Overall Experience
Dad was discharged to Golden View from the hospital 6 weeks ago for assessment and we feel so fortunate that this was the case! The care and attention he has had are exemplary and the detailed assessment has ensured that a really accurate and robust view of needs has been gained. All staff have gone out of their way to make things as easy for us as possible during a difficult time, and although we are happy that Dad is now moving to a nursing home nearer to home, we are a little sad that these wonderful people will no longer be in Dad's life. Food has been of a consistently high standard. Dad has been kept very clean, his hair washed and in clean clothes and not a single item of clothing has disappeared in the laundry! No belongings have gone missing. Re.negative reviews about lack of stimulation/activities -this is mostly an assessment home but the manager is recruiting an activity co-ordinator and investing in equipment in order to improve the residents' experiences here.

Thankyou GoldenView!

A caring and no doubt good assessment center but absolutely useless as a care home, it is awful. The residents are plonked in front of the tv and left to their own devices, with absolutely no stimulation, no conversation, and no activities. My mother-in-law went in happy and came out not eating, talking, or even trying to walk. It was like sending her to the knackers yard. I Can't even put into words the condition she came out in! Once you've been assessed you are plonked in a seat which I presume it is used as an assessment stop, but my god please avoid.

My husband was admitted here after spending two weeks in hospital with pneumonia which alongside his vascular dementia meant I could no longer care for him at home. Both my daughter and I feel we have won the lottery in regard to him being placed here in Golden View Care Home. There are not enough accolades/plaudits I can give in regard to the loving care and attention he has received since he's been there. Having dementia means you are averse to change plus mood swings. All of the staff recognise this and go above and beyond to ensure everything remains the same so as not to "trip" him into an agitated state. From the manager, reception staff, nurses, physio and one-to-one carers, we cannot thank you enough for making life easier for us in knowing husband/dad is having the best care, love and attention as is the right of anyone in this position.

Thank you seems so inadequate, but trust us when we say "thank you and bless each and every one of you".

This home is terrible and my experience of the care my father received was the poorest I have ever seen. We will be submitting a formal complaint to this home, the NHS who placed him there, and the CQC who regulate this home.

My mum was sent to Goldenview Care Home for assessment and thank goodness she was! The staff here are amazing they really care about the residents and my mum is thriving in the environment, she's never looked better. Nothing is too much trouble and the 1:1 are so compassionate, my mum loves them - she says they are so helpful and are her little friends. We know that Mum is cared for and feels safe so that is so reassuring for us. We now have far more nice, fun visits with Mum because she is less stressed about day-to-day life. All the staff are so approachable and friendly, it is lovely to feel so relaxed there and know that we can ask about anything and get open and honest answers. We just thank goodness that Mum was referred to Goldenview Care Home.

All of the staff were brilliant at looking after my dad, he can be very difficult to care for at times of stress, and or change, this was dealt with by all of the staff professionally and kindness was always used, however, difficult the situation that my dad put himself in. All the staff from management to cleaners are so kind and caring at all times. When I've rung the home for information on my dad, the information was always ready to give the correct and informative things that my dad has been doing. I would recommend anyone to put their trust in the staff and carers without any hesitation.

I cannot fault the care that my mum receives at Goldenview. I have met numerous members of staff whenever I visit and they are all caring and compassionate. Whenever I ring to enquire how Mum is the staff always give me a full account of how she is, how she has been since I last visited and if she is eating etc. I just wish that Goldenview was not just an assessment unit and that Mum could stay there. I cannot fault it.

Very sad that my Mum is spending her last days here. Covid has robbed us of choice in nursing care and this seems to have allowed standards to fall well below the standards we should accept for our loved ones.

Very poorly operated facility. Friendly but clear lack of activity and constant inconsistent communication around what is included in their care plan. No consideration or awareness of mental health wellbeing. Please don’t suffer our plight.
