Firstly apologies for writing this so late. Thank you to all the staff who looked after my mum in law
during her respite stay. You were all so friendly and helpful. This was the second time she has been looked after at Platters and it was lovely to see her reunited with fellow residents she had made
friends with previously. Whilst her room was a little basic the care she recieved was excellent.

My husband was not encouraged to join in with activities. The care staff said " we can't force him" . They never included him in anything that was going on.
He repeatedly texted me, telling me how miserable he was. I ordered him a takeaway meal because he was hungry.
One member of staff
treated him like a child. My husband may be ill but I expected him to be treated with respect.

Apprehensive initially as it was the first time but it turned out well. Thank you to the staff! My husband came home safe and sound and I am sure they've done an excellent job under difficult circumstances bearing in mind Covid, staff shortage and financial responsibility.

Thank you all at Platters Farm Lodge for looking after mum on the dementia unit. The communication, kindness and help at all times (even during mum's tough times) have been hugely appreciated. Mum's safety with you is such a relief.
My recommendation of Platters Farm Lodge goes without saying. Please
keep doing what you're doing.

My mum arrived at Platters after spending a week in the local hospital with a broken pelvis bone. I cannot thank the staff enough who made my mum's stay so lovely, from the moment she arrived nothing was too much trouble and made her feel special.
The care she received was excellent and when it was
time to come home after 4 weeks she was very reluctant to go but knew going back to her home was going to be OK. So thank you to you all for making my mum's recovery extra special and welcoming her with open arms.
You are all amazing - keep up the good work.

My wife was in Platters Farm for 4 weeks respite, she was extremely happy there, loved the food and staff. We would be more than happy to recommend and/or use again. My wife was well cared for and looked really well when we collected her.

Mum came here 4 weeks ago unable to hold her own weight or walk after a fall due to UTI. Being a stubborn old bird didn't expect her to try very hard with the physio but she is now walking with a frame, washing herself etc. I cannot thank the staff enough, always friendly and welcoming, showing you
a friendly face when you as a family member are anxious for your relatives. Thank you.

My husband always enjoys his stay at Platters Farm Lodge as he is always looked after well and given mental activity.
They meet his needs adequately and have both male and female carers which helps him as he cooperates better with a male carer for his personal needs.

Individually staff very kind and helpful but chronically understaffed at peak times, especially mornings.
Also at times people left in hubs or the television room with no carer present and no buzzer.
Left at tables after meals while staff are entering info on their machines.

I am very impressed with Platters Farm Lodge.
My Mother stayed for one week, her first visit.
She enjoyed her stay and came home a happier, brighter person.
The staff were excellent, kind, caring and The Lodge was spotless.
I would recommend Platters Farm to anybody in need of respite care for the
elderly.

My mother was very happy here unlike when she was in rehab. My mother likes to sleep a lot due to dementia but this home even got mother to join in and chat to others, play games, watch a film.
Agitation was very low as she was much better here in respite. Food was good mother said and care was very
good. Carers were friendly but respectful, understood my mother and her idiosyncrasies. She was encouraged but not forced to join in.

My mum has visited Platters Farm Lodge for the last 3 Christmas periods for respite care. On this occasion, I firmly believe that Platters Farm Lodge have upped their game. Everything seemed great, the staff and the level of care and attention were first class. Well done to all concerned.

A very good experience. My only observation is that some of the information on the discharge letter was incorrect, possibly it was given by the hospital? Dad was admitted because of a fall at the start of October, not colostomy (over 15 years). He had a fracture of the collarbone due to a fall and lives
with me, his daughter, not alone.

I could not wish for better care that I was given by well-meaning staff, especially when during my stay the facility was hit by a serious virus and unfortunately I suffered with this as well as a severe chest infection. The staff could not have been more attentive in my recovery.
The facilities and
activities at the centre are good although I didn’t make the most of it as I felt I was a bit young and would rather watch sport on my iPad.
I would not hesitate in going back if there was a need to and I know for sure that I will miss the staff.

Mum has had six respite stays with each one having various incidents, so management and control seriously need tightening. Incidents include loss of possessions, laundry and clean clothes mixed up. Another client's medication given in error - 'morphine, which is a controlled drug!' Discharged wearing
another client's clearly named garments. Incorrect or missing information on documents. Protective item bags taken with shampoo loose in the case with insecure cap, hence it drained into the contents. Little evidence of advisory notes being used etc. Below is as I have experienced.

Current Review Score: 7.1 (7.085)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.1 (7.085) out of 10 for Platters Farm Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.727 for Platters Farm Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 33 Ratings = 3.727
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.358 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Platters Farm Lodge is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.233
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
