The home is close to Newbury town centre in a pleasant residential area, and is arranged into smaller suites with stylish dining rooms and lounges on each floor. Each en-suite bedroom is individually designed, and there are five apartments for couples.

It was with great trepidation that our dear mother arrived at Newbury Grove in October 2019. Despite the fact that she was unable to stand unaided, she was insistent that she could remain at home, alone. From the outset, staff reassured us that Mum would settle in and now, due to the patience and
marvellous care and attention she has received, she is now mobile and very happy to join in activities with her fellow residents.
Mum has a bright and airy room where she can sit comfortably, enjoying the view from her window, and chatting to the friendly staff who pop in to see if she needs anything.
The family are kept informed of Mum's progress and the Manager is most helpful and attentive. The excellent level of care has continued through the challenging times that the Pandemic presented and there is always a cheery welcome when family members call in to visit.
It is a great comfort to know that Mum is so happy and among friends. We thoroughly recommend Newbury Grove.

My father was at Newbury Grove for 2 and 1/2 years. From the time we first made contact we had a positive and welcoming experience. The staff are all amazing and take time to get to know each resident. Whenever I visited, the carers had time to stop and chat to me about Dad, he wasn't just a number.
I was very impressed by the care given especially to someone with advanced dementia and no hearing. The home is very well run and I had access to the care home manager if I needed it. I should add that whenever the care home had to contact us they were at pains not to worry us unnecessarily but kept us fully informed. I can't recommend Newbury Grove highly enough.

My mother spent the last 8 months of her life at Newbury Grove, having gone in when her health declined after a fall. The staff were wonderful from the moment she arrived and we will be forever grateful for their friendliness, and the help and care they gave her throughout her stay. During her last
days, the staff looked after her with endless patience, respect and dignity, and even when she was slipping away from us they managed to get some lovely smiles from her. We cannot thank the staff enough for helping us too through this difficult time. We will always have happy memories of the hours spent in the garden, which my mum loved, sitting with her and watching the world go by! I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Newbury Grove. Many thanks to all.

We have found the staff at Newbury Grove to be exceptional in their care and understanding when my mother-in-law moved in after hip surgery. She became unwell the following day due to an error in hospital and they promptly called an ambulance and informed us immediately. They then stayed in touch to
find out how she was. After a week she was discharged back to their care and the high level of care has continued for her and our family.

Newbury Grove is a lovely, caring home. It has a modern feel to it and a nice atmosphere. When he was in better health, my father loved the garden. The staff are amazing. Incredibly patient and professional - my father wasn't always the easiest person but I felt that he was always treated with care
and respect.
The general manager is a fantastic leader and navigated the home through the pandemic very successfully with the residents' interests at the centre of all decisions where possible. Much of my contact had to be virtual for geographical reasons and the staff were always very accommodating in ensuring that this happened.

This review is about my mother's 4 years at Newbury Grove/Gracewell. We found it excellent both in residential and nursing care. The environment is safe and stimulating with a wide range of daily activities and brilliant staff running them. Facilities are modern and relevant, the food is excellent and
the accommodation is kept clean and tidy with laundry done regularly. The main point of this review is to highlight how marvellous the staff are. Newbury Grove is highly recommended.

A lovely caring home. The residents are well looked after. Plenty of activities including BBQ's throughout the summer. TV in most rooms including sky sports. Super staff. All use christian names, they are really friendly.

My father-in-law is now a resident in Newbury Grove. As many of you know, the decision to put a loved one in care is not taken lightly. We are delighted with not only the facilities but the care and attention are second to none. The staff are professional and very caring. We could not ask for better.
It has taken a huge weight off. Any doubts have been dispelled. He is being well cared for.

My father arrived in November 2018 from a care home in London, which closed down. I live in Newbury with my family so it was a natural choice. We looked at a few homes in the area but chose Newbury Grove as it was modern, had nice rooms, wide corridors and helpful staff, and visiting times relaxed.
The new General Manager has been fantastic, super efficient, does an excellent job and all the staff like and respect him. He has been outstanding in protecting the home through Covid. Sadly my father died in June of natural causes and had always been very well looked after by the staff, with empathy and kindness. My father was not the easiest at times but was always treated with patience and respect. In my opinion, the staff are amazing, angels in fact, and deserve much praise.

My friend moved into Gracewell in June 2017, she lived there until she peacefully passed away in March 2022. We experienced lots of changes in these 5 years. The team went over and above to make sure my friend was safe and comfortable at all times . As a visitor I was always greeted with a smile
and addressed by my first name. Sadly due to my friend’s health condition we were not able to take advantage of all facilities at Newbury Grove. Thank you is not enough.

My mother moved into Newbury Grove in January 2017 and the transition was extremely smooth, Mum was made very welcoming indeed and nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff are exceptional, from the staff at reception, carers, nurses through to housekeeping and Mum always felt very much at home
there. The layout, rooms and facilities are excellent. The carers and nurses cared for Mum like she was one of their own family. Even during Covid, Newbury Grove kept the residents safe and had strict protocols for visiting which they adapted when the Government changed the rules and they made adjustments to allow family members to see their resident family member whenever it was deemed safe to do so.


When Mum's health needs changed, the staff supported Mum and me (as the principal family member) and they adapted Mum's care to suit her changing health. When the end came for Mum, everyone was so loving and caring, both for Mum and myself, for which I will always be exceeding grateful.

Our Mother has lived at Gracewell for almost three years and we have absolutely no regrets about our choice of Care Home. Gracewell offers a light modern relaxed environment. Over the past year, Mum’s physical health has deteriorated and she is now unable to walk but pre Covid, we often visited the
Bistro for a coffee and chat with others and regularly played snooker in the bar. However, what makes Gracewell so special are those who work there. Of special mention, is the Activity co-ordinator and, of course, Mum’s lovely Carers. They are wonderful and they look after her as though she was "their" Mother. During the worst of the Covid epidemic when we weren’t allowed to visit her, they kept us up to date with her condition, facilitated internet calls and sent us photos. We were filled with admiration for how they and indeed all members of staff, managed to work under very difficult conditions with the safety and the well-being of the residents as their priority. This they continue to do.

My aunt, like many elderly people, did not want to enter a home, but after a few weeks she settled in very well and always said she was happy and well cared for. She enjoyed the ability of going out into the garden as often as possible. She was very well cared for medically and socially by the staff
who often shared a joke with her. We as visitors always had a warm welcome from all the staff which we appreciated. Thank you for the care she received.

Both my parents were residents at Gracewell of Newbury. They were founder members and the first residents to be admitted in 2016. Their care at Gracewell, was exemplary and every member of staff worked hard to make my parents feel relaxed and at home. My father died in 2018, and my mother in March of
this year. From being admitted to the home until the end of their lives, Gracewell of Newbury kept a very high standard of care and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.

“Mum was aware of Dad’s love of steam and would accompany him to various steam events. She absolutely adored him and constantly asked

Mother was in Gracewell of Newbury for four and half years until her death. In the early days long before Covid, Mother much enjoyed her time there and the company of other residents.
Notwithstanding the difficulties faced by Covid, the home kept her safe and free from the virus.
The carers were always
very helpful to Mother but also to me when I went for my visits. The management team were also very caring and helpful.
I know along with the family, she will be missed.

My mother-in-law recently completed a 4-week respite stay at Gracewell of Newbury and is now a permanent resident. The decision to stay was hers following the excellent care she had received from all the staff. In the initial visit to look round, the home admissions advisor, she was very patient and
considerate, ensuring we saw everywhere and introducing us to staff we met. She answered all our questions honestly and always spoke directly to my mother-in-law. Her genuine and caring nature impressed us. Since then we have been encouraged to bring in items and furniture from her home to make her room more homely and “hers”. The staff are all very friendly and caring not only to the residents but also very welcoming to the visitors. All the other residents were equally welcoming, friendly and reassuring to my mother-in-law and I’m sure that helped in her settling in so quickly. The home provides a varied program of activities and the residents are actively encouraged to participate.

This is an excellent home, well run and managed with caring and professional staff. My mum who has late stage dementia settled in so quickly and the care and attention she has been shown has been outstanding. The home admissions advisor was supportive throughout the whole moving in process, keeping
me informed and going above and beyond to make the transition go as smoothly as possible. I have been made to feel so welcome on my visits by all the lovely staff on the dementia floor, at reception and even the handyman! I get regular updates from the nurse and the manager sends out weekly email updates on the home, so I feel well informed.
I finally feel I can relax knowing my mum is getting the care she deserves. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a safe, caring, friendly environment for their loved ones.

Job Title: General Manager

I am a Registered Nurse with over fifteen years of experience. I lead the entire home team at Newbury Grove, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the home and its facilities to ensure we meet all of the standards required of us.


I appreciate how important it is to residents and their loved ones that they receive regular information and updates about their care, and what’s happening in the home. I’m passionate about keeping everyone updated, including our team, and about celebrating our successes.


One of my favourite parts of the day is spending time with residents and catching up with their families. We’re one big family here at Newbury Grove. I look forward to welcoming you to the home very soon.
