At a desperate time, i knew it was time for mum to be cared for properly. Mum initially came for 28 days respite care, but within a week we all knew the right thing was to make this a permanent move. There was never a question as to which Care Home mum would come to as my dear Dad spent his final 6 weeks being cared for at Newbury Grove (was formerly Gracewell). The care he received at such a difficult time was beyond outstanding. Mum has settled quickly and neither she nor us as the family can fault a single thing. Just seeing many of the same wonderful staff still working there after 8 years really spoke volumes. They love their jobs and look after each and every resident with extreme care, kindness and empathy. Visiting is a pleasure, my worries caring for my mum myself have gone away, and seeing her happy, interacting and safe in an environment that defies what we think of as a care home means everything to me. I don't feel I have compromised my Mum in anyway! Excellent!!!!
The standard of care was consistently excellent; my mother's room was light and airy and kept spotlessly clean.
I was always kept informed of any changes in my mother's health, and/or medication and GP visits and given enough time to make any decisions.
The staff made, what was a particularly emotionally fraught time, much easier due to their positive attitude, empathic approach, professionalism and attention to detail; and I am very happy to have made the decision to have entrusted them with my mother's care.
Newbury Grove goes above and beyond to ensure that there are plenty of activities organised throughout the week, and although my mother had chosen not to get involved; her decision was respected.
I would not hesitate to recommend Newbury Grove to anyone wanting complete peace of mind for their parent or relative's care.
The choice of food is incredible and may seem a bit much to some if truth be known as older folk don't have the appetites.
There are loads of activities and sing-alongs and the like. Each resident also gets to choose their birthday cake each year and you can guarantee a Happy Day will be had.
The ambience of the place is really lovely as well.
It's simply a lovely place for your loved one to spend their days
Thank you Paul for taking the time to write such a wonderful review about our home. It is always a pleasure to hear that relatives are happy with the care we provide. Here a Newbury Grove we pride ourselves on going the extra mile and are thrilled our hard work is appreciated. Knowing we made you and your family feel like part of ours is what we are all about.
Dad moved in at the beginning of March and settled in very easily. He's enjoying the food and many of the activities. If the weather allows, he loves to sit in the garden. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and I feel like I have been accepted into the Newbury Grove family too!
Thank you Katherine for taking the time to review Newbury Grove. We are thrilled to hear dad is settling into his new home and enjoying our beautiful garden. Our team work hard to deliver tasty food, an array of activities and fantastic care. Knowing that you and dad already feel part of our family warms our hearts.
Having looked round a few homes we knew NG was the best location but it all hinged on "the feeling". From the moment we met Julie, that feeling grew as we wandered around. The staff were all so friendly and Julie was so caring and understanding of the choice we were making and what was right for Ben. No selling, no just agreeing with what we said, but a kind and listening approach that made us relax and no we had found the right place.
Wumi visited Ben in hospital and he was immediately at ease and ready to go!! The communication with the hospital pre discharge, not an easy ask, was seamless and he duly arrived.
It is no exaggeration to say that his mood and health improved within a week. He is relaxed and smiling again!
From Adarsh through the chefs and the good food, to the nurses, carers Housekeeping, all have a smile that tells you this is a good place to be!
A gushing review? Yes and only because it is fully deserved!
Thank you Jonathan for taking the time to review Newbury Grove. It is great to hear Ben relaxed as soon as he arrived. As a care provider our team work hard to make the transition into the home is as smooth as possible. We are glad your experience has been positive and thank you for sharing this.
Our Mother Brigid Foley spent two and a half years as a resident at Newbury Grove. We looked at many Carehomes in Wiltshire and Berkshire and from the first day we knew we had made the right decision with NG. We as a family all agreed that everything about the home exceeded our expectations, Mum was cared for by the loveliest carers, housekeepers, activities co ordinators, receptionists and an outstanding manager. Mum's room was cleaned meticulously every day, she received the best nutrition, all the meals were to her liking, she always said "I can't fault this place, it's like a 5 star hotel' All the staff got to know her pretty quickly and they made us feel very welcome whenever we visited, which was often and at anytime of the day. We will forever be grateful to all the staff at Newbury Grove and continue to recommend the home to anyone with loved ones that need some extra care. Alex O'Connell
Thank you Alex for taking the time to provide such a wonderful review of Newbury Grove. We pride ourselves on ensuring all our residents are treated as individuals and made to feel like part of our family. Our staff are our biggest asset and reviews like this ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.
As a family, we were also made feel comfortable and respected by everyone. We underwent regular care review consultations with staff, not just when Mum was resident of the day , but regularly throughout the year. Management were extremely quick in their response to any concerns & reflective learning was very prevalent within the nursing team. I am a retired registered nurse, and I would be proud of the team at Newbury Grove.
Thank you SD for taking the time to review Newbury Grove. We are so pleased you felt mum was cared for in a compassionate manner and you were all welcomed into our family. Given your past experience in the nursing profession you understand what is involved which makes your feedback even more valuable.
There is a wonderful atmosphere of care and kindness at Newbury Grove. All residents are known as individuals and their needs understood. They are treated with dignity and compassion.
The strong management team works alongside the carers ensuring a professional, dedicated and happy atmosphere with high retention of staff.
The wide range of activities includes craft, gentle exercises, music, and outings in the Home's minibus. If residents prefer, there are 1:1 times.
The delicious and nutritious food provides excellent choice and can be adapted to suit individual circumstances.
A beautiful courtyard garden provides sunny or shaded areas and residents can tend their own raised beds.
The rooms are comfortable, clean, well maintained and all have ensuite wet room facilities.
All together, Newbury Grove is a very special place and I highly recommend it..
Team Newbury Grove
My mother, Eunice, spent seven years at Newbury Grove, and from the moment she arrived we knew she was in the right place. She was treated not just as a resident, but as a valued individual. The compassion, patience and dignity shown by carers, nurses, catering, activities and management gave our family enormous reassurance, especially as Mum became more frail. The nursing care was meticulous and professional, but always deeply human. Staff kept me informed, prepared us gently for the end, and handled Mum's final moments with extraordinary sensitivity. The catering team adapted beautifully as her needs changed, ensuring her meals were nourishing, personalised and beautifully presented. Activities staff brought joy, music and connection into her life. In her final days, she was cared for with tenderness and respect. We will always be grateful. Newbury Grove is exceptional.

My brother and I are extremely grateful that dad's final years were spent in company, comfort, well fed, well cared for and being able to enjoy the beautiful garden with a cup of tea in hand. This was achieved through the staff's skills, patience, respect and dedication. Adarsh leads a team which genuinely cares about the health and happiness of their residents and their families which was particularly evident and appreciated in the final weeks as Dad was nursed and comforted by people that he knew and knew him.
Newbury Grove is a bright, clean, positive place with excellent facilities, a variety of entertainment and a team of supportive staff all contributing to a happy village atmosphere.

It was a hard decision to move Mum to a care home but Newbury Grove were brilliant with her and us from the start. Mum was treated with love, care and compassion, she loved the staff and the staff loved her. It felt like we had an extended family looking after her, from the housekeeping, to carers and medical staff, all were looking out for her best interest. Mum enjoyed all aspects of Newbury Grove and joined in with the whole range of activities, as did we, giving her a new lease of life in her last years. She loved her gardening and took over two raised beds in the home garden and enjoyed choosing plants and seeing them grow. We appreciated the level of communication from Newbury Grove from the weekly activity schedule and menu, to the family meetings and monthly reviews from all departments. I would highly recommend Newbury Grove to anyone wanting a warm welcoming safe home for a loved one.

They treated her with love and respect, helping her through the terrifying onset of dementia. They cared for her physically, sitting with her when she needed company, painting her nails and brushing her hair when she wanted to look good for her visitors and ensuring she was eating properly when she forgot.
The home has some amazing facilities and there is a wide range of entertainment options available. The setting is very pleasant and clean and there is a lovely garden to sit in, weather permitting. The food is excellent too but best of all, the staff are lovely. They work so hard and are very dedicated.
I can thoroughly recommend Newbury Grove for anyone who wants to find their loved one somewhere safe and nurturing to move to.

Newbury Grove is a beautifully maintained & exceptionally run care home, very caring professional staff including registered nurses, always greeted with a smile & friendly conversation when visiting. We booked a tour of Newbury Grove to see for ourselves, also as a comparison visited many other care homes, but we did not experience anything near as good as what Newbury Grove had to offer, it is an outstanding care home above & beyond anything else that we viewed and experienced. Mum has been a permanent resident for 6 months at Newbury Grove now, she is thriving & has settled in well, with a whole new social life. Staff retention is excellent but also important to engage with the same familiar faces each day. Mum joins in with the various daily activities, she is happy, safe & being well looked after, also eating well with the excellent choice of healthy food on the menu. It is a daunting task choosing the right care home but as a family we could not have wished for anything better.

For over six years, my mother was a resident at Newbury Grove, and the experience was always excellent and on the odd occasions it fell short they remedied quickly . The care she received was warm, personal, and genuinely centred around her individual needs, making her feel valued and respected every day. The food was consistently delicious and well-presented, with attention given to both nutrition and personal preferences - something she always looked forward to. Activities were exceptionally thoughtfully designed on a person-centric basis, ensuring she could engage in things she enjoyed, keeping her mind and spirit active. The staff were welcoming, kind, and always went the extra mile to create a friendly, family-like atmosphere. Underpinning it all was a strong, hands-on leadership team who not only set high standards but also got things done promptly and effectively. I will always be grateful for the care, compassion, and professionalism that made my mother's years there so happy

There is a can do attitude around the home that makes everyday living joyful and much thought goes into the activities and enrichment programme offered to all the residents.
I always found it easy to talk to staff about any concerns I had about my parents health and well-being. I was made to feel part of the team and listened to and I thoroughly appreciated their professional advice as I knew they had my parents best interests at heart.
I wholeheartedly recommend the home to friends I talk to and explain to them how it enhanced the quality of life for my elderly parents.

My husband has dementia & moved into Newbury Grove in April 2025 as I could no longer give him the care he so needed. I looked at 8-10 homes & as soon as I visited I knew that this was where I wanted him to be. As with all homes I visited the average age is higher than my husbands years but they have accommodated him well - everyone knows him - staff and residents - & he is very happy waving to everyone as he wanders around. I need not have worried about the guilt, he is in the best place for both of us. The care is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble. Everyone works with a smile at all times, never have I seen anyone cross or frustrated with the work they do - they all deserve medals for the dedication to their role. I also chose Newbury Grove as they employ nurses. I am reassured that if anything needs urgent medical attention, then it is right there & acted on immediately and I am always kept informed. I am so happy I made the right choice with choosing Newbury Grove.

The atmosphere at the home is always very positive and the staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely care about the residents wellbeing; not just their physical health but their mental wellbeing too. With this i was also kept well informed about any issues my mum may have had.
Mum loved doing the quizzes that were regularly arranged and the entertainment team work tirelessly to come up with innovative and imaginative activities to stimulate all the residents.
Sadly my mum is no longer with us, but again the staff treated me and my family with such compassion when she passed away. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Newbury Grove to anyone.
