I cannot thank the staff of Goldenview enough for the care and compassion they showed my Dad and our family. He was transferred into their care with an incomplete and inaccurate handover package from Hospital against my wishes as I felt he was close to the end of his life. He really should not have
been sent here but in spite of this they kept him to avoid any more distress both to Dad and us and did everything they could to make his final hours as comfortable and peaceful as possible. They were so accommodating, allowing us to spend his final night with him and continually checked on us as well as him.
When he passed nothing was rushed and they guided us through what we needed to do and allowed us time to say our goodbyes.
Although we had wanted him to stay in the hospital, in the end we were glad that when his time came he was in a private and quiet environment, surrounded by his family with people who we felt truly care about his welfare. So thank you Goldenview,.

I can not thank this home/unit enough for the love and care provided to my dad when he was being assessed. All the staff showed care and compassion and noticing the changes in his health which were acted upon promptly. From the nursing staff to the care staff, therapy staff and activity staff. The management
have been amazing. I was talked through the process and a suitable home was found in a few weeks. Thank you to all at Goldenview

This care home is in need of a complete overhaul starting with a deep clean and then removing and replacing the uncomfortable chairs that most residents appear to spend all day in. It is not suitable for elderly vulnerable patients and the hospital should be ashamed to refer people there a situation
being raised with local MP and the CQC.

My mother was well cared for at Goldenview Care Home during her assessment stay.
The hard work put into meeting her needs alongside those of other residents, some of whom need significant help and present challenge to those providing it, was evident day by day.
As a visitor I was always made welcome,
they kept me informed on my mother's condition, treatment and progress, answered my questions, and liaised effectively with those responsible for assisting her care on discharge back home.

Grandad was admitted following a fall and sadly within just 13 days their condition deteriorated rapidly.
The level of care or lack thereof was beyond anything we could have imagined. The care provided was inadequate, leading to a significant decline in my Grandads health.
We have formally raised
a complaint with the care home, authorities, including CQC and social services, are involved. Unfortunately, the outcome was tragic, as my Grandad passed away. It's heartbreaking to think of the suffering my Grandad endured and I would strongly caution anyone considering this care home for their loved ones. We are hopeful that investigations will lead to accountability and better care practices in the future, but for now our family is devastated by the loss we've experienced.

I bitterly regret disregarding those older 1 & 2 star reviews when my mother had the misfortune to be sent here for assessment last summer (the abhorrent discharge with no choice option and no due diligence from the hospital is for another CQC complaint). Totally inadequate for my mother's needs and
40 miles too far from home. Totally destroyed her physical and mental well-being, and caused much stress for me too. She ended up in hospital twice due to the 'care' she received. The second time I had to get there urgently after midnight as she wasn't expected to survive. She came out in a far worse state than when she arrived at the home two weeks prior. I see not much has changed.

Awful. Relative mentally declined whilst in their care. Staff doing their best.
Rooms awful. Residents overall ignored and left to sit in chairs, in rows, in front of a very loud TV. Breakfast lunch and tea all served in same chair they have been in since early morning. Just awful.

The rooms are cold and dirty. Dirt and chewed sweet stuck inside bedside drawer. Bathroom cabinet filthy. Patient name and info on bedroom wall dated Aug, not for my NOK. No toilet frame, just one grab rail to assist in toilet and no grab rail at all in one of the in communal toilets downstairs, looked
like had snapped off the wall.
Most staff do their best, are pleasant but ruled and overruled by senior carer who ignores you even when you are talking directly to her, face to face, asking for help such as taking relative to the toilet. Remarkable how she then just walks away as though she hasn't seen or heard you.
Unsafe narrow corridors so when there is an incident with agitated patients there is nowhere to get out of the way. Lounge unsafe, residents lined up in rows in chairs all day in front of loud tv so they can't be heard asking for help, creates agitation. Senior carer said quiet room was mess, it was, and wasn't quiet. Reception staff lovely and very helpful and caring.

My husband has been in Goldenview for four months and we have nothing but praise and gratitude for the care he has received. Sometimes my husband's behaviour can be challenging, but it has always been met with kindness, respect and understanding. As a family, we have all felt that he couldn't have received
better care anywhere else. We have been grateful, too, for the open office arrangement, as we have been able to ask questions, discuss his care etc without ever feeling we shouldn't. We have also received incredible help from the management team in securing the next stage of my husband's care. Thank you everyone for the wonderful work you do.

My husband was a temporary resident for 16 weeks at Goldenview.
I cannot thank the manager and her team enough for their patience, kindness, friendly welcome and care that they gave to my husband and our family at all times.
I would like to have given 4.5 stars as our experience was very good.

My mother spent a number of weeks at Goldenview following release from hospital and we cannot thank the home and staff for the care she received. Having never been in this situation before we didn't know what to expect but found the service professional, welcoming and friendly with the utmost care shown
to my mother. She has just been released home and I am sure will miss the staff and their attention. We will miss our weekly visits as well I am sure. Keep up the good work Goldenview.

My mum was sent here after being discharged from the hospital 9 weeks ago. Within 10 minutes of her arriving, the home had already rang to introduce themselves. Within the first couple of weeks, problems started to arise with my mum's behaviour, and her dementia started to plummet. The communication
between myself and the management team was spot on. Every time I had a question or a worry the manager was on hand to answer or reassure me.
The manager and two other particular members of staff played a major part in Mum's stay making sure Mum had what she needed when she needed it.
Between themselves making sure Mum's feelings and thoughts were listened to. And went to great lengths to make sure Mum's stay was enjoyable.

Our brother-in-law was admitted for an assessment bed, even after the first 24 hours the difference could be seen.
Our brother-in-law was brighter and more responsive.
We can not fault the staff they were attentive and caring to him.
We will always be in their debt for the care and empathy they
gave him while he was in their care was excellent.

What a lovely place Goldenview is, set in the countryside, Dad's room had a marvellous view.
All the staff are incredibly friendly and made Dad feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble, and they're all polite and caring.
Dad's clothing was all labelled, so no worry over that and an inventory was
made, which we were able to check so that when we collected his belongings we received pretty much everything.
Everyone was so helpful during Dad's assessment, and we felt reassured that Dad's continuing care will be top-notch.

Our mum/nana was admitted to Golden View on June 13, 2023. Staff there are courteous, polite, respectful and made her short stay like a second home. Mum sadly passed away on 25 July peacefully and comfortably surrounded by loved ones. The care that the GP, nurses and support staff provided was second
to none. The environment provided was joyous and dignified and, as a family, we are so grateful and thankful. You have all been so lovely.

My dad aged 89 had sadly suffered the last eight years of his life with Alzheimer’s. He was transferred from hospital to Goldenview Care Home where he received wonderful care on what turned out to be the last eight weeks of his life, due to the difficult advanced stage of his Alzheimer’s. It’s a well
run, safe, clean, nice bedroom, good food and wonderful staff who genuinely care and love the residents. As a family visiting they looked after us too, drinks, chairs, fans, nothing was ever too much trouble. My dad was kept clean, well shaven and nicely dressed every day he was there. Their patience and dedication with the residents was second to none, well done to each and every one of you. As a family this has been a heartbreaking and very difficult time for us all, but we would like to thank you all at Goldenview for helping us along the way during this difficult journey and for your love and support shown to dad and us right up to when he peacefully passed away last week. Love to you all.

I will start this review by saying that this facility is not perfect. This is the second occasion that my mother has been placed in an NHS Assessment Bed and so I can make a like-for-like comparison and this facility is a tremendous improvement on our previous experience. Mother settled quickly and
didn't want to leave when discharged to a permanent facility. The management and administration teams ensured communication between themselves and our family was maintained. The care staff were attentive at all times.

My mother-in-law had the misfortune of being discharged from the hospital to this home for NHS assessment. She was left in her bed in a room with nothing to do, no TV because there was no remote control, no stimulation at all, completely ignored by the carers when she spoke to them, no fluids given
so she ended up back in A&E severely dehydrated and now physically very unwell. We have made a complaint to the NHS and CQC.

Dad was discharged to Golden View from the hospital 6 weeks ago for assessment and we feel so fortunate that this was the case! The care and attention he has had are exemplary and the detailed assessment has ensured that a really accurate and robust view of needs has been gained. All staff have gone
out of their way to make things as easy for us as possible during a difficult time, and although we are happy that Dad is now moving to a nursing home nearer to home, we are a little sad that these wonderful people will no longer be in Dad's life. Food has been of a consistently high standard. Dad has been kept very clean, his hair washed and in clean clothes and not a single item of clothing has disappeared in the laundry! No belongings have gone missing. Re.negative reviews about lack of stimulation/activities -this is mostly an assessment home but the manager is recruiting an activity co-ordinator and investing in equipment in order to improve the residents' experiences here.
