From my first contact, I have been guided and supported. Each member of staff have listened and don't the extra mile to ensure my husband's care needs have been met. They have all done their utmost to ensure that it was an easy transition for him. from the very first day he has been made to feel very
welcome. Each member of staff whether a carer or administrator keenly support all the residents to ensure their time at the home is a happy one.

My partner went to Brook Court in 2014 aged 54years after a severe brain injury, I believe they could not be in better care home than Brook Court.
We have both been shown loving care and kindness at all times, and understanding and support to me through their very hard years.

My family and I had fantastic support from Brook Court when our father sadly required palliative and end of life care in 2018. They were faultless in the way they looked after him and we were so grateful for the empathy and kindness that they showed towards our family. Now, in 2020, we find ourselves
relying on the Brook Court team's expertise once again. This time they are helping our mother, who needs assistance in transitioning from her own home to this lovely home due to a diagnosis of dementia. We feel that both our mother and we are in safe hands. The Brook Court staff members have gone out of their way to settle her in, to keep us informed (which is so important in this time of Covid restrictions) and to stop us from worrying. We really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

My husband has been resident in Brook Court for 3 years. The care he has received, medically and personal is beyond words. There is not one member of staff who is not caring, professional and loving. It truly is a "home". I feel happy and welcomed the moment I walk through the door. The residents are
a family in a family home. All are loved equally. I cannot give a higher recommendation.

Excellent care for my mother for approximately 6 months.
Staff, nursing and care were considerate, caring and genuinely interested in my mother's well being.
During the last few days of her life at Brook Court, the whole team was amazing, he cared for mum with compassion and dignity. For that, I must
thank them, from the whole family.
Thank you.

The family I visited all homes in the area, finding a fault with every one. On entering Brook Court we were made very welcome, offered refreshments. Shown a room, not a shower room. Had expenses and terms explained. This was the only place my Mother and the family were 100% happy with. We put her name
down there and then. She has been very happy here for nearly 4 years. Long may it continue.

Everyone at Brook Court looks after mom extremely well. They are kind, caring and interested in her as a person albeit her dementia is getting worse so she cannot always respond accordingly. The whole family are grateful that we have found such a loving and caring home for mom.

My mother was only at Brook Court for a short time, however, during her stay, I cannot fault the care she received. She was always clean, beautifully dressed with hair and nails done. She was content. Staff got to know her personality and her little ways. They were proactive in calling me with any concerns
or questions. They were always ready to hear my worries too and action them. The physical environment of the home could not be more complete, clean and well laid out. I would strongly recommend this care home to anyone needing dementia care.

This is what care away from home should be like for everyone. The surroundings, decor and atmosphere are fantastic, but the level of care is what counts and it is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. We feel that dad is completely safe and looked after here. Everyone who works here seems very happy.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Brook Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.881 for Brook Court is calculated as follows: ( (186 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 210 Ratings = 4.881
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I started my career as a Peripatetic Home Manager, working across the UK, making sure care homes met the regulator's standards.

I joined Care UK in 2016 because I felt it would be a supportive and rewarding company to be a part of and I was correct.

I’ve seen the high standard of care for residents and great teams. Everyone is very committed to ensuring that every resident is happy and cared for. There’s always a lot to do in my role, but by far my favourite part of the day is when I walk around the home, checking everything is okay, and chatting with residents, relatives and my team.

I enjoy getting to know the residents and welcoming new people into the home.
