre of every decision made, through collaboration with the residents, staff and visitors. Residents are invited to personalise their rooms, and family and friends are invited to visit at any time suitable for their loved one. CCTV in communal areas provides an additional reassurance.

Orchid Care Home's team of nurses, carers and activities coordinators aim to provide holistic, person-centred care to the residents, which is adapted as the care needs of each resident changes, to ensure each resident lives a fulfilled life.

My mother spent her final three months at Orchid Care Home. She was always cared for in a friendly and compassionate manner by all of the staff. Mum particularly enjoyed spending time in the garden and the activities she took part in.
Her end-of-life care at Orchid Care Home was exemplary. As a family,
we were so well supported at this difficult time.
Our thanks again for all you did for Mum.

I visited Orchid Care in August 2024 unannounced to find a suitable home for Mum. I was welcomed by the home manager and shown around the home.
A few weeks later we managed to get Mum a room in Orchid. She has been in a couple of places but has not settled. She now absolutely loves where she is. All
the staff are so dedicated and caring. It is such a warm, welcoming place, there is so much going on in the home to keep the residents happy and involved. A home that hugs you when you visit. Thank you Orchid.

From the moment my mum came to Orchid Care Home, she has had great care. Lately (she is 100) she hasn't done so many activities, there are lots and very varied. Special days are celebrated. The care is second to none, it's a family atmosphere, always a happy place. Everyone speaks to all. My mum could
not be in better hands. She is safe, happy and in wonderful hands. If I need a care home later in life I would definitely choose Orchid Care Home.

My mother-in-law has been in the home for 2 years. She is very happy and is well looked after. The staff are wonderful and the facilities are excellent. The key factor is the wide scope of activities on offer.

Activities are really good and plenty of them. Trips, days out, picnics in the park, beach, cafe for tea and cake, shops and swimming, all very good. Very well organised and enjoyable, very friendly and helpful. Reception, very friendly and helpful. Facilities, cafe, very good, feel at home, a relaxed
area. Have not seen this in many care homes.

As a daily visitor to my mum at Orchard Care Home, I find it to be very well run, by kind and caring staff. It's always clean and tidy and the food always looks lovely and well-presented. The staff are very hardworking and willing to help and answer questions when I've asked.

Could not say anything wrong about Orchid Care Home. The care they give my father is over and above.
The care home is always clean. The staff are very friendly and caring. Activities are amazing and twice a day which I found this has stimulated my father who participates and enjoys every minute of
his time with the activity group. They have so much variety.

Attended the garden fete today, the setup was outstanding, the atmosphere was amazing from the man with the music and the staff on the stalls who were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, an amazing afternoon full of entertainment and fun!

1) Amazing staff when I come to visit my Dad, they also make me feel welcome and care for my dad with dignity and respect.

My Mother was in this home for three and a half years and received amazing care from all the staff. Starting with the Management who have an open door policy and always listened and acted on any query I had, the nursing staff who were just fantastic, went the extra mile all the time looking after Mum,
keeping me informed on all matters. The carers were brilliant always there for Mum, whatever she needed, they loved and cared for Mum as though she was family. All the remaining staff were also very friendly and had a joke with Mum and gave excellent service. Thank you Orchid for looking after Mum our family will never forget you.

I saw a social media video of one of the residents, who was my old teacher, playing the piano. I messaged the care home to send them all the lovely comments ex-pupils were saying about him. A staff member messaged back thanking me and saying she had read the messages out to him. She suggested we do
an afternoon tea and we set a date. The home was lovely - good parking, well-tended gardens out the front, and a warm welcome on reception. The staff member had arranged tea and cakes with a full china tea service laid out! Cakes and scones from the kitchen. Another staff member had come in on her day off to see their resident’s reaction to all the ex-pupils gathered to see him. Nothing was rushed, the staff was calm and friendly and everyone was looked after. We were escorted whilst in the building but it felt more like a friendly walk showing the way around the building rather than for security, if that makes sense! I can see why there’s a waiting list, it does seem like a lovely place. Thank you to everyone who made today possible.

My mother has been well looked after since she arrived here in March. The staff always make her feel valued and cared for. She has a great variety of activities to get involved in, is encouraged to eat a lovely variety of foods and the environment she lives in is good. One particular thing that stands
out is that Mum fell ill and had to be taken to the hospital, the staff waved her off and welcomed her back with open arms.

Orchid Care Home has exceeded all expectations in caring for my mother-in-law. Over the last 18 months, she has blossomed in this friendly and caring environment and is treated with respect. All of the staff are welcoming and friendly and show pride in their work. The home is kept immaculately clean
in all areas. Activities are numerous and varied for all residents, and the staff are there giving encouragement and support when needed but also giving the right amount of independence where appropriate. A great care home.

Every time I have visited Orchid Care Home, the staff have always been so friendly and helpful. There are always lots of great activities on for the residents, and they are so great at making every occasion special, whether it’s Christmas or a birthday.

Mum moved to Orchid Care Home in September 2018 so has now lived there for five years - I feel the service now is better than ever. She appears really happy and comfortable which is all we hope for.

My friend arranged for me to visit and have lunch with her. The location is very pleasant with adequate parking. The staff were always kind and patient with the residents. My friend's room was small, particularly with a wheelchair, walkers and mobility chair but the outlook over the gardens was nice.
Getting around was easy as the corridors were wide. Lunch was fine and the staff made me very welcome. Loved seeing the goats, fish and budgerigars. A welcoming home.

I am the operations director for the Angel Care/MNS Care group of homes. I qualified as a mental health nurse training in 1991 and as an adult nurse in 1996. I have been a nurse, deputy manager, registered manager, quality manager & assistant director. I have been an operations director for many years prior to joining this company, I have a passion for making a difference and a wide knowledge base, and I love working and being a leader in social care.
