When the time came for my father to move to a residential care home, we looked at several in the local area. Bishops Manor stood out for several reasons. On our first visit, we got the clear impression of a professionally run, vibrant, happy and active home with excellent individual resident centered
care. We decided on the spot that this place was an ideal fit for Dad. He has now been at Bishops Manor for just over a month and our initial impression of the home has been confirmed and enhanced. The dedicated nursing and care team have helped him integrate well into the daily routine of the home. Moving from living independently to a care home could be difficult, but the staff have helped Dad cope with this change with huge kindness and consideration - we can't praise them enough. They were quickly on first name terms with my father and the team have demonstrated that Bishops Manor has a deep-seated care ethic that extends to everyone in the home. It really is a caring home.
Reply from Jody Sedgwick, Home Manager at Bishops ManorThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We’re truly honoured to care for your father and delighted to hear that your initial impression of Bishops Manor has only grown stronger. Supporting residents through such a big life transition with compassion and dignity is at the heart of what we do, and your words mean so much to the whole team.

A big "thank you" to all the team for an amazing birthday celebration with Mom and her friends. Your combined teamwork, care and attention to detail made it a very special day. My mom loved the day and feedback from those who were there thought it was amazing.
I realise that there was a lot of extra
effort from many behind the scenes and some that pulled out all the stops to help out, such as the receptionist, the chef and another member of staff, so thank you and everyone else for making it a wonderful day. Please pass this on to anyone involved in helping make the day special.

It's taken me a few weeks to write this.
My dad was living at Bishops Manor for just over two years when he sadly died at 97 years old.
I would like to thank all the staff at Bishops Manor for making my dad's stay a happy one.
From the moment he came to view Bishops Manor, he felt at home.
All the
staff really looked after him.
He enjoyed all the entertainment. He always said the staff were brilliant.
I wish all the staff the best wishes for the future.

My mum has resided at Bishops Manor for a number of years now and I cannot praise the staff enough for the amazing care they provide on every level of service use. My mum has complex medical needs which require regular medication, monitoring and appropriate intervention and nothing is ever left unnoticed
or observed. Staff always communicate any changes immediately to me and will also speak to the GP or other healthcare professionals if they need to. Nurses and carers are knowledgeable, caring and compassionate and treat Mum with dignity and respect. The home feels like a family, it is incredibly nurturing and mindful of residents' needs and also those of relatives, like myself. There is low staff turnover which, for me, speaks volumes and helps my mum to feel safe; she always knows her carers well and they, in turn, understand her needs. I have complete peace of mind that my mum is safe and well cared for when I leave, for which I am forever grateful.

Bishops Manor was so much more than a care home, it became the family's second home. My mum resided in this home for five years. The whole team went above and beyond to care for Mum. The team was very knowledgeable and understood dementia and her needs extremely well. Mum was always treated with respect,
dignity and love. It was a very hard decision to put Mum in a care home. I looked at several homes and Bishops Manor stood out above the rest with its very calm and bright environment, the staff's positive attitude to everyone. I am so glad I made the right choice. The staff made this emotional journey a lot more positive for us, as a family. The team knew Mum so well that they managed to keep Mum in the surroundings she was familiar with until she passed away. The family felt the home was fantastic and would recommend any family with a loved one with dementia to reside at Bishops Manor.

Bishops Manor is an excellent home. My father received palliative care here earlier this year. The exceptional care and support provided by the whole team to both my father and the rest of the family in his final days was second to none. My father was treated with the utmost dignity. As a family, we
will always be extremely grateful to everyone at the home for supporting us all through a very difficult time. We would not hesitate to recommend Bishops Manor.

My husband put his heart and soul into caring for his mother for the last 3 years and managed to keep her in her own home as long as possible. When the time came that she needed to move into residential care, the family spent a great deal of effort evaluating the options in the area. Bishops Manor stood
out immediately, for its calm, quiet and caring environment. Ever since his mother moved in, we have been beyond thrilled with our choice. She is sleeping better, is happier in herself, and enjoys taking part in the activities. The personal care and attention she receives is flawless, the team manage her dementia and falls risks better than we could have dreamed, and her mobility has improved while she has been there. I am so grateful that my husband can now focus his time and energy being a loving son, and spending time visiting his mom in a calm and positive atmosphere.

My father spent the last 5 months of his life at Bishops Manor. It was a difficult time for both him and the family but we found nothing but compassion and kindness from all the staff.
The whole family were always made to feel welcome and included. My elderly mother visited daily and the care and
kindness shown to her as she sat with my father was outstanding and made a difficult time more bearable for her.
My father was always treated with dignity and respect especially at the end when he was no longer able to express his needs.
A big thank you to all the staff

My mum had been in hospital for 6 weeks and we thought she was getting to the stage of having nursing care. Having had a poor experience in a previous care home, we were very nervous about choosing a new one.
Bishops Manor were very reassuring that ours and our mum's experience could be different under
their expert care and knowledge about dementia. It has been the best decision and outcome. Mum no longer chooses to be in bed, she can walk with a frame and joins in with activities with other residents. She seems much more content in the environment Bishops Manor provides. The staff treat her like family and are always super helpful and ready with advice about Mum. It has restored our faith in how care can be given to the elderly particularly with dementia.

Huge thanks to the whole team!

Our mum was very happy at Bishops Manor. My favourite times were having Sunday lunch with Mum in the bistro, a lovely setting overlooking the gardens. She joined in most of the activities, especially the dancing in the cinema room. Sadly, Mum passed away recently and we (the family) will miss visiting
her. We would like to say a big thank you to all the loving/caring staff at Bishops Manor for making our mum's stay a happy one. I will be popping in to say hello sometime soon.

The whole team have been so supportive that after less than three months, my brother calls Bishops Manor his home. It has given us peace of mind knowing he is happy and feels safe. No effort is too much, whether it is finding ways for him to participate in activities or the chef doing his best to satisfy
a food craving. The whole team are always welcoming, patient and approachable. I truly feel they put my brother's best interest at the heart of everything they do for him and for that I am grateful.

Our mom has recently moved into Bishops Manor and we are all very happy with the way she is being looked after and is settling in. After this short time my mom is already looking more like her old self, dressing lovely every day and moving around the home to chat with new friends and the wonderful staff.
I can't praise all the staff highly enough for taking the time to get to know Mom as well as looking after her. As a family it is a pleasure to go and visit Mom as we are made to feel at home. The bistro area is lovely as we can sit with Mom and help ourselves to refreshments and yummy homemade cakes. Mom loves to see us fed and watered. Then we enjoy sitting in the garden with the grandchildren. We also enjoy sitting with Mom watching the live entertainment and seeing the smiles on people's faces.

Our experience with Bishops Manor was second to none. The care that was provided for our uncle in the last 9 months of his life was excellent. Staff were so friendly, kind, and considerate towards him throughout his stay. All staff were always there for us, answering any questions we had and sorting
any of the needs of our uncle.
They treated him with great dignity and respect that he deserved. We have no hesitation in recommending the care home to others.

Bishops Manor is the most exceptional home I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. My father-in-law spent six months from December 2023 there suffering from both vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. During his stay there, his health and mental capacity improved enormously. He became better at walking
and communicating and was always happy. The staff at this care home are all exceptional, from reception to the carers and nursing staff. They made my father-in-law feel loved, protected, safe and were always ready for a joke and a laugh.
I think the daily programme of activities helps enormously with those suffering from dementia and what is also wonderful is the fact that much of the entertainment in the bistro is attended by all residents so you have those who have the mental capacity to engage with those who are less able to, so have a fabulous balance.
This home should be the benchmark that other homes strive to achieve in terms of the staff appointed.

My mother and father have been living at Bishops Manor since October 2023, and during these first six months, the overall care they have received has been of the highest standard. The staff have a wonderful and caring attitude (they are an asset to the home) being extremely thoughtful, particularly
as they have got to know my parents over time. The staff also communicate with the family (and my mum and dad) in a professional manner. We are also pleased with the significant improvement in my mother's mobility and well-being since moving in.
My father enjoys a full English breakfast every morning and my mother takes pride in her appearance and dresses for dinner each evening.
We are pleasantly surprised how my parents have joined in with the daily activities which we originally thought they would resist. These provide both stimulation and variety which, when they were at home, they would not otherwise have had. As a result, this has been an asset to their general well-being.

My father has been living at Bishop's Manor since September 2023 and has received outstanding care from all of the team.
Unfortunately, Dad has become bed-bound in the last couple of months but the care that he receives is second to none. He is treated with kindness and dignity and we, as a family,
are listened to and treated so kindly.
Nothing is ever any trouble and I cannot recommend Bishop's Manor highly enough.
Thank you to everyone - from the lovely, smiley ladies at reception, to the wonderful staff who care so diligently for Dad, to the staff who prepare the meals, to the managers who keep in touch. You are an amazing team and we thank you so much for making Dad so comfortable. You are all fantastic!

Mum has Alzheimer’s and has been living at Bishops Manor for 3 years. This care home is amazing! All staff and carers are so friendly, welcoming and caring. They really do go above and beyond and we are so grateful for all they do to keep Mum safe, clean and happy. There are plenty of activities each
day to keep the residents entertained. Even though Mum can’t get involved in as much as she could 3 years ago, the carers still involve her in activities which are suitable like baking, sensory, music, arts and craft. I would highly recommend Bishops Manor.

Bishop's Manor is a very special care home. Mum has lived there for nearly two years and this year we spent the whole of Christmas day there with her. It was fantastic. We missed Father Christmas but arrived to a lively carol concert attended by enthusiastic residents, relatives and care staff. The
lunch [and tea] was lovely and the care staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and at home. They made it a very special day for all of us.
The point is that this isn't unusual, they always do their very best to support and care for the residents and their family and friends. The carers are the same ones who were there when Mum arrived and have built up a strong loving relationship with her and with us. It's one big family and Mum is so happy there.
A wonderful home with amazing people. Thank you all.

Mum has dementia and has been in Bishops Manor Care Home for three weeks now; after spending nine weeks in hospital with a fractured hip, followed by three heart attacks, you can only imagine the trauma she went through. Bishops Manor has been an absolute blessing. The smiles on her face say it all.
She has settled in well. The staff are really lovely. Always friendly and polite.
Lots to keep the residents occupied during the day and evenings suited to their abilities.
The facilities are excellent.
Very clean.
Well looked after. Any concerns are dealt with and they are willing to listen and adjust for the care of the resident.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.964)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.964) out of 10 for Bishops Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.964 for Bishops Manor is calculated as follows: ( (424 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 439 Ratings = 4.964
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bishops Manor is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Our beautiful home benefits from a strong, experienced management team whose vision, creativity, and commitment enhance the quality of care we provide. Together, we live by the belief that "teamwork makes the dream work," and this shines through in everything that we do.

I am also extremely grateful for the phenomenal nurses who lead each floor with passion and a genuine love for their work. My fantastic care team bring an all-hands-on-deck approach, demonstrating unmatched love, dedication and enthusiasm that amazes me every single day. Their commitment creates an incredible culture that not only enriches the lives of our residents but also brings in referrals and recommendations from the community and the families who trust us.

As someone who has been nominated for awards in our field, I am committed to holistic care that nurtures the whole person. This means taking time to truly listen to residents, understanding their experiences, and responding with compassion and empathy, qualities I believe are at the heart of meaningful care. It’s these moments that make a real difference in a resident’s day.

I am proud to be a nurse and to work at Bishop’s Manor, where every day offers the chance to positively impact the lives of my team, our residents and their families.
