Bishop's Manor is a very special care home. Mum has lived there for nearly two years and this year we spent the whole of Christmas day there with her. It was fantastic. We missed Father Christmas but arrived to a lively carol concert attended by enthusiastic residents, relatives and care staff. The
lunch [and tea] was lovely and the care staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and at home. They made it a very special day for all of us.
The point is that this isn't unusual, they always do their very best to support and care for the residents and their family and friends. The carers are the same ones who were there when Mum arrived and have built up a strong loving relationship with her and with us. It's one big family and Mum is so happy there.
A wonderful home with amazing people. Thank you all.

Mum has dementia and has been in Bishops Manor Care Home for three weeks now; after spending nine weeks in hospital with a fractured hip, followed by three heart attacks, you can only imagine the trauma she went through. Bishops Manor has been an absolute blessing. The smiles on her face say it all.
She has settled in well. The staff are really lovely. Always friendly and polite.
Lots to keep the residents occupied during the day and evenings suited to their abilities.
The facilities are excellent.
Very clean.
Well looked after. Any concerns are dealt with and they are willing to listen and adjust for the care of the resident.

I visited the home today with my friend who was visiting his uncle. My friend had told me how good the home is but I was surprised at the welcome we received. The lady on reception was friendly and welcoming to us both. A large group of residents were gathered in reception where a lady was holding a
seated activity. The residents looked happy, well-presented and well cared for. The wider home was clean and felt very fresh. All staff were friendly and we were offered drinks by more than one. My friend's uncle told me he is very happy in the home and especially enjoyed the food.

I cannot express enough how caring, thoughtful, professional, and amazing the team at Bishops Manor Care Home is. During these difficult times, they have been an invaluable support system not just for my dad but for our entire family. Their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond their responsibilities
have truly made a difference.

The quality of food served at Bishops Manor is remarkable. As someone who has had the opportunity to taste the food, I can honestly say that it surpasses expectations. The catering team provides high-quality meals that cater to various dietary needs.

However, what truly sets Bishops Manor apart is the exceptional level of care and support provided by the staff. They have been an unwavering pillar of strength during some of the most challenging moments for my family. The team's genuine compassion, empathy, and professionalism have left a lasting impression on all of us.

When my parents moved to this home 4 years ago there was reluctance from both of them. I had researched other care homes and Bishop's Manor really stood out, straight away. It immediately felt welcoming; more like a hotel than a nursing home. My dad had dementia and was 'going downhill' rapidly at home.
Mum did her best but it became impossible for her to get any proper rest with Dad's condition. It took a while but Dad thrived with all the tender loving care that surrounded him and Mum was able to have some time to herself knowing he was well cared for. When the weather allowed, the garden was a great comfort to my mother. Dad passed away 3 years ago, surrounded by carers he knew (during Covid) and Mum was able to establish a new routine for herself. The facilities at Bishops' Manor are excellent and visitors (post-Covid) are always welcomed. It is never an easy decision to leave a family home but the staff here do everything they can to help everyone feel 'at home'. Thank you all.

Our mother has been at Bishop Manor, formerly Gracewell, since 2019 and has been extremely well cared for and looked after.

All the staff are a credit to CARE UK. Our mother has never been an easy individual and has strong opinions, but all the staff have handled it with care and diplomacy.

A

special shout for the staff who went above and beyond recently for her with a particular set of circumstances, the family cannot thank her enough.

Would highly recommend Bishops Manor.

in some difficult situations. Many thanks to you all.

I moved into Bishops Manor in March 2023. I am a younger person living with a complex medical condition. I tried two other homes in Sutton Coldfield but never settled as my needs were not met. The team and management have taken the time to get to know me and I feel safe with the team at Bishops Manor.
They take time with me and I never feel rushed. I enjoy some of the fitness sessions and the singers, the activities programme is varied and I can pick and choose what I would like to do. The facilities are light and airy and modern and I enjoy my weekly hairdressing session. I am so happy that I chose Bishops Manor and I love my room that I have been able to personalise with my own belongings. I would happily recommend this place to other families as my care has been amazing.

My friend and I had the pleasure of visiting Bishops Manor on a few occasions, some planned others were not, but never mattered because we were always welcomed by warm, friendly staff. There is a such a vibrant feel to the home, always something happening, like a singer pretending to be Tom Jones or
a quiz. The home is always spotlessly clean and the food is to die for! Having had the experience of another care home, and not a very good one, this is light and day. It is just like home from home.
My friend was looking to move from an awful situation and we were taken under Bishops Manor wing and I cannot praise certain staff highly enough. Really took us to her heart and tried her best to accommodate. Unfortunately there wasn’t an availability at the time and my friend was referred to another home in the same care group. But all this was sorted out by staff at Bishops Manor. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you Thank you Thank you

Dad has been a resident of Bishops Manor since early 2022 and more recently my Mother stayed for a spell of respite. Throughout that time I have always been reassured by how caring and thorough the staff have been. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and contact is always encouraged to ensure that
the best care is being given. These days the cost of care is always a concern for everyone but when worked out, the value given at Bishops Manor is second to none. Who doesn’t want their loved ones to be safe, well cared for, nourished both physically and mentally, in the most comfortable surroundings possible? I am so happy that my Dad is in the best place possible for him, and am reassured that staff not only care for him but for the rest of our family too.

My mum and dad moved into Bishops Manor in October 2021. My dad was a resident here for 18 months. During that time he was extremely well cared for and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. He enjoyed attending the activities, particularly the quizzes and the weekly visiting entertainers. He liked
chatting with other residents in the dining room and all food requests were accommodated. My dad was happy here and had a good quality of life. My mum continues to live at Bishops Manor and is given the opportunity to take part in many stimulating and rewarding activities. She loves walking around the garden and gets on well with all of the staff. Thank you to everyone who helps to make Bishops Manor such a friendly, caring and lovely environment.

Our dear friend was a resident at Bishops Manor for just over 12 months and she often told me it was the happiest time of her whole life.
She had tasked me with finding her the best care home that I could and as soon as I visited Bishops Manor, and met the staff, I knew it was the place I had been
looking for. I am glad to say that not only was I right, but that it went on to exceed my expectations. The facilities are excellent, the activities are excellent, the food is excellent, the care is excellent.
I cannot praise all of the staff too highly. All of them from the front desk and back office staff to the nursing and caring staff, are focused and dedicated. Our dear friend made some wonderful friends at this final stage of her life and enjoyed every minute of her stay at Bishops Manor. My wife and I will be forever grateful to all at Bishops Manor, who made our dear friend so very happy. Thank you all.

My mom moved into Bishops Manor in November 2022 after her health deteriorated and also following the loss of her beloved husband. It was a very difficult time emotionally for Mom and our family, but the carers that looked after my mom were so patient and caring. Just as Mom was settling in she became
very poorly and went into hospital, but the news was not good, Mom returned to Bishops Manor for palliative care. The carers were absolutely wonderful, they welcomed Mom back into her beautiful room surrounded by her personal belongings. The carers were absolutely wonderful, they cared for my mom showing compassion and love and kept Mom’s dignity right up till Mom passed away in January. It was a very emotional time for all our family, but they welcomed us to stay with Mom day and night, they were all so kind. Bishops Manor is a beautiful care home and the carers should be proud of themselves for the professional, loving and compassionate care they gave to both Mom and family. Thank you.

Mum was a resident between May 2020 and November 2022, when she sadly passed away. Overall experience has been excellent, particularly during the challenging covid restrictions. Relating to the latest date ( November 2022), care was excellent, during very difficult and sad times for us. Mum was treated
with respect and dignity throughout and especially during the final few weeks. There is a lovely atmosphere in this care home and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

My father has been at Bishops Manor since June 2022, he had just had a second stint in the hospital, and had become immobile and confused with signs of dementia. As a family, we were so worried and upset about putting our dad in a care home, but after finding Bishops Manor we felt totally at ease that
Dad would be cared for and be happy there. The care and support my father has received is second to none, the staff are so caring and kind, they really create a feeling of family and he's very happy there. The home is spotlessly clean, and welcoming and feels very homely. He has a good-sized room with an en suite, which we decorated with his own pictures and paintings from home, so it feels like home from home to him. Any concerns we have had as his cognitive ability and mobility have declined and his dementia progressed have been addressed quickly and we've been reassured every step of the way. We are so grateful that we found Bishops Manor and we know our Dad is being cared for so well.

My Mother has been a resident since March 2021 and has always received excellent care and attention. Without exception, all of the team are kind and helpful while also being very professional. There are excellent facilities and a varied programme of activities. My Mother is always invited to take part
in activities but is not 'bullied' into participating if she doesn't want to. The Tai Chi sessions have been particularly helpful in restoring and maintaining mobility and general health. The residents are given the opportunity to give feedback and suggestions at regular, minuted meetings and the team respond to requests in a positive manner. The food is excellent and if there are any special requests, these are accommodated, within reason. A big 'pointer' for me is that the building always smells fresh and clean as well as looking well-maintained; this is achieved with a quality system that is followed by all involved. An excellent place with caring and professional staff.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.965)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.965) out of 10 for Bishops Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Bishops Manor is calculated as follows: ( (447 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 462 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bishops Manor is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Thomas Bampfield

Job Title: Home Manager

Working at Bishop’s Manor is a privilege, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of our award-winning team.

Our beautiful home benefits from a strong, experienced management team whose vision, creativity, and commitment enhance the quality of care we provide. Together, we live by the belief that "teamwork makes the dream work," and this shines through in everything that we do.

I am also extremely grateful for the phenomenal nurses who lead each floor with passion and a genuine love for their work. My fantastic care team bring an all-hands-on-deck approach, demonstrating unmatched love, dedication and enthusiasm that amazes me every single day. Their commitment creates an incredible culture that not only enriches the lives of our residents but also brings in referrals and recommendations from the community and the families who trust us.

As someone who has been nominated for awards in our field, I am committed to holistic care that nurtures the whole person. This means taking time to truly listen to residents, understanding their experiences, and responding with compassion and empathy, qualities I believe are at the heart of meaningful care. It’s these moments that make a real difference in a resident’s day.

I am proud to be a nurse and to work at Bishop’s Manor, where every day offers the chance to positively impact the lives of my team, our residents and their families.
